Hideo Kojima is leaving Konami apparently...

any thoughts. This might be good for David Hatyr, maybe he can get his old job back as Snake. So i am assuming this means the "Silent Hills" game has been canceled.

A damn shame. All I hope is Konami won't touch the MGS series after he leaves. Except for remasters and little spin offs. But this sucks for those who looked forward to Silent Hill. Maybe he'll return one day. Also, is this confirmed or just rumors?

I don't know, i heard about it last night from a friend. My friend told me Kojima, does not work for Konami any more. Kojima took his whole team to france, and Konami vowed to keep the series alive, they took his name off of MGS Phantom Pain or whatever.

Its sad to see another series get MegaManned but that is what happens when you have a falling out between the publishist, and developer.

TBH the metal gear story was getting a bit weird anyways, maybe it is all for the best. I linked the first article i found in a google search about it, for more background just so you know i wasn't making this up.

France? I never heard that. But I did hear about taking his name off the box cover.

    R.I.P Metal Gear

    1988-2015

I also heard that Konami is planning to make a new Metal Gear series, that's what I'm worried about.

The MGS is pretty wacky, but I think it added to it's charm. Thanks.

  • i hard that too, they want to continue the story. I don't see why they shouldn't. It is their game, fans have to remember Kojima is just a employee.

Kojima might be an employee, but he is the one who created pretty much everything in MGS universe. He created the characters, story, and even the new FOX Engine. It's just a shame he can't take that with him when he leaves, I'm afraid Konami will butcher it like they did with Silent Hill.

  • Thay was my exact reaction.

the "Silent Hills" game has been canceled.

  • Kojima owns the fox engine doesn't he how are they going to do mgs without kojimas signature engine?

I liked Silent Hill: Downpour, then again i like pretty much all the Silent Hill games. Other than the obvious issues it had with being on such a Archaic console PS3, so shrug. I don't know why Kojima would leave Konami, to me its one of the biggest mistakes

  • what are you talking about, where did you find out he owns anything? I haven't seen that. He is going to be like the Megaman guy.

  • Kjima and his team might've meade the FOX Engine, but since his team was a branch of Konami, they own it.

  • Kojima could always kick start a game like that one guy.

  • The guy who made Faster than light, or Wasteland 2. I bought both of those games, both were developed on Kickstarter. Maybe Kojima just wants to retire, maybe he is just done.

  • I knew this before because im a kojima fan but just to be sure its still the case I checked and kojima does still own the engine he created it (kojima is Japanese for fox) kojima is still working on mgs but hes not allowing konami to use fox for silent hills so silent hills is "on ice"

  • Oh, those guys. It's fine if Kojima wants to retire, I just don't want Konami touching MGS after that. Let MGS end at V.

If anyone cares enough, there's a petition to get Kojima's name back on the cover for MGSV.

  • Hes a proud man he wouldn't care for this type of thing, anyway its not like he was fired it was a disagreement theres every chance they will have to take him back for fox because im sure he would never sell it
