This thread is for recommendations. This can be asking for recommendations based on games you like, new genres or game elements. You can recommend games to other posters or even just post an obscure game you think someone might like.
For example if I wanted to to find a new horror game I might say “So I’m looking for a game like Resident Evil, but maybe more focus on the atmosphere.” and then someone might recommend Silent Hill or something like that.

I recommend Catherine. I've never play anything like it before, it's one hell of a good game.

I'm going to recommend a game that's so bad its funny, its called Deadly Premonition.
Biscuits
The gameplay is completely terrible but the story, characters and voice acting are so ridiculously bad that you'll be laughing your ass of the entire time and its worth it IMO.
I need a good RPG or JRPG
Persona is a must if you love rpgs/jrpgs. I love persona 4.
Yeah, Persona has dethroned the Final Fantasy games IMO.
Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing

I recommend Broken Age: Act One (Act Two is going to be released this year). It's a point-n-click game with great storytelling and voice acting. And this graphic style is adorable.
I love it, its a great game.
Me too! Can't wait for Act 2, it's been delayed so many times
XD i've heard this game is hilarious and you either love it or hate it
The trucks in this game are so awesome that the laws of physics can't affect them.
Is there a release date for it yet? I haven't heard anything.
I was watching Cryaotic play this game haha.
The best game ever!
Yeah, it's a real gem of point and click gaming. It manages to be atmospheric, funny and dramatic at the same time. The story is great (so far) and both the music and the artstyle match what the game needs.
I recommend Valiant Hearts. It's a beautiful adventure game with a great soundtrack, a marvelously sad story and beautiful comic style graphics. Try it, you won't regret it.
I'd recommend the entire Megami Tensei franchise in general. The Shin Megami Tensei, Devil Summoners, Devil Survivors, and Digital Devil Saga games are just as good as the Persona games. But I do agree, Persona 3 and Persona 4 are really great games if you haven't tried either of them yet. I don't really recommend the first Persona though, mainly because it hasn't aged well (gameplay wise) and the cast was so boring and downright forgettable.
It's been so long ago that I forgot I've been waiting for act 2.
Anyway, loved the plot twist at the end, wasn't expecting it at all.
This game had me from the very start. To The Moon is more than just a game. It's a story, and a damn good one at that. This was truly a little piece of hidden art. I actually did not want it to end and I must admit that I may have shed a tear. This is one of those stories that makes you not want to take a break to eat, text your friends or take phone calls. Definitely one of my favorite games ever.
I don't think so. It was supposed to be released later 2014, but nothing so far.
One of the best games ever, no doubt.
I agree. An emotional story.
Brothers a Tale of Two Sons
This game is really good, but the ending was really sad
If any of you are looking for a (really) fun Xbox 1 exclusive to play - this is it!

I recommend everyone play Dark Souls. It's a challenging but rewarding game.
I recommend Heavy Rain for anyone who wants to play an incredible and totally different game! If you have a PS3, don't let this game scape your hands! This game is downright phenomenal. It's a 10/10 for a masterpiece of a story.
Chrono Trigger. 'Nuff said.
Heavy Rain was great! The writing can be a little awkward at times, but overall, it's really impressive. It's a telltale type of game too; story over gameplay. Except the choices and actions you make in Heavy Rain actually do matter. You play as several different characters and if you end up getting one killed, they're dead for good and the game carries on without them. A bunch of different endings too!
Transistor. Only available on PS4, but I think it's free for the moment (or was?). A fantastic indie game with a unique/beautiful art style and superb soundtrack. The gameplay is pretty cool as well, but it takes a little while to master it.
It's also available on PC/Mac! But yeah, it was one of the free PS+ games last month, which is how I got a hold of it. I actually just got the platinum trophy for it yesterday! I was surprised by how much I loved it. The art style and music was beautiful, the story was really interesting, and the gameplay was great once I got the hang of it.
Funny story when I played this game. I don't own a PS4, but my brother does. After waiting a bit for it to download I decided to hop on and play it first. Apparently my brother snuck on and played it while I wasn't looking and started a game and played all the way up to the beginning of the first boss then he logged off.
I got on and played the game from his save, not knowing anything. I was soooo confused, what the hell was going, why I was fighting this boss right off the bat, and what are the controls? I thought "man what a weird intro!" after getting my ass kicked. I played through the whole game none the wiser that there was a proper intro lol. Only after beating the game and starting new game plus I realized what a fool I had been.
Crusader Kings II and Arma 3.
Can someone suggest me a game inspired in an Historic Era (in the past)? I would prefer a non-strategic game.
I know I posted this on the games of all time thread but this is truly is a gem that everyone has to play! It's a quirky platformer with a leveling mechanic where you earn badges to unlock new psychic powers so there is an incentive to explore. Did I mention its made by Tim Schafer? The graphics still do stand up in this age too its on the PS2 and PC thou so PC is the best bet
Mount and Blade: Warband.
If you like pixelated gameplay, I recommend you to check out both of those little known games:
1. One Chance
It's short, emotional story based on choices you make, with couple of different endings and really atmospheric soundtrack. Try it out, you won't be disappointed.
Play it here - http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/555181
2. Lone Survivor
Lone Survivor is a post-apocalyptic survival horror game with retro-styled 2D graphics in which the player controls a nameless protagonist following directions provided by the character's apparent hallucinations.
I recently finished this game and I've spent half of the night reading stuff about all the endings, characters and the gameplay. Here's the trick - the game itself remains vague and simple, but it's a lot of hidden content and details for the players to find.

I'd ask you to recommend me some atmospheric, dark, emotional games, with good soundtrack and nice plot - I'm especially looking for survival and apocalyptic themed games, but it's not a necessity. Gotta add I've played a lot of them, so it'd be hard to find something I haven't heard of. Hope you guys know this stuff better than me. :>
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be checking it out as soon as I'm free(er)
When I first saw the picture of the main character from Lone Survivor I thought he looked crazy. Obviously he is wearing a surgical mask, but when the game first came out I thought he was smiling like an insane person and it creeped me out. Great suggestions though.
Perhaps Assassin's Creed series?
Wonderful game indeed. The soundtrack is also very atmospheric.
