Life is Strange has been delayed by at least two weeks
Life in Strange EP2 was due on March 13 based on the devs claim of a six week wait and a mid March launch. Now, the developers have come on record to say that the game will only be out before the end of March, hence meaning a minimum two week delay. There are also rumours Square Enix will override the devs and release the episode even later.
This delay is NOT to rewrite episode 2 despite the leak (for the record, neither was TWAU episode 2 ever rewritten cause some genius apparently figured things out), but to better optimize the game and polish it, and also to give more development time to episode 3 which is apparently far behind schedule.
All in all, I am pretty disappointed. Seems like episodic gaming is doomed to fail as far as following a schedule is concerned. All the recent Talltale games, Life is Strange, Broken Age, Kentucky Route Zero, Republique, Dreamfall Chapters....ah so disappointing.
Square Enix had independantly confirmed with sites like IGN and Destructoid that there was a delay. They however said that "development is on track and we’re looking to release it before the end of March."
Then, Dontnod comes along to refute this, but on their Facebook and Twitter pages, say the EXACT SAME THING! "...development is on track and we’re looking to release it before the end of March."
It's just crazy how Dontnod is lying through their teeth here. What's the harm in being upfront and admitting that yes, there is gonna be a two week delay? There is absolutely no way that Dontnod calls the shots with regards to the release dates, and as such Square Enix would be the authority to refer to. And the "same but different meaning" statements release by the two parties just paints a poor picture on Dontnod.

Its a rumor, it will still be released this coming March.
What rumour? It's on the Twitter feed. The tune has changed from six weeks and mid March, to "hopefully before the end of March".
It still going to be sometime around 6 - 7 weeks im assuming, there was a rumor it was being majorly delayed (April).
Where did you hear such a "rumor"? Square Enix confirmed with sites like IGN and Destructoid that the episode was delayed but will still be out before the end of March. Then, Dontnod comes along and says that there is no delay but the episode will come out before the end of March (they used the EXACT same statement Square Enix provided to IGN!).
In this case, Dontnod have shot themselves in the foot by pretty much admitting to the delay, and have made themselves look like liars (when they could have been more upfront about things).
They said in their tweet theres been a rumor going around.
I want to know where specifically they said March 13th. They never said That, they only ever said it is coming sometime in March.
Also you make it sound like it being delayed an extra week or two is blasphemous lol
Yeah i mean they said 6 weeks so I guess people assumed March 13, nevertheless it was an guess (an estimation at best) and was never confirmed.
They said on Facebook that they are still on track for a March release, sometime before the end.

Not specifically March 13, but they specifically said 6 weeks. You can pretty much find this on any news article, or in their Reddit Q&A, on their Steam forums, on their FB page.
I know man. I even mention it in my post. It's still a two week delay, regardless.
k.
it's still coming out on march
Well, Himmatsj . . . color me shocked.
I'm on the Steam forum under a different username and I told you that you'd be complaining about the Life is Strange game/devs eventually. And well, what do we have here?
You had previously said you'd likely 'cut them some slack' as well.
Oh and I love your thread's title on the Steam forum, 'Life is Strange developers are LIARS!!!'

There's a reason you've been banned here before, and on multiple TTG forums on Steam. Probably other forums too.
Also, I don't think they ever gave a definite 'mid-March'. What was stated, at the end of episode 1, was a March release date. Regardless, it's not the end of the world and I'd prefer they take as much time as they need to release an episode, rather than rush it out the door. In Telltale's case though, more communication would be nice. (And that six weeks thing was the stated 'aim', as Telltale 'aims' for 4 - 8 weeks, but we all know how well that tends to work out)
And you are, quite frankly, one of the reasons companies can be hesitant to give information regarding release dates and such. If they miss it, even if it's an estimate? Whine, whine, whine, and it's not like they're missing it by weeks/months either. If anything, they're still on track for releasing in March. If you don't like the possibility of delays either or waiting, then simply don't buy episodic games until they're complete or nearly so.
PS: Also, a website stating 'they promise an episode every six weeks' isn't the same thing as the developers themselves stating that, unless it's a direct quote. Websites can get things wrong, afterall.
What's so bad about it being "delayed" (since they never gave an official release date), if it's only delayed by one or two weeks, and it's also in order to polish the game.
Do you want something like this to happen: Max and Chloe are just walking along those train tacks seen in the preview pictures, and suddenly they fall through the ground. Or a scene just glitches up, and Max and Chloe's faces disappear, and you get a really good look at their eyeballs and teeth.
oh you complaining about life is strange too now? should have seen this coming bet you have a big lawsuit cooked up for square enix yea? can't wait to hear about it bud
After the leak of Episode 2, one of the devs stated that the release would be on the middle of March.
I know, but it was something they hoped, no? Not a definite 'it'll be released then'.

