I FINALLY Understand GameStop's Gimic!

Okay, So you know how in Most video games, selling shit at the shops screw you over?

That's it! Gamestop wanted to make their company so realistic to a Video game, they made Prices high and Selling prices really shitty!

Now, I know, I'm not usually one to post things like this, But there are two things pissing me off right now, and That is Nintendo's Online Bullshit, and GameStop

  • Their gimmick? Their gimmick is that it's a place where you stop to get games. Hence the name O_O

  • Before Gamespot there was Electronics Boutique and Babbage's (among others), both used to do the same thing. Used cd stores did the same thing, used book stores do the same thing. They sell it for a low price because they know they can, because they know you basically just want to get rid of it, and chances are they have a lot of copies themselves. Conversely, people buying clearly actively want the product.

High supply + low demand = low buying price. Low buying price + high selling price = profit.

I don't know why they stopped it, but there used to be video game rental stores. Or rather, you could rent games at your video rental store. Of course this was in the days of VHS so it was a lot harder to copy.

  • It's also a complete shit company.

  • Tell me about it. They'll charge you $25 for an old ass used game but will only pay $4 for a game you just bought. Even if you got store credit its useless

  • Ikr... GameStop is awful. I do all my buying at Vintage stock and the "CD Warehouse" North of the river.

  • Try Amazon, I bought Fallout 3 with all the DLC for only $20 one time.

  • I like gamestop :/

  • I can see the appeal but I don't like them. Maybe it's just because of my local branch or whatever, because the customer service there is crappy and they overall have shit prices. I just go there because it's convenient.

    I like gamestop

  • Ehh the one by my house has decent prices some times and great customer services. Plus the workers are really nice and I have fun talking to them lol

  • Funcoland was the best until EB bought it.

Currently I live in a town with no real video game store so it's mostly online shopping for me now.

  • Gamestop is cool when I'm looking for an older game I missed, usually scoring it at a decent price. New games I'll buy wherever, since the price is usually the same.

If I sell a game I usually try Ebay, assuming it's fairly new and know I can get a decent price for it. I recall buying LA Noir for full price ($60, I think), and wanting to dump that clunker after finishing it a month later, so I sold it on Ebay for around $30 bucks. Win-win.
