I fucking hate it when I hit the like button and not the reply.
Killing hundreds of children is badass?
All militaries so eager… more for war they bomb UN shelters are gross.
Besides the fact that using the word 'gross' in a conversation about war and alleged killing of children and bombing shelters makes me not want to respond, I'm referring to the times Israel has repelled invasion. I call the Wehrmacht bad asses as well, despite some of their terrible actions. Frankly, I don't care if Israel has done what you are claiming it has. Tell me, what major military hasn't done something horrific in their history? If there is one I actually like to know because I like knowing this kinds of things, they're interesting.
I'm sure @AWESOMEO will address your speech far better than this, so I just wanted to clear up what I meant.
Frankly given the unstabability of the world, lowering world resources, increasing population its only a matter of time till another world w… morear.... It always happens humans keep increasing until a big disaster regulates them again, disease used to be enough now it takes war. Its inevitable and I'm top of the list if it happens
Citation needed. I highly doubt that it went anything like your implying it did, which is they targeted the civilians, or just bombed for the hell of it with no intention other than to kill people.
It's not alleged, it's fact. Hundreds of children DID die. That's just truth.
Israel repelling invasion = fine. Bombing UN shelters, killing children? Not fine.
My country doesn't have a draft not everyone is built to be a soldier so your sending lambs to the slaughter. You shouldn't force someone to war to be killed potentially no one deserves that power over the people.
My Dad is a british war veteran and I can tell you if the war doesn't kill you and you survive, the mental trauma will damage you for the rest of your life war never ends for soldiers. Only the strong willed can even stand a chance
In a democracy you should be allowed to only fight for what you belief in by forcing your hand to fight for their beliefs not your's it,s a form of slavery to me. Most wars in recent years have shown to be just for money with hidden agendas you die and fight for nothing
I'm still extemely butthurt over Muhammad Ali greatest fighter of all time in his peak banned from fighting for years over refusing to kill people and be in the draft
I'd be a great soldier but I'd never join as wars nowadays are about nothing but making money and killing innocent defenseless civilians in poor countries.
Drafts are nothing but the rich forcing their people to fight their wars like chess pieces whatever it;s for, for it even to exist is disturbing
No I just see it as an inevitability. The world cannot cope on resources so something counterbalances it, not to mention how people forget wars within a generation (not in memory but experience), I have no idea what wars like and I'm pretty old now.
War is pretty terrible however from what I've learned. I hope I never experience it; doing horrible things must play on your conscience especially with such hard decisions in quick situations.
I will say the modern age likely has an army of people who would be clueless on a battlefield. I'm sure their are plenty of good soldiers but most people I know (and me) would be at a loss after having such a comfortable upbringing. And looking at todays brats its going to get worse and worse
I'm not sure I agree. What resources is "the world" lacking from overpopulation and solely from overpopulation? And how would a decrease in population balance an imbalance in these resources?
You see war as a means to regulate population?
No I just see it as an inevitability. The world cannot cope on resources so something… more counterbalances it, not to mention how people forget wars within a generation (not in memory but experience), I have no idea what wars like and I'm pretty old now.

Not the same expectations since there are physical differences, but they give fair chances to all women who want to fight in places like golani or giv'ati (infantry troops). I think there are units for girls only, but also big mixed ones. There are female pilots and women that drive tanks.
How does women as infantry work out? It's a cause in process here, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. Many men still prioritize women's l… moreives and wellbeing, so it could cause problems in a pinch. Also women are genetically physically weaker than men. Does the Israeli military have equal expectations between the sexes to be infantry?
Yeah, I don't think I would be okay with that. If a woman wants to serve by my side (if I were infantry) in a battle I'm all for it, but she should be able to accomplish the same physical tasks as I can, or at least to the minimum requirements as males.

