Will TellTale ever answer us?
Do you think TellTale will ever answer if they plan to do more with the Wolf Among Us? Or explain if there is a reason why they wont do more. I mean, they seem to ignore every question asking for more and the one rare time they did respond to if there will be more it wasn't a yes or no or even a maybe. Just a "not saying."
So the question is, do you think they will ever say yes or no, or will it just slowly go away until we know it wont be happening.

I see this as TellTale realizing just how much we want another Season or a DLC of TWAU.
Because of this they are neither denying nor confirming anything to keep us on the edge...
Of course some will see this as a bad move because it is annoying and provides zero form of closure, but I see it as a clever way for them to keep the attention high for the series.
They're probably trying to get things in order for a story etc. even then they will have to get the go ahead from Willingham that it will fit the main canon (then we don't have a re-run of Ep.1) Also I don't recall TellTale getting the rights for multiple Seasons from Vertigo, so they're probably negotiating for it :P
Yeah I heard about the whole Vertigo thing, but Vertigo is really dumb if they say no, considering they will make some good money from it
I've heard that the relationship between Willingham and Vertigo has been a rocky one; a while back it was bad and now it's good.
I have a feeling that we will get more TWAU in the future; but with Willingham wrapping up Fables (for now hopefully) and TellTale not having the right to make a Season 2, we might be waiting a while...
It took TellTale the best part of a year to get the rights to make GOT :P
Not everyone will see it that way though :P
I understand what you said completely, better to be safe than sorry
This type of situation isn't exclusive to Wolf Among Us. Telltale generally doesn't comment on their future plans until they are absolutely certain something will or will not happen - or on the flipside, if they are certain something will/will not happen, then they want to hold off until they are allowed announce their plans.
I understand what you're saying, but I don't think it really helps that they announced TWD season 3 so early, whereas TWAU had no announcement whatsoever when it's already been several months since they released the final episode.
I'm not trying to sound like I hate Telltale or anything, but when they announced Minecraft, but none for TWAU, it felt very much like they were rubbing salt on a wound.
Personally, if they are certain TWAU will not happen, I wish they would just announce it already. that way, those of us who are holding onto (a string of hope), can finally let go, and move on.
I mean if they are currently thinking 'We will no longer make further seasons of TWAU.' but make us wait like until September or October 2015, then I will be soooo mad at them.
At the very least they should announce something when the main series is finished (since it finishes in March 31, announcement maybe within a week or two after that date would be best), though I do welcome earlier announcements.
Well thats because Skybound and Telltale signed a "multi-year, multi-season" deal (same as they did with Game of Thrones) so basically they can jump straight into a new season when a current one finishes up so nothing was holding them back from announcing it. They didn't sign that deal with Vertigo so the huge delay could be because they have to get a new deal and everything.
Other than that, I agree with everything you said.
Maybe, maybe not, but all I know is that my hopes of a S2 decrease with every day we don't hear news. I just hope that Telltale at least releases a DLC if anything.
Yeah, I'd forgotten about that (though I was aware of it for Game of Thrones). It's such a shame Vertigo did not decide to go for multi-season deal.
If they do decide to make another deal with Vertigo, I wish they would change it to multi-season deal, instead of another just 1 season deal (since I'm not sure I could bear another wait like this between TWAU season 2 and season 3, the current wait is already hard enough).
It's not as if they can't go back and negotiate for another Season. I'm no Telltale Staff member, but from an outsider perspective, I would think that they are more inclined to spring for a multi-Season deal upfront if the series is a huge hit at the time (such as Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc). Considering how successful the game was in retrospect, Vertigo would be downright insane to turn down Telltale if Telltale came to them to make another Season. Telltale typically aims to spend a Season with a franchise before moving on to another franchise to work with and broaden their fanbase, unless the franchise turns out to be hugely popular.
Sam and Max and Walking Dead (not counting those old CSI games) are the only Telltale series to date to have released or have official announcements of multiple Seasons (I'm not counting "Telltale signs on for x number of Seasons" as that does not always come to happen). Back to the Future and Monkey Island were also popular Seasons that ended with mild cliffhangers, but Telltale was unable to continue those games for reasons outside of their control.
I think for The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, it's most likely them being currently so popular with the TV shows may have played (quite a big) factor in them getting the whole multi-season deal.
Whereas TWAU, the audience was quite limited which could be divided into following categories (and not as much draw-in as other games):
So since TWAU isn't a well known (trending currently amongst general audiences) brand like TWD or GOT, I guess Vertigo kinda had their doubts whether it can be successful or not.
Probably not. I've honestly started to give up on a season 2 because it just seems like Telltale doesn't want to do a S2. Which suck because TWAU is the best Telltale series IMO
I'm out of the loop. Why couldn't they continue Back to the Future or Monkey Island? I could understand Back to the Future due to rights or something, but Monkey Island?
From hearsay, I think the problem was that LucasArts kept having changes in leadership around that time - which resulted in differing stances with lending their franchises to other studios, I think? I don't think anything was ever outright said, but I imagine around the time Season 1 of Monkey Island concluded or around the time they metaphorically could have started on Season 2, the newest people in charge of Lucas at that time weren't willing to let other people work with their IP.
Again, nothing was ever directly said, but considering the post credits tease/cliffhanger in Episode 5 as well as some text on the official Episode 4/5 walkthroughs that Telltale wrote, it seems Telltale was really eager to tease a Season 2 of Monkey Island. At that time, the game was one of their best selling titles as well.
Eventually, the problem switched from changes in leadership to Disney buying out LucasArts - or so people thought. Surprisingly, Disney (who owns LucasArts and all their IPs) has somewhat embraced their older LucasArts adventure titles and sold them through various stores and has allowed Double Fine to remaster various titles. However, despite this, I can't see Telltale going out of their way to continue Monkey Island. Telltale has said in various interviews that their focus is going to be on more modern titles after the success of Walking Dead.
That's a shame. Thanks for the info. But at least Disney is still doing something with Monkey Island... I should get the remastered ones.
Are DLCs even an option anymore? TTG seems to always have a series to work on these days. Are they really going to put resources into a DLC? I was 'meh' with 400 days.
I think it's because more seasons are possible, but with The Walking Dead Season 3, Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones, that another Wolf Among Us just isn't int he works right now. They don't want to say yes maybe because it wouldn't come out for a while...given their current projects...and they don't want to say no because it's not completely out of the question. This lack of silence and the hype it buzzes for the game may show TellTale if they want to do another Wolf Among Us, because lets face it, it's not as popular as the walking dead.
I agree. TWD and GoT are franchises that are doing very well. They put TTG on the map, for me anyway. I hold out hope for Season 2 of TWAU. I too, see it down the road; possibly between projects. It's an original story. I don't think they want to lose that element of themselves. I hope, anyway.
