  • So can anyone recommend me some good current day female rock/Metal bands? I feel like listening to something different :P

  • I'd recommend what I showed Eddie_Maiden, but I don't know if you want to listen to a foreign band.

  • Damn, that's a tough one. The only one that comes to mind is Kittie. They started back in like '99 or '00 I think but are still making music now.

This is from their most recent album, which came out in 2011.

  • Maybe not quite metal, but my favorite female-vocal (not entirely female) hard rock bands are:

The Pretty Reckless: Taylor Momsen has a bunch of really good songs! Ignore any thoughts of her being an actress. :)

Halestorm: Lzzy also has some good ones, though there are a few that I don't like as much.

In This Moment: Lots of screaming and grating lyrics, so not for everyone.

Lacuna Coil: Though I haven't heard much from them lately, hmmmm....

Skillet: Has been mentioned here I think, has a few good ones.

Flyleaf: Also a few good ones, I think they qualify as a Christian rock band.

Any of those you've never heard of before?

  • My days of being a metal head are behind me now but I still have my favorites.

    1. Metallica
    2. Slayer
    3. Black Sabbath
    4. Pantera
    5. Iron Maiden/Judas Priest

I don't have a favorite song but my favorite metal guitar player is James Hetfield he is a machine when it comes to metal rhythm playing. The last concert I went to was a thing called Comfest in Columbus Ohio but it was a bunch of hippie music. I have seen Metallica three times Danzig, Suicidal Tendencies, Metal Church, Exodus, Jerry Cantrell I will just list those there are to many I can't remember.

  • James is definitely one of the best metal guitarists, way better than Kirk. He and Lars are the driving forces of Metallica.

  • Here is a good video about him it helps if you are into guitars.

So, metal in video games, anyone? I'm not sure what sub-genre this falls under, but I love it.

  • James and Dave Mustaine are both awesome guitarists. I personally think both are better than Kirk Hamster.

The forum HipHopHead is saves the rock thread! These are some of my favorites.

Ok, ok. So that last one is technically hip-hop. But there's no denying that Andre 3000 can rap AND play a mean guitar solo.

You're a good person for helping out the metal fans of the forums. I'll raise you another rap / metal song by a band a lot of people distaste but I find endearing.

I know some of the metal elitists sneer at the sound of the Bizkit, but damn did they have some great banging metal tracks.

  • In this instance I side with metal elitists, because I just can't get into their sound. My personal favorite rap/metal band is Rage Against the Machine. I imagine most people have heard them, but for those who haven't this is one of their most popular songs.

And this is my favorite of theirs.

  • That album cover is fucking awesome, and the release is less than 3 months away. Looks like we have a song that surpasses Rime of the Ancient Mariner in length.

@MetallicaRules Disc 1 * If Eternity Should Fail (Dickinson) 8:28 * Speed Of Light (Smith/ Dickinson) 5:01 * The Great Unk

  • And one that is 13:33, which is only 6 seconds shorter. Then there's a 10:27 song. The shortest song is 4:59. This is going to be a bad ass album I just know it. Also, 2 songs are written exclusively by Dickinson, and 2 more are written by Bruce/Adrian, so I wonder if we'll get a sound similar to Bruce's solo albums. I'm so excited for this album.