I understand the necessity of the draft, and I am not opposed to it being reinstated if our country ever finds itself in a situation where there is absolutely no other option. However, I am glad that the draft is no longer enforced, because I think it's far better to have soldiers who want to be there and protect their country than soldiers who don't want to be there and are only serving because they were forced into it by the law. War is horrific on a multitude of levels, and it always will be. Unfortunately, it is not only necessary, but inevitable in order to keep our people safe. That's just the way it is. I have the utmost respect for our soldiers, they get their hands dirty so we don't have to.
I don't see the American government utilizing the draft unless we wound up getting desperate...or a World War III busts out but I don't see that happening in the next couple years.
How do I know they have the sexiest military? Well I searched "Israeli soldier" (or something close to that) because I was curious about what their uniform looked like, and I found a lot of pictures of the women soldiers wearing..... well not much.
I don't see the American government utilizing the draft unless we wound up getting desperate...or a World War III busts out but I don't see that happening in the next couple years.
You didn't do enough searching then. Google "Israeli female soldiers" that should limit the types of images you receive in the name of.... cough..... science.
It's honestly sort of a difficult question for me, as both sides of the argument definitely have merit. I think as citizens who reap the obvious benefits of our respective countries (one of those benefits being protection), we have a duty to do our part when our country calls upon us for help. That said, I'm not sure if forcing a select group of individuals into becoming soldiers is the right way to go about it. In doing so, you're forcing those citizens to potentially give up their lives, and of course many would in fact end up dying as a result (especially if a conflict is at the point of an army actually needing to draft soldiers). So while I do believe we should do our part to help in times of need, I don't think the government forcefully sending citizen's directly into the conflict is necessarily the right thing to do. Draftees should be given other alternatives that would also benefit the war effort. If they don't want to be forced into combat, I don't think they should be. I should also clarify that I believe these alternatives should be just as viable an option as being sent into combat. You shouldn't have to provide proof of specific moral or religious objections in order to choose an alternative to combat. I also believe that a draft should only be enacted in times of great need.
Perhaps I'm looking at this situation too ideally, but this is where I stand at this point.
In another fifty Years America will have Terminators, so at that point its GG for 3rd world countries that get in America's way. Technology is moving so fast its almost scary.
And after using those innocents as meat shields they have the gall to scream "Oh, help us! Israeli soldiers are killing innocent civilians!" in an attempt to garner pity and sympathy from other nations. The worst part? Some people buy it.
I didn't say we didn't do it or that we weren't responsible for it, I said that it was a result of protecting the nation they were formed to… more protect.
We were aware that it was risky, but those weapons were used to kill civilians of our own, as well as for holding resources they were using to dig underground tunnels that were meant to reach settlements with Israeli families, to commit jihad and bomb them. They've started doing it again lately, I expect we might take action, but what else were we supposed to do? Also, we didn't know that the Hamas was using the civilians as human shields, you do know that a decent amount of the casualties is a result of them using innocent people (who wanted to get out of there) as human shields, right?
I really think that's the excuse people use. Remember how the military was supposed to collapse into disarray when we got rid of Don't Ask, Don't Tell?
A large part of training (to my understanding) is basically getting you to be willing to die to save the person next to you without thinking, man or woman. I don't in an actual combat situation that whole 'gentleman' cultural norm would take into effect.

Not just "some", their bullshit actually made a lot of people call us nazis... You know, "IsraHELL" and all the bullshit that 14 year old brats come up with on Youtube videos that mention the word "Israel"

That's just my thought on the subject, though.
I don't see it as an excuse, but as a reason. There is no study to my knowledge that has tested this, but from an anecdotal perspective I can say that if a man screamed and a woman screamed I know which I would go to help first, and fairly regardless of the situation (obviously some circumstances would change that, but for the most part). And I would have to assume that there are many like minded individuals in the military.
They do train you to give your life for the person next to you. The problem is when dying (or something else: EG endangering the mission) for one person takes priority over another, that could potentially cause problems.

I'm not so concerned with the idiotic comments of 14 year olds on YouTube, but it did gain a lot of momentum from people like the very Left here in the US. And I'm sure that wasn't a trend that ended in the US either. Then those people go off spouting nonsense to defend the horrible actions of the "innocent" Muslims (disclaimer, Muslim Extremists, since my view doesn't abide by the forum guideline of "respect everyone") saying that they are giving equal treatment to both sides, when one is clearly more guilty than the other.

Hahaha. Anyways, ttyl.

In the world we live in it is cheaper to buy materials than to go to war for materials. (Paraphrased from the end of the video.)

I googled this for purposes of science and found nothing but bearded men. You have left me and the scientific community sad this day.
World War 3 will last about 2 hours I reckon.

I disagree with everything in this post.
Just out of curiosity, are you a fan of The Young Turks on YouTube?

u make jokes but Its not like they can't get to Mexico and cross like everyone else does. You won't be laughing when it happens.

Nicely put.
Check out Atheism-is-Unstoppable-4 on YouTube. He doesn't talk about Atheism, but I'm currently enthralled with his positions on Islam.
