TV shows with most wasted potential?

i have to say its "LOST" because the last 2 seasons it completely went astray. Season 1-4 was one of the best things you could ever watch on TV but then comes season 5 it turned show completely into sci fiction not that i hate sci fi but it just didnt suited the show itself while season 6 was a stupid fairytale and i wont say anything about how bad finale was.

which show do you think had wasted its potential to be one of the best

Dexter is the best example I can think of. Such a great show in seasons 1-5 then the last 3 seasons mostly stunk and had a alot of wasted potential.(some episodes in seasons 7 were good.)

  • The Walking Dead. Come at me hardcore fans.

  • I instantly thought of Lost. So damn confusing.

  • i was actually thinking which show screwed up more, lost or dexter and i chose lost because it was my favourite till i watched season 5 but yea dexter is 2nd to me :)

  • Do great shows cancelled in their prime count? Firefly had a glorious run of 14 episodes when it was cancelled. They ended up making a movie, but it wasn't the same, and an extra 2 hours falls short of what they could have done with more seasons.

Keeping more with your example, I think of Heroes. The first season was amazing, then the writer's strike happened and the second season kind of fell apart. I stopped watching at that point, and I heard that it never recovered.

  • Star Trek Enterprise was finally heading in a right direction when it was cancelled.

  • Freaks and Geeks tackled real problems in a realistic light, and was just a really well done show. It was cancelled after one season due to not enough interest, but it's gotten a cult following nowadays. Reading how they would have handled future seasons made me sad because this show had a lot of potential.

Heroes, which I only watched a little bit of when it was airing but my parents were fans. Apparently it was really cool but went down hill. Lost too.

I loved Pushing Daises, a really fun and adorable show that was cancelled too soon.

Rick the prick can't beat Negan

  • I liked the first season but the second was a drag.

TWD (Though I usually try to accept it for what it is.) and the last two seasons of AHS (Coven and Freakshow) could have been a lot better, even though Coven will always have a special place in my heart because witches.

  • Negan is a brutal motherfucker

  • The Boondocks. If Aaron Gruber kept writing I guarantee you that show could have lived forever. It had a charm about it that really rubbed off on me

  • Dexter definitely. I didn't love seasons 3-5 though. They were ok for me, at least3 & 4 were. Season 5 was bad imo.

  • Come on. Put up a spoiler tag.

  • Rick ain't a prick, and to be fair you'd have to be like the size of TV show Governor to take on Negan.

  • Prison break. I really enjoyed the first season and some of the second, but afterwards it just dragged on to the point of boredom.

  • Rick the prick is a nickname Negan made up though xD

  • sorry, didn't think it was that important ;-;

  • Freakshow was off to an amazing start till they killed off the best character and villian they ever had in (I believe it was episode 3 or 4)

  • Another thing I need to get around to watching

Also when you think about it though any show about prison gets dull after a few seasons, there is only so much you can do. You cant even really change locations

  • Misfits that old E4 show had tons of potential but the cast kind of ruined it, several left, one got fired and they had to replace all but the most dull of the originals and as such the show never recovered and the last three seasons were appauling

  • Yeah, he died too soon.

Freakshow was off to an amazing start till they killed off the best character and villian they ever had in (I believe it was episode 3 or 4)

  • The Legend of Korra. Season 1 was great, but it got progressively worse. I know they were losing viewers and funding, but it got really sloppy and rushed. A disappointment after The Last Airbender, one of the best animated shows ever.

  • Oh, Jericho. How I loved that show. At first I only watched season 1 because I read that season 2 have a lot of political stuff instead of survival. But I gave the second season a chance and I like it too.

  • I preferred Dandy to Twisty, but he was a really interesting character. He and the girl that he captured (Bonnie, I think her name was.) both should have stayed around longer. I also hated that Emma Robert's character got a shitty death again. (I know the entire fandom hates her, but I liked her character from both Coven and Freakshow.) Even though seeing someone get sawed in half was cool. And it just felt sort of directionless idk I can't put my finger on it but I was not a big fan of Freakshow. .-.

Second season pretty much ruined the show, they killed off bonnie. God that girl was hot, i wonder what happened to her.

  • I'll be honest I kind of hate Emma Roberts lol. I really hated her in Freakshow, she was awesome in Coven though :3

    Firefly.

Not because it was bad, but because it ended so damned quickly.

  • I hear American Horror Story in general is just full of disappointment. I could never get into it. I watched an episode of the first season and thought the writing was unbelievably terrible and the characters' reactions to events so unrealistic I just could not continue.

TWD (Though I usually try to accept it for what it is.) and the last two seasons of AHS (Coven and Freakshow) could have been a lot better, even though Coven will always have a special place in my heart because witches.

  • No the thing is, they did change locations. I won't get into anything because of spoilers, but it was very poorly executed IMO.

Another thing I need to get around to watching Also when you think about it though any show about prison gets dull after a few seasons, there is only so much you can do. You cant even really change locations

  • Revolution. And maybe Heroes.

  • I think Kelly (whatever her real name is) said something racist or some form of that and wasnt allowed back. I dont think it was anything that bad or intentional.

Rudy was .... alright I mean better than Finn or Jess though its kind of obvious he just played nathans role in season 3 with what would have likely been one episode on his power.

Its a shame because actually by the end of season 5 the new people were starting to grow on me, season 4 was just so bad they couldnt recover

  • Oh, you didn't even like the first season? I thought the first season was really good, or maybe that's because I had just finished Coven and was just astounded by how much better Murder House is just by comparison. I didn't watch them in order. .-.

Most people were disappointed only by the latest two seasons, and I don't have high hopes for Hotel/S5.
