Happy Fifteenth Birthday, Final Fantasy IX!
Fifteen years ago today, my all-time favorite RPG was released unto the wilds.
Honestly, I can't believe how well it's aged.

It was a good one. Great breath of relief after all the angst in 7 and 8.
I love how quaint and low stakes most of it was. "Hey lets go over here and see what this neat city is all about. Okay now lets go find out about whats up with Vivi. Alrighty, now lets go to a town where it never stops raining. Cool, now lets go explore an ice cavern."
It is just so nice, adorable and kind hearted with moments of real sadness.
If you really like the tone and approach of this entry, I highly recommend Bravely Default. It's a better FF than most modern FFs and has a really charming story and cast.
Bravely Default is the best FF in the past five years. If I had a Japanese 3DS I would already be playing it
It being the sequel, Bravely Second. I loved the first one to pieces.
I regret never giving this game a shot. The cutesy look of it really turned me off to it when it released, but I've heard only good things about it. It can't be worse than any of the FF games that came after it.
Do it. It's dirt cheap on PSN.
At first I thought it was YOUR fifteenth birthday and I was about to type, "Oh, Happy Birthday." Then I reread the title and felt like a dumbass.
Considering I was already in high school when I played it...
It was pretty forgettable, imo, I do remember they introduced the final boss in the last two minutes of the game. CLASSIC
That was part of the charm for me, I miss a time when RPGs were all 'oh I guess there's an evil wizard who wants to rule the world we should probably fight him bc we're done exploring forests and caves now'. :P
This game was my very Final Fantasy game back when it was released, and though I sound biased I consider IX to be the best of the series, even if X was the first one I completed.
Playing the game again with the Unleashed Hard Mode patch made the entire experience fun to play.
Ever play the Grandia Series, you might like it. At least the first two.
