What was your favorite features of Mass Effect - Mass Effect 3?

edited December 2014 in General Chat

One thing I liked was the weapons.
I personally liked the sniper rifle, particularly the one you find on Mars at the start of ME3.
Yes it was slow to reload, but it had such stopping power, that it could take out shields, armor, and even get enemies who were hiding behind cover.
And another thing I liked about it, is that it made combat more relaxed.
It could only fire one shot at a time, but it was so accurate, and had so much stopping power, that every hit was a sure takedown.

Another thing I loved was the dialogue wheel.
As well as the Paragon and Renegade responses, as well as actions.
The only thing I wish it had was a time-limit on being able to answer, like TWD has.

And I loved the personal stories that each character had.
My favorite characters were Garrus, Wrex, Miranda, Grunt, Thane, Kelly Chambers, Liara, and Joker.

For those of you who played Mass Effect-Mass Effect 3, which were your favorite features of the Mass Effect trilogy?
And from what I hear, they're making a Mass Effect 4.
So with in mind, What you like to see in Mass Effect 4?

For one thing, if I'm using a sniper rifle, I'd like to be able to get the high ground.
So often, I was firing from either from level-ground, or up at a target, which didn't offer a lot of an advantage.

Another thing I'd like to see, is when or if they have sex scenes within the new game, I'd like for Bioware to bring back nudity.
I'm actually surprised that they didn't have it in the 2nd and 3rd game.

And I'd like to have a time-limit on being able to answer.
That time-limit, is what helped the story of TWD to flow so well, and I think it would really add to the enjoyableness of Mass Effect 4.

And also, I'd like the option of bringing along two extra team members on missions.
Having a squad of three, I thought got old after a while.

I hated te Mako but am interested to see what they do to change it. It looks less... bulky.

I loved the dialogue wheel and interrupts.

My favourite squad members were Liara (my main LI), Tali, Garrus, Mordin and Wrex.

I want to see an option to bring another squad member on a mission with you.

Oh and make the sex scenes... sexier. They were really toned down.

  • I think most will agree with me that the romances options were a big draw of the games.

  • I was on board using the sniper rifle in my game, but for some odd reason the game glitches out every time I use the damn thing. It would make this awful scratchy tiny noise all the damn time when I would zoom in through the scope (to slow down time) it would loop over and over again during combat, in cut scenes, or just talking to people.

Anyways to answer your question I like the feeling of actually winning over all your team mates and making them your bros that follow/fight through hell by your side. Another huge bonus from this game was actually having intelligent conversations with people in the game that came from different backgrounds and had different experiences in life.

  • Did you just hate them outright, the romance options?
    Just curious.

Customization and the option to romance NPCs. I also like games with dialog trees in general, so that was a plus.

I really liked loyalty missions in the second games, as well as the mad dash to the collector base. Garrus' and Mordin's loyalty missions were real standouts and featured great acting.

Female Shepard. Her voice actor did a much better job, in my opinion.

I love it when the series dips into the horror genre. You don't really think of Mass Effect as a scary series, but a few of the DLC have some pants-shitting moments. The best examples I can think of are the 'screaming' VI / 'dead' geth ship in Project Overlord. Leviathan had it's moments too. "TURN BACK. THE SILENCE CANNOT BE BREACHED.'

It's a very 'pretty' series from start to finish. Especially in 3, the large, set-piece battles are gorgeous.

The series is really about politics and diplomacy, which is rare outside of a Bioware game.

As far as improvements go, I'd like to see the battles become a bit more tactical. It would be really impressive to add a suppressive fire mechanic. Automatic gunfire or certain abilities could be used to 'pin-down' enemies and decrease their mobility/accuracy. I imagine it would have diminished effects on fearless enemies, like geth or krogan.

  • Weird..,never experienced this. Then again, I'm more of a Sentinel/Vanguard kind of Shepard.

  • Is the series about politics and diplomacy? That's more of a dragon age thing, only mass effect 3 seems to be about that to any significant degree.

My favourite thing was easily the characters.

Tali, Ash (in ME1 at least), Miranda, Thane, Jack, Samara, Mordin, and of course my space husband Kaidan <3

Tali'Zorah was my favorite feature of mass effect :D

  • It was so annoying. First I had to save and reload and the sound would go away, but I didn't know what caused it exactly. Then I finally figured it out and the noise glitch only happened around the end of the game for some reason. Eventually I grew tired of reloading my save so I decided to use that god-like pistol they give you in the final DLC.

  • Oh, and Liara. Can't have too much Liara.

  • Haha really? She's one of the most loathed characters on the Bioware forum.

I personally find her extremely dull, not in the least because she's a writer's pet.

  • Yeah I noticed bioware heavily hinted that she is supposed to be the Canon romance.

  • Not exactly.

The whole backdrop of the first game is pro-human realpolitik vs. multi-cultural idealism. Humans want more sway in galactic politics, while the Turians and other council races don't think they're ready.

I'll admit that 2 steps away from that. Still, most of the plot is driven by the alliance and council taking the politically expedient course by shutting up reaper whistleblowers like Shep and his/her crew.

Then there's the genophage and geth vs. Quarian debacle. It all just comes to a head in ME3, but both play a big role in the story at large.

  • I liked punching that annoying reporter in the face, but other than that... Mass Effect 3 Garbage ending ruined this series for me. I will stick to Dragon Age.

