How do you feel about smoking?

edited January 2015 in General Chat

I tried it when I was teenager, damn-near smoked a whole pack once.
But I honestly could never get into it.
And the health risks associated with smoking has always been a good deterrent for me as well.

I personally view smoking as disgusting.
With all the health risks that smoking causes, like Cancer, Emphysema, birth-defects in children, tooth loss, and it has even been discovered that smoking actually rots the brain, I don't understand why anyone would pick up a cigarette to begin with.
I hate it, and if a woman wants to date me, but she's a smoker, she'll have to either first quit, and if she's not willing to do that, she'll have to move on.

  • I'd never do it, and I doubt I'd date anyone who did do it, but as long as they know the risks and keep the smoke away from others who aren't smoking, then I don't have a problem with it.

  • I don't really care about smoking as long as they don't do it in front of my face.

  • I"M A DISGUSTING HUMAN BEING.

  • I dont like it however I wish soceity would calm down about it, if people want to smoke let them.

  • We are horrible people who deserve the death sentence! I can't think for myself, i need people to tell me what i should do with my life.

  • I smoke but very rarely. I think it's something that should be generally avoided, but not something you should look down on someone for.

I would never, but I don't judge people who do it. One time a guy asked if I would mind if he smoked near me, and I said no. I just kinda held my breath until he was finished.

  • I think he's being sarcastic.

    George are you okay?

  • Oh, I know he is but he seems grumpy lately.

Just wanted to make sure he's okay.

    I think he's being sarcastic.

  • I used to smoke, off and on. But because I couldn't breathe properly half the time and the fact that its so expensive, I gave it up. I've been smoke free now for about 3 years. And I'm never gonna go back to it.

  • If they want to they can, just as long as it's away from people (I hate breathing in smoke from a random guy near a storefront or something). I wouldn't date anyone who smoked though.

  • I fucking hate it and I love it all at the same time.

  • I think a lot of us have been grumpy lately :I

  • That's true, just wanted to check up on the guy.

  • Smoking... It dosent really bother me, but I'm not a fan of it. People are people whether or not they smoke. I however, and many others with medical conditions, are vulnerable to the risks of smoking more than others. I appreciate when smokers realize that and try not to smoke near me. I respect people whether or not they smoke. Smoking shouldn't be a factor used to classify a person, very good people can smoke. Some of the best people I know are smokers, I love all people equally. And hate all people equally. And I don't see a reason the world should look down upon smokers, just because they smoke dosent make them any worse than the rest of us.

  • I use to smoke when I was younger, mostly black & milds and mary jane. As far as cigarettes go, I find it funny essentially watching a person almost have to smoke every ten minutes. Now, I don't have a strong opinion about it. I just want to avoid the smell and smoke.

  • Perhaps, but that doesn't mean I have to date a smoker.
Smoking is a huge turn-off for me.
If I see a beautiful woman light-up, her attractiveness level takes a giant nose-dive in my book.
I've already stated my personal viewpoint on smoking, and I stand by it.

I smoke but very rarely. I think it's something that should be generally avoided, but not something you should look down on someone for.

  • Good for you.
Smoking is an addiction, and the fact you were able to kick your habit and stay clean, is wonderful.
    Good job!

  • Come again?

I fucking hate it and I love it all at the same time.

  • I really don't care if some random person smokes. But if my mother does it, I get real angry, because she went to the hospital 4 or 5 times. Maybe even more. And she still smokes. She can't even walk some damn steps without running out of breath. And all my friends all my clothes smell like smoke. It's ridiculous.

  • I'd never smoke in my life and whenever I see someone smoking I usually feel the need to hold my breath until I pass them, being an asthmatic and all. I find it pretty sad how some people have to resort to such pleasure that slowly kills them :c

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with the thread I just wanted to post it :P

  • I don't think i'll ever do it, but i don't mind as long as they do it close to other people

  • I smoke, and I hate it. Yet it is the only thing keeping me from completely losing my shit most of the time.

Of course it does, why drink a can of acid that's used to clean bathrooms when you can smoke and lose minutes of your life, being a fairy-tale character who can't die and all.

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with the thread I just wanted to post it :P

  • I dated a smoker once. Biggest problem was kissing her for any length of time gave me a headache. She had to chew gum after smoking to overcome this.

What's funny is that most people start smoking because they think it makes them accepted into the right crowd. Then, once they're addicted, they find that most people don't want to be near them.

The new "vaping" trend gets rid of some of the nastiness. Not that I would recommend that, either. (That girlfriend probably still would have had to chew gum to get kissed.)

    If you haven't started, don't.

  • It's not really my place to say. If you like smoking, then fine. If you don't like smoking, that's fine too. I don't smoke, but I honestly don't have a problem with people who do.

Disgusting, dangerous and unattractive, while there's no use trying to get it banned, stopping this shit is important, most people who smoke don't like it, just need it, it's important to remember that this is not a "hobby" and you can't just stop, it's an addiction, a very dangerous one.

  • Personally I would never Smoke(cigarettes anyways), but I'm not against other people doing it. If they want to do it let them, it's their life.

At a certain point, it's a matter of picking your poison.

  • I ain't a fan of smoking in general, but as long as I'm not inhalin' any of the stuff, I've no problem with people who do smoke. If that's the way they wanna live, let 'em.

  • I smoke sometimes, usually when I'm nerveous or frustrated.

  • The smell of cigarettes make me gag, so I hate smoking.

  • I'm not fond of it. I hate breathing in the smoke and it doesn't do much good in the long term to the people who do smoke. I get why people get into in the first place, to relieve stress and whatnot, but it doesn't mean I'll dislike it any less though.

  • I was surrounded by cigarette smoke when I was a kid, but always hated it and never touched the stuff. It's always awkward to be around people who do smoke for some reason, I guess I never got use to it, but I don't hate/dislike the people who do smoke.

  • I've never smoked anything other than I really enjoy cigars. I started smoking them when I was around 18, I've always been fascinated with the "science" of cigars. The way they're produced, the way you have prep them, and they smell great.

  • smoking what???
