Moments that got you when you were little

edited April 2015 in General Chat

Something somebody posted on the forum got me into a late 80s, early 90's youtube binge, and so I'm curious, what were the sceens from movies grown that really got to you as a child?

I couldn't find the bit after this clip, but as you can guess, it's really sad...

This song is so much more interesting if you've been dealing with depression, but even then...

And the ending of The Little Mermaid always made me cry for some reason xD

The ending of Homeward Bound 2 where Chance gets hit by the truck. I was nearly traumatized by it.

  • !!! I don't remember that... I remember crying my eyes out when Sassy fell down the waterfall in the first one...

  • Yeah, it was right before the trio reunited with their family. Chance gets hit by a truck and everyone believes the impact may have killed him, but he crawls out all bloodied and stuff, but alive. I've always been a huge animal lover, so it was certainly traumatizing to say the least.

This scene killed me when I was a youngin', and still fucks me up today.

    Feels. Feels never change.

I remember hating the part where Shadow fell in the mud and was unable to climb back up, thankfully he managed to get out in the end.

  • There have been a lot of things that have gotten to me in shows and movies when I was younger, but none of them got to me as much as this.

  • I love this movie. It's hard for me to not get teary-eyed at this part.

  • Oddly enough, I remember it was Scar's death in The Lion King that caught me by surprise - (supposedly) ripped apart by hungry, vengeful hyenas.

  • I love Disney! They made one of my favorite movies last year, Big Hero 6. You should watch if you haven't already. If you watch it, prepare for feels.

  • That scary ass episode of The Simpson's where Mr. Burns gets those radioactive shots and looks like a glowing ghost/alien. Fucking scared the heebie jeebies out of me.

  • I swear, it's the weirdest things that pull my feelings. The "Superman" line wasn't even the breaking point, it was three minutes prior when the giant saw Hugo's unconscious body and started sobbing that really got the tear ducts flowing.

Vin Diesel's best performance by fucking far.

I love this movie. It's hard for me to not get teary-eyed at this part.

  • Yes so true :'/

    I still don't watching this.

  • This piece of shit played right after "The Clangers" so I wasn't expecting it to traumatize me for the rest of my childhood.

  • I actually watched it for the first time a month ago, and I really liked it! I'm crossing my fingers for a sequel.

  • I really hope they make a sequel too, it was my second favorite animated movie last year.

Fly Away Home is a 1996 family drama film directed by Carroll Ballard. The film stars Anna Paquin, Jeff Daniels and Dana Delany. The film was released on September 13, 1996 by Columbia Pictures.

The story follows a young girl from New Zealand who survives a car crash that results in the death of her mother. The young girl is sent to live with her father on an Ontario farm, where she adopts a brood of Canada geese chicks. When the birds imprint on her as their Mother Goose, she realizes that unless she and her father can teach the birds a migration route from Ontario to North Carolina, the birds will not be able to survive the winter. The solution comes in the form of ultralight aircraft that are used to guide the birds to sanctuary.

The story dramatizes the actual experiences of Bill Lishman, who in 1986 started training geese to follow his ultralight and succeeded in leading their migration in 1993.

Still one of my favorite movies after all these years. Watched it again recently and it still brought me to tears :_; the song in that video plays at both the beginning and end of the movie.

  • Got to me way more than Mufasa's death at the time. Jeez, this movies loved to traumatize young kids. (Bambi, Simba, Littlefoot)

"So long partner." We can all relate to being older now and remembering the nostalgia of simply playing with our toys.
