John Riccitiello

edited February 2015 in General Chat

Used to be a CEO at EA, which was regarded as the WORST company in the world and has a bad reputation. He's not very popular in the gaming community nor does he have a healthy relationship with his customers and micro transactions. Here are some videos of him:

Now...he's working at Telltale as a new board director.

I'm not hating, I'm just a little concerned on where TTG is going in the future with John sticking around. I'm not going to say that it will all suck, but I am skeptical.

    Aren't you all excited now?

  • I'm as excited as an inmate on his final day on death row.

  • You already had a thread about this up, you didn't need to make another.

  • I don't trust him, his ideals and practices are very damaging in terms of gaming. He was at the wheel of EA as it was causing issues back at 2011 and 2012, and giving him such a large role as a Director is very concerning.

Director of what? I'm not well versed in the jobs that go into game companies but I don't think being a director would have to do anything with marketing and all that stuff, so maybe we're safe from all that micro transaction junk? :p

  • Being on a board of directors is still a high up position and as a director would imply, he could have considerable input of the direction of how Telltale moves forward, and if people agree with his direction, a lot of corruption ideals could end up getting put into the future games.

  • This is my only real worry.

Not the best guy to help manage a business.

Here are some tweets from Telltale's CEO Kevin Bruner from last year:

I really don't think you guys have anything to worry about in regards to Telltale and micro-transactions beyond purchasing episodes in each Season.

  • This comforts me. :p

  • How much money did he get from Lionsgate I wonder?

  • Doesn't he have a reputation for taking creative risks? I seem to remember people crediting him with Mirror's Edge.

  • “As Telltale continues to lead the revolution in next generation interactive storytelling, I’m excited to welcome two top executives to our Board. Jon Feltheimer and John Riccitiello have decades of experience delivering premium entertainment to audiences everywhere,” said Kevin Bruner, CEO and co-founder of Telltale. “This is a time of explosive growth and opportunity for our company, and I’m thrilled to have these industry giants join us as we continue to define exceptional interactive scripted entertainment.”

    FUCK.

  • Does that suddenly take away the controversy surrounding him? Besides Mirror's Edge was a mediocre game that never took off, and creative risks aren't always a good thing.

  • Well, EA HAS been improving as of late. I'm not saying that they don't suck, but right now, they're a hell of a lot better than they used to be.

  • That's after he left EA though :p