  • Aww thats a little harsh I'm not huge fan of the ending but the three games are still good regardless. I would have preffered more endings but otherwise I think people were more annoyed there wernt more alternatives rather than hating the ending itself. I thought a lot of ME3 was good.

  • Well when Mass effect 3 was released. I replayed both mass effect 1, and 2 because the black guy died in the final mission, so i wanted to see if i could save him. I ended up saving him, and killing the robot. So after putting in another 100+ hours, then getting through mass effect 3, which was ok up to the end of the final part,

that ending man ruined this game for me. The starchild storyline was really bad. I had a really bad reaction, because of my PTSD and threw my controller against the wall. At that point i calmed down and realised it just wasn't worth getting upset about. I upset my whoever i was with so i had to go be "the bad man" for a while.

Some people like this game, that is cool. I'm not interested, maybe one day, but not any time soon.

  • Yeah I hated that reporter Dx. I disagree on the ending being garbage. I liked the ending for the most part. Besides the extended cut dlc and citadel dlc fixed it for the most part. Only thing I didn't like was the Shepard is he or isn't he ending if you pick destroy.

  • I ended up romacing Ashley in 1 and Tali in 2 and 3.

Tali is amazing :). ME2 has my favorite romances of the series I think. My favorite romances are Tali, Liara, Jack and Miranda (ass effect lol).Heck all the romances were awesome. :P

I ended up romacing Ashley in 1 and Tali in 2 and 3.

  • Yeah Tali was cool its shame as I liked most of the options in ME2, Tali, Miranda and Jack were all cool (Oh and Kelly Chambers).

I honestly hate Liara, I let Samara die to her demon daughter because of her voice and "I'm gonna kill you if you do anything trope" But liara was even worse, I've heard you can just leave her in the space orbit thing in Me1 so I might just do that next time.

Miranda was okay, I think she would be like ashley and get way better if you crack her shell a bit. Jack too.

I just wish the writers could write a male human who wasnt boring as heck. Cortez, Kaidan, Jacob were all totally boring and Vega wasnt much better as the hardhead stereotype.

My shepard ended up with high enough Paragon/Renegade for most options though I ended up being more renegade than anything

  • I messed up on romance in 1
I tried to romance Miranda in 2, big surprise she just lead me on, and then wouldn't have sex with me... like every other woman online lately. (joke)
In 3 i gave up romancing people.

I ended up romacing Ashley in 1 and Tali in 2 and 3.

  • I didn't play any expansions i am talking about the straight game.

Yeah I hated that reporter Dx. I disagree on the ending being garbage. I liked the ending for the most part. Besides the extended cut dlc

  • Wrex in ME.

Miranda's booty and the way they played out the suicide mission in ME2. (Fuck mining, though.)

The multiplayer and leveling system in ME3.

I'm not really a romance guy.
But I have to say, I liked the one with Miranda.
    Her accent was really cool.
And the way Bioware had her done up, I would say she is the sex-symbol for the whole Mass Effect trilogy.
Or at least that seems to be the direction that Bioware was pointing too.
I think the only thing that was disappointing about Miranda's sex scene in ME2, is that unlike the first game, there was no nudity.
Same thing in ME3, which does puzzle me.

In Mass Effect 1, Ashley was done up alright.
But I can't say she was overly attractive.
In Mass Effect 3, with her hair long and flowing, that new look really bolstered her hotness level.
Not to mention that the graphics in ME3 have greatly improved since the first game.

As regards to Tali, what I think is a shame; even if she wasn't romance, is that you never got to see her face.
For example when she was on her home planet in Mass Effect 3, I was hoping we'd actually get to see her face, like would be the big moment.
But no, Bioware deprived us of that.

Yeah Tali was cool its shame as I liked most of the options in ME2, Tali, Miranda and Jack were all cool (Oh and Kelly Chambers). I hone

  • In my ME2, Sheppard and Miranda did get it on.
As Sheppard and Ashley did in Mass Effect 1.

Spot on dude. I really do wish we would've seen Tali's actual face, but i actually really liked the Miranda sex scene. It was the hottest sex scene in the game.

And Yeah I'm not a romance guy in real life, but i am a sucker for video game romance. Also yeah now that you mentioned it that was weird there was no nudity in ME2 or ME3(besides the husks and banshees lol)

  • I have to say that the biggest disappointing part of ME3, is the ending.
At the grand climax youre given 3 options, but if you don't have the dlc, you don't get to really see the repercussions of your big decision.
After the Normandy crashes on that green planet, all you get is the scene where that little boy is talking to his grandpa.
And you're left wondering what happened to the Normandy, and to the galaxy.

    That really puzzles me?
Why didn't Bioware spruce-up the ending, and show all the far reaching consequences of your final action in the game, as well as the fate of the Normandy's crew to begin with?
    That doesn't make any sense?

Oh my god, the husks, yes!
I would've totally gone for them, if they weren't trying to kill my character, and if I could've actually been able to tell which husks were women, and if they weren't so damned ugly.
    Lol!

And as far as having no nudity in ME3, the only time the player can get close to it is if the romance Liara.
On that note, I'm surprised the Liara sex-scene wasn't a nude one, as it looked like the most passionate one in the game.

  • The hate on the ending is so unnecessary...it wasn't half as bad as everyone said. The extended ending was more then enough for me.

Anyway, the best feature would have to be the characters. Because each and every one of them is unique, and I love my entire crew. Just reading this thread fills me with nostalgia.

The choice wheels are also great, though a time limit would somewhat make it more interesting (with important choices at least).

And rolling in ME3. That shit was needed.
