Definitely the Dreamcast. I was a huge Dreamcast fan, and even dabbled in programming for it for a while. The fact that the MIL-CD format made it easy to program and release games for it made it a dream machine for me. Plus, because the MIL-CD format allows regular CDs to be read in the Dreamcast without need for additional hardware, people are still releasing games for it to this day.
The Dreamcast was WAY ahead of its time. If only if it had a DVD player at launch, it would have stood a chance against the PS2
Never played any of the sega consoles, unfortunately.
Genisis

That's my second favorite Sega console. I liked the Saturn and the Master System, but I had a lot more fun with games on the Genesis. A lot of this had to do with the fact that it was actually the most purchased console in North America for a while, so it had a lot of great third party games. I was mostly a fan of the Super Nintendo, but I also had a Genesis, and I liked some of the Genesis versions of games a lot better (such as Aladdin and Mortal Kombat - especially the Sega CD version of Mortal Kombat).
I also had a great time with the Sega Game Gear (which is essentially the Master System with a smaller screen). I had the Sega Nomad for a while (which was a portable Genesis), and it was great, although the battery life was pretty bad.
Might be stupid but Sega CD was great. It had many memorable games(Snatcher, Terminator, Spider-Man vs Kingpin...) and it looked quite nice in my opinion.
No zis its not a stupid choice sega cd is good from what i heard and researched in reviews and such i have never owned or played 1 but its not bad so ur choice is actually a good choice rather then a stupid choice
Nah, the Sega CD is great. It was just marketed poorly. They tried to beat the SNES CD to market, but that never happened. If they waited a few years, and upped the release of the 32X so that the Sega CD and 32X would be a single unit (rather than the confusing Genesis/32X/SegaCD/SegaCD 32X combinations of software that were available in the market), the sales and customer perspectives of those units would likely be a lot different than they were.
As it was, the SegaCD was rushed, and the 32X came too late. And neither were properly marketed. As much as I loved Sega prior to the end of the Dreamcast, product release and marketing had never been their strong point.
I know right?
Dreamcast for Life! Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Resident Evil 3, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radi-OH! OH MY GOD, JET SET RADIO... SOOOO GOOD
Making it even more confusing, there was even a Sega Mega LD addon for the Pioneer Laseractive Laserdisc player (which was strangely called Mega LD even in North America, rather than Sega LD, although the unit itself was still labeled as Genesis).
Sega always loved making hardware as much as they did games. While having a lot of different hardware platforms helped them a lot in the arcade market, it actually hurt them in the home market.
I love the Saturn despite all the hardware problems it had. It had a ton of cool shoot-em-ups, 2D fighters, brawlers, and some weird RPGs.
Any system that had Nights Into Dreams and Scud The Disposable Assassin is okay in my book!
Ever Play the Phantasy Star Series?
I played Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast, but I have yet to play the offline games in the series (which is unusual for me, as I don't normally play online multiplayer games).
They are definitely on my to play list though. I'm going to be going on a long road trip across the United States, Canada, and the safe parts of Mexico starting next month, so I'll have a whole bunch of down time. Most of my down time will be devoted to art, writing, and creating music, but I'm planning to start up my subscription to ConsoleClassix again as well, so those will be among the first Master System and Genesis games I play, as I've wanted to try them out for quite some time.
DARK FORCE AWAITS.... The original ones were kind of like a combination of Dragon Warrior/Fantasy Star. The fourth one is the best, but i liked 2-4. Three actually has multiple endings.
Be careful.
I have Genesis just above the Dreamcast because I kinda hated the controller. It was a great concept but I never felt comfortable with it.
My only problem with the Saturn was that the U.S. missed out on a lot of good games.
Oh I know! It's so tragic that a lot of Sega's legacy from then on was a lot of amazing titles never making it out west.
Sorry for the huge delay in my reply. I went to Cape Cod with my mom, her boyfriend, my sister, and her son. I greatly overestimated the amount of exhaustion that traveling with a four year old would cause. Pretty much all of my downtime consisted of me sleeping. :Y
Thanks for the concern. I've decided to postpone my Mexico trip until I get moved into my new abode in California, as it would be much safer to only take the essentials with me. So, this road trip will just be me travelling across the USA and Canada until I end up in California. I'll definitely have down time on that trip, as my four year old nephew isn't going with me. :P
The only Sega systems I had were Game Gear and Dreamcast, so I would say Dreamcast. The thing had internet capability in '99.
Sega was always ahead of the curve when it came to technology. Heck, the Saturn had internet capability in 1996. Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks to their love of technology was that they released too many peripherals and overcrowded the market, confusing consumers.
Yeah the Dreamcast had that umd memory card with the screen in the controller and the gun for House of the Dead 2 that would never calibrate quite right. Meanwhile countless ducks were needlessly slaughtered by the NES light gun that didn't need to be calibrated and worked perfectly as long as you had the finger strength to keep shooting.
