What's the worst game you ever played and why?

It can be just terrible or something you were really hyped for which turned out really bad.

Arkham Origins was hype bad for me and Arkham Blackgate on Vita was terrible but I'll need to write paragraphs to explain properly

You?

I've actually played the two games that people usually bring up when talking about the worst games. I rented Superman for Nintendo 64 when it first came out, and bought E.T. for Atari 2600 in a lot at a rummage sale. They both have unfun gaming mechanics, and are just painful to play. I've played bad games since I played these, but nothing else I've played even comes close to the frustration of these two. They definitely deserve their titles as the worst games ever made.

  • Hella right... kinda makes me sad face.

Big Rigs. I fuckin despise that game. For a simple amount of reasons:

    • "Select Car" instead of "Select Truck"
    • This was actually sold
    • It says "YOU'RE WINNER"
    • You win no matter what
    • Graphics are dreadful
    • Has more bugs than AC: Unity
    • Somebody actually gave this an ESRB rating
    • Somebody made this game
  • If Arkham Origins is the worst game you have played, OP, consider yourself lucky.

I would give a vote to Big Rigs (doesn't even fuckin' work), The Cheetahmen (good lord), The Town With No Name (MY EYES), and Bible Adventures.

Though I have never played it, Plumbers Don't Wear Ties also gets a dishonorable shout out.

  • I wouldn't say it was the worst game, and I don't go out my way to play atrocious games, but I found that FFXIII was a disappointment during the year I played it.

For a story driven game, there's no real plot other than 'wander around two worlds aimlessly while constantly wondering and talking about what their inexplicable mission is meant to be, and then talk about fighting against fate while mindlessly going along with the villain's plan'.

The characters are pretty uninteresting and unlikable at times, and they don't have a lot of character development or relationship that makes we want to care for them.

The world feels hollow and boring, unless you take the time to stop playing and spend hours reading the Datalog, which is basically a built-in encyclopaedia of the entire game, and who would do that?

And the 'in media res' narrative experiences didn't work for the game, and the plot just fell apart as soon as the 'Gods' who granted these indescribable missions to the cast are actually capable of speech, thus making them turning to their slaves needlessly complicated and futile to begin with if you won't just tell them what their mission is in the first place.

It's only saving grace is the battle system, and it's unfortunately restricted for a long period of time until the third to last chapter of the game.

tbh It is I always research every game I buy gameplay videos, reviews etc I've always been really lucky with games I haven't played to many bad ones :)

I never played any of those but even by the name I can tell they are awful

  • If it comes off as me stating it as fact, then I apologize. That's not how I meant for it to sound, I have no problem with people who like it, I just can't see the big deal about this game.

I disagree and you seem to like to state this everywhere as fact.

  • I was going to say this.

When I saw the first commenter on the thread before even clicking it I knew he was going to say 'Life is strange is a pile of crap'

I disagree and you seem to like to state this everywhere as fact.

  • It's all cool, I just see you stating it rather than saying "in your opinion".

For me, I like the game. Yes it's full of clichés and other things but it is somewhat real, clichés are in real life...Or at least in my high school. Also I like to forget about that and immerse myself into the world as I do with any video game. It also includes very sensitive topics for me like bullying and suicide which actually urked me real bad as I've had a lot of experiences with it in my own life.

I feel as though Life is Strange isn't a game for everyone and rather the enjoyment factor is how well you can connect to the experiences in the game and how well you're able to immerse yourself. It's okay for me to like it and for you to dislike it but in the day it's down to opinions and therefore the game can't be declared terrible or fantastic as it's up to the player to decide that themselves.

(Sorry for the long rant here...I'm just really bored waiting for Episode 3 to download.)

  • I don't play many bad games because I only really play games that my friends (who are obviously like minded people) reccomend to me. So actually I'd have to say TWD Season 2, just because I didnt find myself enjoying it that much. Can't think of a game I've enjoyed less in all honesty, because I only play games I'm pretty sure I'm going to love.

  • I agree personally I did not enjoy s2 :)

  • idk but i play game that i think they will be cool. probably the Terminator Salvation game, i mean it was a movie game and i found it fun, but it did reassured me to not play movie games again..

  • BUBSY 3D the worst piece of shit I've ever put into my PS1 including the time I put a piece of shit in my PS1.

  • No problem man, I hope you enjoy it, I watched SwingPoynt's play through on YT, I will say it was probably the best episode of the three, not going to spoil anything though.

  • Side-tracking the topic a little, what does everyone think when it comes to hearing the worst music in video games?

I found myself laughing my head off listening to Resident Evil: Director's Cut, it's just so terrible.

Big Rigs. This game is like a video game version of The Room, where it's just so terrible that it manages to cross back over into being funny, then it double-crosses back to being terrible, then it triple-crosses back to being funny again. Despite all of that, I can't bring myself to hate this game, because reversing your truck until you break 1000mph is far too amazing to hate.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. I can't believe that this game was full price at $60, and I can't believe I nearly paid full price for this thing. Hell, even not paying full price left me contemplating my life choices that led to me making such a fateful decision.

There's very few games I actually dislike. Even shitty games like Big Rigs I can find something funny or enjoyable about. Survival Instinct on the other hand, I really cannot think of much that I actually liked. I can't fully bash the game though, it did have some good ideas and concepts, but the execution rendered those good ideas moot.

Bottom line being, SI was a bonafide cash-grab that was made after someone at Activision, AMC or somewhere else saw how well the Telltale game did, then took everything Telltale did and managed to do it completely wrong in the process.

  • Big Rigs

Oh c'mon what other game can you defy gravity and momentum and be an unstoppable force and go through trees and house like nothing ;)

  • Awww...more E.T. bashing??? :)

I always thought it was a decent game, but I understand the hatred, seeing how easy it was to fall in pits.

I've barely played it, and I still have to agree with you. I couldn't even bring myself to finish the first episode.

  • L.A. Noire. Worst game ever...nah, that's not fair. But it was such an uninspired open world--amazing, considering how big it was. You basically had to follow the main plot, and once in awhile when you're cruising there might be a bank robbery you'd have to foil...if you waited long enough.

By comparison, I could play Red Dead Redemption for days without following the main storyline, there was so much to do.

Since you're a cop, you weren't allowed to do anything evil. No running over innocent bystanders. But I was BORED!

  • Neither can I, hell I can barely watch when someone else plays it. I usually don't like them, but the only play through of this game I actually enjoy watching is TheSw1tcher's, or The Two Best Friend's.

I don't play many games that I don't like, but I have to say that Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 were all really bad shooters. Not very much fun at all.

Edit: I've never played any beyond Black Ops 2, and I never played Modern Warfare 3, which might have come out before Black Ops 2 but I don't really know and I'm not interested in spending the 15 seconds to look it up, which I could have been doing while making this edit. Anyways, Call of Duty and Battlefield games in the last few years have been awful. I enjoyed Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and the first Black Ops was pretty good, but after that, meh.

WORST GAME EVER. I went into this game thinking it was going to be a spooky house mystery game, and it ended going in a direction there was no returning from. This game is so bad, i rather kiss a bulimic after she purged then play this game. Mmm what is that, your lunch i taste.

  • It gets way better in the second episode.

How this won GOTY , I'll never know.

Weak storyline , forgettable characters ,stiff animation , and game breaking glitches.

  • Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I never thought I'd play a game where I had to make a 3 point turn just to turn the character around. lmao