' there are still plenty of things we’re improving and polishing and episode 2 will be ready for release in mid-march' So, it seems like I was wrong, but it's still hardly a big thing. Originally, they said March, so they're still on track and it's only a week or two more.
i wish i could upvote this comment more than once
will be ready
WILL BE READY
WILL BE READY
You don't need to type it three times, as well as post the screenshot, as I'm quite capable of reading. I was going off memory. And as you can see in the edit, I corrected myself. But again, one to two weeks is not that big a deal, is it?
And the fact remains that Himmatsj is practically a celebrity when it comes to getting banned on forums.
It is premature for you to suggest such things at this early stage man. But yes, color me unimpressed.
Well, they DID give an official release date. "6 weeks/Mid march" is what they kept saying, meaning March 13 it was.
But it's still a two week delay. Your point is?
Well, apologies.
But then, it's still coming out on March so I got no problem.
that it's still coming out on march
Actually, if you look at the original plot of TWAU, it involved Mundies discovering Fabletown, Detective Brannigan chasing Bigby, and Snow being 'dead' till Episode 5, The Boy Who Cried Wolf would be Bigby's deputy, which would go against comic book canon. So if you deduced the wait between TWAU episode 1 & 2, you can figure it's probably because of the rewrite.
It looks like he likes to bash on story-based games.
I'll say.
I have no idea where you got "at least two weeks" from. "By the end of March" still leaves open the possibility of a mid-March release.
Don't trust IGN's "sources." They've been wrong before, and they will be again. See their apology for incorrectly reporting on the cancellation of the Last Guardian based on a single source.
I'm all for holding companies' feet to the fire regarding their statements, but this topic is premature.
Where was all of that confirmed?
C'mon, seriously? I LOVE story-driven games. I think you are confusing on episodic and story driven. Two different things. And I don't "bash". I just vent my frustrations when deadlines are missed.
All of your posts so far have been you complaining/whining.
Well I guess that's why Telltale doesn't give dates, in any case it's good that they're delaying it, I'd much rather wait longer than play a shittier version of the game, if they need to delay it a month or more I'll be OK with it, it's not that I don't want to play it but like I said I prefer quality over well having it now.
That's what the game would be like if it was being developped by Ubisoft...
Brannigan chasing Bigby was in the original Episode 3 title slide.
The Mundies discovering Fabletown can be seen in unused Branngian dialogue, including one part where she says that there are 3 birth certificates with Bigby, with their details the same except the year. And with her in the original Episode 3 title slide as I said.
I think this might be more speculation, I believe by connecting the dots makes sense. So not confirmed, but suggested. Also the Tweedles had a file on her in their office saying 'keep an eye on her'

I actually don't know about Snow being dead toll episode 5. I remember someone on here showed me something, but I've forgotten it.
It's still a march release so it's all good.
Is there ever a time you're not shitting on companies that do episodic games? SHEESH! So what if it's delayed two freaking weeks? Still gonna release in March.
The dialog isn't necessarily meant to have been used in the season. It was found in the files, so it could have been from any point in development. Telltale sometimes leaves stuff in their datafiles that are scrapped early in development, or that use ideas that were later decided wouldn't be used. Remember that there was unused dialog in Poker Night at the Inventory that had to do with a murder, which was never used Poker Night, and by all accounts was never intended to be used in that game.
There's always stuff that hits the cutting room floor, and sometimes that stuff gets revealed in various ways. However, it's important to bear in mind that those cut scenes would not necessarily have been intended to be used in the released game. There are things in The Wolf Among Us that were known to be cut really early in development (which is the case with Bigby's deputy and one of Cinderella's stepsisters being a murder victim).
We know that there is at least one completely different version of The Wolf Among Us that existed even prior to the release of episode 1 (based on Mike Stemmle's LinkedIn profile listing him as the lead of The Wolf Among Us version 1, along with his posts in Telltale's The Wolf Among Us forum that stated his position as such prior to release). It's very possible this dialog could have been from this version, or even the prototype that Telltale used to pitch the idea to Bill Willingham in the first place.
We don't know for sure what was planned, other than the fact that Brannigan was going to show up after episode one (since her picture on the episode preview and the fact that the Tweedles had a case file on her were the only things that made it to the released game). It's very likely that the planned story was very different from that found in the game's data files. This is especially true due to the fact that six months before The Wolf Among Us was released Bill Willingham stated that he was happy with Telltale's story. He wouldn't have said that if the released story would have went against canon.
If the game was developed by Ubisoft, it would also have a male protagonist, with the excuse being, "female characters animations are too hard", ignoring the fact that the deuteragonist is female and they could just copy her animations.
i'm pretty sure all of telltale's games are considered story driven along with episodic so in this case they aren't exactly two different things, what i don't seem to understand is why you keep buying these if you have nothing good to say about them and you have said countless times on steam that you would not support telltale but then when borderlands and got comes out there you are complaining about the same shit you did with twd and twau
Welp at least it's still coming out later-ish. Been playin video games damn near my entire life and it's been a delay here or there, nothing to fret over. A world where there are no delays is a pipe dream.
