Anyone else excited about this news?
I heard about this possibly being made into a movie a while ago, but now I'm very excited. If anyone can perfect this script it's Jane Goldman.

Book to film adaptions have (imo) always been better than say video game to film adaptions and vice versa...
So long as they actually know their stuff about the characters then I will be happy with whatever plot is given :P
I really hope it isn't foreign language though... Nikolaj Arcel (the film's director) has done great films in the past, but they're all foreign language...
Honestly, the only way they can make a good movie out of this is if they base it off the comics and do something like Wolf Among Us, where they dont mess with the comics. If they trying making it into a sequence of movies for the comics Im going to scream, the only way I can see the comics going into another media is a tv show

I must be the only one cringing and not looking forward to the movie. So many producers, I don't care how good you are, butcher the very things we fell in love with, change the stories, add extras that leave us scratching our heads, etc. A lot of books, video games or shows had movies created after them and very few were promising to the fan base and failed miserably.
They are REALLY going to have to do their homework, sit with the creator and do the movie justice. Only time will tell I suppose.

LOTR was a one-off cuz those films were fucking brilliant (The Hobbit not so much...)
But I hope this film ends up being good, and not just for the general audience but for the fans as well. I think I read somewhere that Willingham has been consulted for the film, but I might be imagining things :P
I agree with everything you said. Although seeing a poster like that outside our movies DOES sound awesome, I'm worried they'll do too much or not enough; the Fables has a large fan base and many people follow it to the T.
Even as someone who just took up reading Fables, I can't say I have much confidence that a movie adaptation wouldn't be a middle finger to the fans. No matter who works on the film, Hollywood is known for its awful movie adaptations that don't do the source material justice, regardless of the medium of the original source. That said, I suppose I should give the people behind this film the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they will do a good job on it. It's possible, I suppose.
