Hotline Miami 2
What do you guys think of the game? Is it better than the first one? I've played the first one and it was amazing. It reminded me of the games in the 80s and it is very challenging. It also has a really good story and atmosphere. Now, I am hesitant about buying the second game even though the first game rocked. To me, it kinda looks like a copy and paste of the first one but I might be wrong. Do you guys recommend buying this game?

They're both amazing, haven't played the second but it looks good.
(I always wait awhile for the price to go down and read user reviews first)
It's really good
Well it's banned where I live so...
I think it's great. The soundtrack is EVEN better than the first one! It has an actual story now. It's interesting, yet convoluted at points. There's a wide array of characters to play from. And I mean REALLY fucking wide. There are like, 10 characters you can play as. Some are really interesting, and some are from flashbacks. My favorite one would have to be the writer, because compared to the other people, he has a conscience when it comes to killing. But, the problem with having so many characters is that you get lost, and question what their relevance is to the story at all. Another big gripe I have with the game is its insane level of difficulty. I've spent like 30 mins on so many levels at a time with countless deaths. I know that's how Hotline Miami is in general, but god damn is the level of difficulty overwhelming as fuck here! It's also quite glitchy. Some characters would be hidden from the screen, some areas you wouldn't be allowed to return to, and at one point when I was playing in Scene 11, the crosshair wouldn't move. Overall, this is a satisfying game.
Comparing it to the old game, there's actually quite a lot missing. The many animal masks are gone now, destroying replay ability. There's also less weapons to use. You're usually constricted to a certain set of weapons that a certain character has, or whatever the enemies are using. Like in the war levels, where you have to use only a gun and your knife. At the very least, it is still a bloody good time.
Grade: A
Not nearly as good as the first. They got rid of a lot of the weapons like the katana, axe, hammer, so on. Playing as the private detective sucks because you're only permitted to use blunt melee weapons making encounters more frustrating.
And the original's soundtrack blows this one's out of the water.
There are good things though too. The chainsaw is amazingly OP. The new gore effects are great. I enjoyed the jungle levels a lot more than I should for a game about killing people using blades and clubs. I like the new wider scope the game is going for, even if it all the character switching somewhat defeats the purpose of the replay ability the first one had so much of (what with not having nearly as much masks).
So far, it's a good time. But not the testicle hype ride that was the first one. 7/10
Yea, I didn't like playing as the detective much. Especially when you had to play that chapter at the docks. Seriously, that took me for-fucking-ever. I thought the writer was really interesting to play as. He's the one that has a conscience when it comes to killing. :P
The music was substantially better to me too.
Hotline
This soundtrack is on one of the hardest levels in the game. It's what motivated me to complete the level. I love it so much!

If anyone is confused with the story then try these two explanation videos:
I found both of them to be helpful.
When my best friend introduced this game to me, I told him, this looks like someone is stone or high.
Looks like I was almost right.
