It's a baseball drama about a scrappy high school team trying to claw their way to the nationals, and the neurotic yet talented pitcher they stumble upon. It's all about the strategy and mindgames of baseball, and how people have to dedicate themselves to extreme degrees to succeed.
It's a surprisingly realistic show with few over-the-top comedic moments like you see in most anime, and it's such a tense and intelligent portrayal of the sport that it got me into baseball IRL as a result. It really drives home how interesting baseball is when you realize how much goes into it in terms of competitive play.
I've been watching anime for over a year now and I'm enjoying it. Here are some good anime that I've watched.

How long have you been watching anime? and have you watched any good anime recently?
"The Wolf Children"
Oh man, I love Mamoru Hosoda's work! Have you seen Summer Wars or The Girl Who Lept Through Time? Same director, wonderful little dramas.

Been an avid animation nerd all my life, but got into anime back in the early/mid 90s with stuff like Ranma 1/2, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Akira etc.
Favorite anime I've seen in the past few years: Attack on Titan, Big Windup, Black Lagoon (think Cowboy Bebop but about modern day pirates), Berserk (huge fan of the manga, the new films are pretty decent places to start), Parasyte (also a big fan of the manga, the new anime does a great job adapting it), Kino's Journey is a wonderful little series about a young girl who travels via motorcycle to various villages and explores new cultures for three days, only to move onto the next place. It's a wonderful little series of short stories about humanity, how we relate to each other, and how customs can be formed in a variety of ways, to mixed results.
In terms of fluffy shounen stuff:
I'm an unapologetic One Piece fan, the show makes me feel like a little kid.
Hunter x Hunter is a delightful little action-adventure romp that strips out a lot of what I hate in shounen series, and keeps the spirit of adventure and exploration. It never lingers on a storyline for too long, and some of the arcs can go some weird and dark places.
Heroman: Stan Lee helped write a superhero anime, and it's colorful saturday morning cartoon fun. Alien bugs invade, a plucky americn boy gets a sentient robot to help him fight them, and it's all beautifully animated and charming. The name is dumb but it's worth watching.
I tend to get pretty picky about anime, as I love animation and comics but find that a lot of the stuff that has been popular the past 8-10 years or so is appealing strictly to Japanophiles, and ends up being impenetrable. I love when a series thinks globally (FMA, Attack on Titan, etc). Most anime nowadays is so predictable that I find it tedious and hard to recommend.

The real piece day resistance with that image is it putting fujoshi on blast, as if anime isn't largely the domain of dudes what like young anime girlz.
Parasyte is amazing, I read the manga when episode 5 came out because I couldn't wait. I cried when I finished it, and I didn't cry from things like TWD (or anything really) ever so that was kind of amazing.
Comments
Nah I'm joking, I love Death Note and SnK the most.

There is,
Serious Cartoons: Shows that aren't anime but are Serious in a Nature that they deserve to be. Example: Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Teen Titans.
Harem Anime: Anime that's often Sexualized. Such as, Heavens Lost Property, Girls Bravo, Etc.
All of these animes are the Best. Which one should we talk about my Fellow Otakus?
