Again: any plans for a 'block' feature to be implemented on the website?
I asked this about 6 months ago and the answer was 'maybe idk', so I thought I'd make this thread to see if the feature had been further considered.
From talking to people on the forums in PMs I have gathered the sense that this feature would be strongly appreciated, and no doubt people would thank their maker to be able to use it against me (joking not joking).
So yeah, I'm just checking whether this feature is being considered or not. I think it would be superbly useful.

I'd still rather be able to see what you are getting worked up over. Arguing with you is actually one of the engaging ways to pass the time on the forums these days.
Well, I'm sorry you do, in that case.
Ok. I wouldn't, and I find debating with several members of the forum depressing.

Me too, but mental healthy problems and all that.
When people talk about me as if I'm not reading what they're saying (e.g. if I'm debating with someone and they simply say 'Isn't flog shit? Fucking lefty, don't bother, he'll never listen' OWTTE my insides squirm in anger and I feel, and have indeed been, physically ill.
Other people I've spoken to have felt the same or similar, and I think blocking is the only way to stop things like that from happening while also encouraging said person to be a part of the community.

lel
wat a trole
Blocking wouldnt work people would be talking about something others couldnt see.
It works perfectly fine on other websites.
But its a place purely for discussion, if you block anyone who disagrees with you whats the point? You can already "hide" a particular comment if it bothers you
You hide comments after you've read them which is the point.
And it's not to block people who disagree with you, surely you know what blocking is?
How about working on building up your self-esteem rather than being a fragile coward who blocks anyone that disagrees with you?
I have clinical depression. You can't get rid of that by 'building self-esteem' and it doesn't make me a coward.
And I don't want to block people who disagree with me. I want to block the people who are abusive, spout hate speech or act as you are now.
I don't think that'd be a good thing to be honest. In the end people would just block anyone who has an opinion they don't like, and there won't be as much debate on here. I know that some people don't like debating, but I personally like reading through them, and sometimes participating in them.
I mean, there are some users who I would block, due to how they express their opinions and just their general attitude, but I honestly believe that this would take away from the experience of the forum. I'm not on here much anymore though, so my opinion doesn't really matter.
Also, I doubt anyone would block you, you're far too entertaining for that :P (kidding. Sort of)
I think resources can be put into better things.
What about being able to block someone by requesting a mod to do it? So they can make a judgement about whether your reasoning and evidence is fair.
Idk, that seems like a lot of work for the mods to do (because let's face it, a lot of people would abuse this). I think that's a good concept, I'm just not sure if it would work that well.
Well...Telltale does have a tech department which has resources of it's own to improve things and one of them is the Forums... I did get that right...Right? @Jennifer
Well...You never know, they could be fixing things behind the scenes. I personally have noticed that the disappearing comment glitch has improved and the phone version has improved.
Firstly, what resources? Secondly, nothing has changed on the forum for months so whatever resources you're referring to clearly aren't being used.

...As I say that my comment disappeared. :P
Well I guess there's no point to this thread or me being here...Bye then.
My notifications have been stuck at 99 for about three months, my comments disappear and the page system is very clunky and illigoical, and we have no word from telltale on that. Also the devs very rarely come here.
I think telltale is currently in the process of becoming a big name developer which HAS to have good website facilities etc. and their success is outrunning their capacity at the moment. Dev interaction is hugely important, and I've been led to believe that it was much bigger before they hit success with TWD.
It would be a lot of work for the mods, so maybe Telltale should expand the team a bit. OR we could just remember that these abusive, insulting trolls really turn out to be this:
I've said it before and I'll say it again: sooner or later, telltale will need at least some paid moderators.
After reading your post, my Asshole Senses began tingling like they never have before.
Wonder why that is?
I agree that having some backbone doesn't hurt, but that's a little rude, no? Constructive criticism is OK and dissenting opinions usually promote good discussion, but people can disagree without resorting to being rude. I assume that those who want an ignore button want to use it for rude people and not for people with different opinions.
Since moderators are only volunteers, we don't talk as often with the web team as actual staff members. We can make suggestions for mod tool features or report the occasional bug, but we don't have much of a say in how the larger parts of the site function. I've heard that improvements for certain areas of the site might be coming down the line, but we haven't really pushed for an ignore button, nor have we heard anything about it.
I doubt that feature is coming any time soon.
Telltale does have a web team that updates the forums - yes. However, they also work on other parts of the website such as the game pages. I think currently, they are working on adding the new cloud features to the website such as viewing extra choices. You might recall profile linking with Steam and syncing your Telltale profile to the cloud as recent additions.
Thanks for the response.
I don't really understand why you guys being volunteers means there isn't as much communication: you're still doing a job, and have responsibility. In other words, you have all the parts of the job except the money, and the money isn't why they'd be talking to you, the other parts are.
Yes, i'm pretty sure I still have trouble with that but from my PS4 to here.
So let me just create a thread and-What's that? People disagree with me?! HATE SPEECH BLOCKED
Disagreement isn't hate speech.
I don't see why it shouldn't be implemented. I would never use it, but it wouldn't bother me any and may help some people. I have no reason to make everyone read my comments. People who used it would just be potentially missing out on conversation and opinions and the like.
Thanks for your support Viva.
I know what you mean. If a stranger starts treating me (or someone I care about) like shit, I actually start to feel physically sick, like I might throw up. Which, actually, could be a pretty good defense strategy for in-person confrontations...
