I am tired of TWDG throwaway character (Every character besides Clem)
Seriously? Can we not have a little group of character finding more survivors? Or is it too hard to program it and the choices would be too hard to program. Seriously we have to follow Clem at all times as she finds survivors only for those survivors to just end of dying quickly. I dont even care if we have a group of 3 finding more people like Christa,Clementine,Chuck I dont care who is in the group. I just want a little group of survivors in TWDG without everybody dying. I know its the walking dead and people have to die. But seriously characters in the comics and tv show take longer to die. HELL the characters is GAME OF THRONES tv show take longer to die! I just want some characters in a group lasting longer than a couple seasons with survivors joining them. I dont get how that is too hard. The cabin survivors (Nick,Pete,Luke,Rebecca,Alvin,Sarah) were all pointless and didnt effect the story. They could of easily removed the cabin survivors and just have Carver's bandits capture clementine.

I don't want TT to make it a precedent that everyone besides the PC dies by the end of every season. I thought it was fine for S1...I took S1 to be more of a background story for Clementine....but I was really hoping in S2 that more of Clem's group would survive...especially since there isn't that much time passing between the seasons. The cabin group was able to survive 2 yrs..as was Clementine...so I think more of her group should be able to as well.
S2 I have always felt was kind of a filler season...it was about Clem surviving and deciding who to trust and the beginning of shaping what type of survivor Clementine will be
Quite frankly, I don't really care what telltale does anymore, in regards to TWD.
It's just a videogame, and in my opinion, I think that generally speaking; it's been blown way out of proportion.
Don't get me wrong, I like the game!
But I still wanna keep it in it's proper place, and maintain the viewpoint that it is solely for entertainment purposes.
Personally i am bored of the current storyline, and think they need to go a "new direction." The rehashing of characters, the cheap laughable deaths, it just ate more and more away at the storyline that i loved, to where i shrug my shoulders at it now, and say whatever. I agree with the OP, rehashing the same shit has to stop, or other games like Life is Strange will become number 1 with TTG taking Sega road.
Season 2 was written by a bunch of glass-eating Janes.
[Has horrid vivid flashbacks of the later episodes and finale]
Ugh.
Whiskey, hey, CAN I GET SOME WHISKEY OVER HERE? T_T Fan in distress!
Jameson or Jack Daniels. With me you have choices.
Hmmmmm...
Which'll make me drunk faster?
I'm also tired of where they are taking the story. My hope is that they wanted to kind of start fresh, which is why they did things the way they did this last season. I can see killing off a few people but by the end of both the first Clementine is alone, and the second she is almost alone. Why not have the majority of the group survive? Have a really great story, a couple of sad moments, funny moments, action, and some scary parts. Throw in a couple of mysteries and you got yourself a really fun game.
I'd recommend a nice bourbon, or perhaps a scotch if you want more of a kick.
I'm more of a Hennessey man myself.
Its probably because at the very start they decided everyone in the cabin group would die by ep 5, which was a big chunk of season 2's cast. But they probably didnt know how they would die, making it feel super throw out-y
I'll drink them all, but a little more Hennessey in there I think. Yesh yesh.
To Telltale
with love
Not everyone died. I mean, there is still AJ with her but... I see what you mean. It just a feeling but I think that in season 3 there will be more characters surviving by the end of it.
I think Season 2 just had way too many writers that the story just kind of lost some of its focus catering to the tastes of the various writers on the job, I think it would be better in Clem returns in Season 3 but with less writers so that the storyline isn't like... well, like a box of curly wet noodles.
Jack Daniels is harsher , Jameson is smooth as silk.
Yep, started with the glass-eating Janes and decided to bring the dick-shot Troys in on it.
I somehow can't even bring myself to count AJ as a character... but yeah... he's was essentially guaranteed to make it out from the beginning.
For me it effected me connecting with the characters I think you need a balance of giving each character enough character depth, influence and time for their death to have any effect like most of the S1 characters did or it affects the story in a negative way
S2 it seemed like you never got time to even know about the new characters before their dead a few even completely changed personalities to appear nicier before they were killed.
So all the deaths lacked substance it seemed just shock value cheap feels because they had no build up just constant death, so you never really cared about anyone apart from Clem because of this as you knew every encounter with a new character never lasted, you will never learn much about them and ur choses won't affect their outcome so you just didn't care about them
They overloaded you with to much killing of characters who lacked substance or depth so it sort of became boring and you got used to that idea of someone dying every ten minutes so it lost all shock and surprise for me when it happened as it became expected
So what that he doesn't even speak? He's character, Also if we count characters with unknown status then Clementine isn't the only survivor... though we don't know if the rest is even still alive.
