How would you define the term Alpha Male?
I've heard the term Alpha Male used over and over again not only used in nature but in the real human world we live in. Its kind of ironic seeing as how people try preventing our society from turning into animals. I guess its about leadership but I can't help but think of Vin Diesel when the term ever comes up. He has everything I think modern men want and try to emulate. A deep calm voice, he's built like a brick shit house and he has charm coming out of his ass. The man is overflowing with masculinity and just seems naturally dominant. And even in his late 40's still looks like a million rubies

The whole alpha male rubbish is just sad bodybuilders who think they're gods gift to the earth.
In my opinion it doesn't matter how big you are. Anyone can be Alpha its a attitude, a idea. A core belief that no one can fuck with you, and if they do you will wreck their day.
Alpha male should only apply to animals. I think of alpha males as being highly sexed rapists who will kill any weaker male that may have sex with his herd of females even if that weaker male is his own son, but then I might just have watched to much animal planet. I think muscle men are unattractive personally I favour mind over body
I define the term as 'silly bullshit'
Alpha's just make fun of Betas.
I guess thats the truth in society as a whole. The ones with money are alphas because to humans money=power power=sexy
Men wouldn't act so Alpha if women didn't like it ^_^
I don't know enough about women to know for sure, but a lot of them I have heard of on the internet say that they think it is stupid instead of a good thing. Like Bonnie said, 'alpha male horseshit.' To many of them it seems more annoying than appealing, but that depends on each individual female I guess.
Personally I think it is just stupid nonsense, but I'm not even a real female, I'm just trapped in the body of one so I don't really count.
I think that type of man appeals to other men in the sense they look up to them because its what they believe they should be like. I think alot of men are afraid to show there emotions because its not the excepted norm even though they all want to just be human beings and not adhere to stereotypes the.
Men act a certain way because they think women and there peers like it and women do the same thing.
That stupid term is meaningless, no one is superior to anyone, we're all human.
Vin Diesel might be buff, but what does that count for?
Brock fuckin' Samson.
Orange juice?
Women Love Alpha Men. I press 225. I tell her to sit on the bar, to add some weight. I been squeezing some Minute maid.
Alpha males...
Ha. The only thing 'alpha' about those who call themselves 'alpha males' is their ego.
In the animal kingdom, the "alpha male" is the top dog, the one all the other animals defer to when he asserts his dominance, and who gets to have everything he wants, especially the females.
Except even the animal kingdom isn't that simple. You can find all kinds of examples where the sneaky, clever ones get their way over the big assertive types. By the time you get to humans, it's basically meaningless.
Alpha males don't have to love drinking, drive trucks, or necessarily have a lot of money. Like you said, it's more of an attitude.
Well humans are animals.
Wrong.
Care to share why?
I'm going to be honest... If I had Vin Diesel's voice, I would never stop talking.
Lol
Most Alpha Males I've met are complete douchebags. So that's how i would define them.
Alpha males are usually the guys in charge. Strong, confident, intelligent, natural leaders. The few that the many look to when shit goes down. The ones who get smack talked about them because they are envied.
You're just mad
Nah
No, I'm perfectly calm.
Mad
In my opinion, the ones who get smack talked about are the ones who are generally assholes (which almost seems to be a part of being an "Alpha Male" in the first place). I don't think people have a problem with the various other qualities that you listed there, and I personally doubt jealousy has anything to do with how these people are viewed.
Now you're just acting like a 5 year old.
You just mad cuz yo azz is old
Yeah, a lot of people are just jealous.

I suppose it's possible in some cases. As a whole though, I highly doubt this is the case. "Alpha males" have many qualities that can rub people the wrong way. They can often times be seen as cocky, antagonistic, ect. I really don't think it has anything to do with being jealous of them.
I guess it's only anecdotal from here on out. Most times I've seen this concept in action it has been due to jealousy and/or envy. For instance at basic the ones who were always in charge got smack talked about them when they weren't around, because they were assholes? Not usually, and if they were then it was justified "assholeishness" to keep everyone in line. And this has carried on in other regards also, from the work place, to school, to sports, and so on. Of course there are some people labeled as assholes and talked about as such just on the basis that they are actually assholes also, wouldn't deny that, but I wouldn't classify an "asshole" as an Alpha Male on the sole premise that they are an asshole if they lack the other qualities set forth.

It's incredibly common for people to complain about management/ their boss for a variety of reasons. I've certainly been guilty of doing it. I personally don't think this typically has to do with being jealous of them as individuals.
Certainly not all "assholes" are alpha males. That being said, I would say the phrase "alpha male" is typically used as a negative connotation, and is typically used to describe people who are a combination of various qualities such as being overly assertive, vain, antagonistic, controlling, domineering, ect. I suppose it's really all up to semantics (I think we're probably looking at two different things here), just saying that these are typically the types of "alpha males" that people tend to have a problem with, and in this case it has more to do with the personalities of said alpha males than simply being jealous of their qualities.
