That's not Otaku, that Hikki gomori or something like that. Usually people just use Otaku to mean anime nerd (or, in Japanese, it just means nerd, to my understanding), as in a hobby.

When I first watched it, I could enjoy it for its cliched story. But then it annoyed me immensely when Kirito managed to make so many girls fall in love with him like a dating sim god. I think the story would have improved MASSIVELY if the writer cut down on the amount of fan-service, strangled with red string romance and focused on the characters (Kirito being in a group rather than a solo player) and keep it in Sword Art game. If there must be romance, then fine, just don't make it seems forced and undeveloped.
The story had some serious potential when the story touched on how many players wanted to stay in the world. There could have been more about questioning what is reality and if anyone really want to return to the real world where they might not be what they are in the game. Lots of potential for some good serious drama.
The problem stems from the series roots in 'light novels', which tend to be focused on romantic storylines (usually of the harem variety).
It's like how The Hunger Games would've been better without any of the 'shipping' stuff and focusing on the dark social commentary, but the romance stuff gets butts in seats.

Just giving my opinion.
In Japan, 7-Eleven is offering limited edition statues of Attack on Titan’s Levi Ackerman and Eren Yeager. The Eren statue measures 172 cm (5.64 feet), while the Levi one is 162 cm (5.3 feet). Each is priced at 1,728,000 yen (US$14,438)
Honestly, I'm not too into anime, there are some things I find enjoyable; but people take it way too far. Next month they're opening Death Note the Musical.
Sie sind das essen?
Nein, wir sind der Jaegar!

Not so long ago, I finished watching Cowbow Bebop. An excellent anime in my opinion. I always love science-fiction combined with a crew of characters. Also, the take on the future is very fascinating. I like how most of the episodes consist of the characters living their lives in a wide universe in stead of facing a galactic wide danger. They aren't heroes, they are just people. There is no overall act besides the character's own personal story. It is just life.

I pour your orange juice.
I was just repeating what GOUSTTTT said.

Yes, Sword Art Online is the worst.

That's not a joke. Death Note. The Musical.

Kind of ironic to sell life-size statues to people who apparently have no sense of proportion... I mean nearly $15,000, jeez.

And the music is god-like.
Anyone see Corpse Party (the anime)
It shows the "bad" choices of the game. Non-canon from the game btw
Pretty much LiS + Mortal Kombat = Corpse Party
GRAMMAR NAZI MODE ACTIVATE
To be the closest to grammatically correct as one can, the sentance whould be written as "This anime girl kawaii desu, ne?" XD. < (that was a joke)
But that aside, I agree with your observation.