Personally, I'm done with Telltale as a company. It's obvious to me now that the success afforded to them by the first Walking Dead Game will simply be exploited to fuel sales of mediocre products put together as cheaply and quickly as possible. The high water mark TWDG set is just a thing to stamp on advertisements for them. "From the makers of The Walking Dead Game!" There is nothing to me to suggest there's anyone at this company, or at least anyone in a position to do anything that wants to strive for that level of quality again.
Season 2 was the biggest travesty I've ever seen committed to fiction in my entire life, and I saw all three Star Wars Prequels in theaters. It was such a disappointment, I actually broke down and made a page one rewrite of the entire thing as a fanfic. Something I've never done before in my entire life. Season 2 was an inspiration for me in just how seemingly wrong almost every single thing was about it.
Ironic for a company that broke away from LucasArts in attempt to make engaging independent games, Telltale has now become a well oiled business concerned only with schedules and profit margins, much like how George Lucas himself started as an independent filmmaker only to become a successful businessman by shamelessly exploiting his one big breakout success. Actually, that comparison would be unfair to George Lucas. He gave us The Empire Strikes Back after Star Wars, and say whatever you want about Return of the Jedi, I'd take it over Season 2 any day.
Preach it brother. I have been complaining about this for a while.
Actually for me season 1 was more emotionally draining. I felt it was much easier to become connected to the characters (probably because I had no idea they would almost all die) while in season 2 I was somewhat prepared for it. Season 1 characters also just seemed to have more depth to them.
If the game is no longer enjoyable for a lot of people one of two things will happen. 1. There are a lot more people who still enjoy it, and therefore the game will continue. Or 2. The fans will grow tired of the predictable deaths of all the characters they like, and will no longer purchase the game and it will be discarded just like it's characters. You say it's being blown out of proportion, and it's for entertainment purposes. Well for some that's not entertaining, and is just infuriating.
Jeez you make it sound like the video game ruined your life or something. All Telltale is doing is entertaining you for $20. You don't like it, fine. Just move on and focus your interests into something you like.
Agreed. Like I have posted many many times... When you have the choice of saving someone, it becomes an immediate spoiler that they are going to die later. First game they could pull it off because we didn't know. Second game it was obvious. By the third game I'm guessing if they don't make some improvements it will be the last purchase for a lot of people. Like you I buy the game because I still like some of the story, and not a lot of other games that I want to play. But if it gets much worse I won't even waste my time.
I know right, its really bad right now.
Eh I will still buy the game, on 75 percent steam sale... For LOLS, i don't plan on following the storyline through the "episodic wait." I have zero desire. You never know though, i might get drunk and just buy the game.
I agree season two had its problems, but it wasn't the end of the world. It was a poorly written enjoyable experience.
Well I will admit, it's pretty bad that the game has become so predictable, in regards to it's determinate characters, in just 2 seasons.
This is an issue Telltale needs to seriously address in Season 3.
As well as whether or not Clementine is the PC character in season 3.
The story is still good for the most part.
But having Clementine as the PC character is really unrealistic, particularly how much consideration her opinions get by other group members.
And having every determinate character die could be interpreted as lazy writing.
Now to be clear, I'm not saying Telltale's writers are lazy or untalented, not by any means.
If that were true, the game wouldn't be as good as it is.
And being able to continue to write good stories like that takes a lot of time, thought, and meticulous effort.
It is a job that I know I'm not qualified for.
And I would not presume to tell them what they should do, as that is not my place.
But from what I see, again from the standpoint of a product-consumer, those are the only two real issues that have developed.
I agree with this, everything seems all about making the most amount of money with the least amount of effort. But this isn't anything new, plenty of things I used to like have been failing on me, twdg is only one example. .-.
I don't know about that. Season 2 isn't really that bad, and TFTB and GOT are great.
I would've wanted Kenny, Luke, Nick and Sarah to stay alive togheter.
I hope Season 3 would become like Mass Effect 2. Where the decisions you make can actually prevent every member of your group from being killed.
As you well know, I agree with all of this.
Yeah, characters like Sarah for example really could've helped given this series more of a recurring cast to remember and care about.
Thus far, only AJ and to an extent Kenny(for some fuckin reason) have been the exceptions.
