Knowing my opinion about Anita Sarkeesian's work, I can say that I disagree with her without even watching the video.
I consider myself a feminist, but I'm okay with make believe violence. Not real violence, but digital people's heads exploding on a screen? Go nuts. I love Fallout. More for the environment and the humor (I LOVE easter eggs...), but still, good stuff.
I disagree with her a lot, but I have a bit of a softie for Sarkeesian. I blame McIntosh. He seems like the real liberal douche behind the curtain. But she's the one who has to eat the shit (some of which is merited). I'm sure that's somehow going to be interpreted as misandrist, but fuck it.

I can see your point, though. McIntosh is most likely the progressive (or, IMO, regressive) mastermind behind a lot of the stuff she puts out, but most of the people are largely unaware of him, so she gets most of the blame.
IMO everyone is entitled in to their opinion, and i would say Anna that is yours, where i preordered my copy, and will be playing it, November 11, so now go in the kitchen and make me a sandwhich. She looks at me like i just killed her family, It was just a joke.
Anita has the right to criticise whatever she wants, but she should be prepared to get shit for it. I honestly can't stand her. On the odd occasion that she does use fact, she twists it so that it supports her crazy conspiracy that game developers are out to reinforce female stereotypes. Although I agree sexism does need addressing in the industry, Anita is not the person to spear head it. She's simply not educated enough in the subject and can't tell the difference between what is and what isn't - this also applies to her other subject matters. She seems like a nice girl who knows her games, but when she tries to put a slant on anything, she just comes off as a troll and an attention seeker.
And yet in that picture with the huge stack of video games she plays, she has some of the most violent games. Go figure, she doesn't even try to not look fake anymore.
She plays them so she can have something to complain about. For her, complaining = profit.
You know you're a modern feminist when you're complaining about "oppression" in video games rather than actual oppression and sexism in third world countries. Honestly, the whole thing pisses me off. How she has such a huge fanbase that eat up her bullshit is beyond me

She is making a difference, because she's the first person to start a discussion about this topic while having an actual audience. And the pissed-off people and their aggressive reactions are just part of this audience. It's funny.

Her critique of games isn't the issue. Her using victim-hood as a money making scheme is. She is the Al Sharpton of games. She goes where the action is and then gets up on her soap box for the attention and donations. She doesn't have an honest or legitimate critique either. She regularly manipulates scenes, misrepresents, or even lies to prove her 'point'.
And think about her concept 'tropes in video games'. Tropes are universal to story telling no mater what the form. Tropes are tropes because they have a universal appeal and touch on something about being human that makes the story compelling. This idea that these tropes are unique to video games and are harmfully sexist is ridiculous. Tropes are tropes because humans, men and women, respond to them.
Because she chooses to criticise video games. We're free to choose our occupations, right? There's also people who analyze literature and movies concerning sexism and other social issues. Why not include video games?
