FLOOR 21 - Dystopian Sci-Fi Horror YA

It's Friday! So I'm going to ask you to take a second out to indulge me. A few of you may remember me from throughout the last few years. I've always been of the writing persuasion. Previously I'd written for Blizzard Entertainment as well as been a sports journalist. But in March of this year I was offered a contract and my book, FLOOR 21, now sells through the Scout Press imprint.

FLOOR 21 is a YA sci-fy dystopian horror about a young girl named Jackie that lives at the top of an apartment tower with the last of humanity. Nobody knows how they got there or what's beneath the 21st floor. All they know is they don't know if there's a ground level or how they got trapped at the top of the tower. A biological infestation known as the Creep kills almost anyone who goes beneath the 21st floor, and the food they live on is farmed off gardens at the top of the tower.

Every three months there is a Scavenging, an effort by trained troops to head deeper into the lower floors and bring back any food they find, and this is both how humanity survives as well as a tower wide event that everyone looks forward to. However, it's not the job of the Scavengers to try and find ground floor. In fact, Jackie isn't even sure anyone is actually looking for ground, since a set of religious principles talk about the Builders one day returning to take everyone into the heavens. This she finds to be nonsense, and decides to go exploring for herself.

Anyway, if you're interested, do take a look on Amazon.

  • I got it last night and like it! I'm only on recording six so far but I will definitely read more later :)

  • Hey thanks Saltlick. It's not everyone's cup of tea, most of the complaints are from people that don't like Jackie's 'teen' voice, but I mean, there's no such thing as a book that makes everyone happy. If you end up enjoying it, LIKE SHARE SUBSCRIBE uhhh sorry, that's youtube. I meant leave a review and tell a friend :D

  • If I had any money I would buy it. Where to find a xample of this, so maybe next time I get money I would buy it.

  • The first two recordings are available on Amazon. I'm actually unable to give out samples due to contractual reasons, but at least on the Amazon preview you can get an idea for whether you like it or not.

  • This is a picture of Jackie I drew for July 4th. I like to do art for my fandom.

Really? On Amazon most of the reviews are 4 and 5 stars, then the lowest is only 3 so that shows something. I will definitely review it on Amazon, good job writing it though! :)

Nice :) I was wondering if there was going to be a sequel, since you know it leaves you thinking about what's gonna happen next.

  • Yeah book 1 was geared around gauging interest, written with enough mysteries to warrant a sequel but a selfcontained story in case there weren't any sequels. But yes, response has been really good so I'll be having the sequel published in a few months.

  • This is the last of my collages.
My publisher is actually running a big promotion this coming month so that's exciting. The book will be advertised on multiple tablets and kindle apps, so that should help drive sales.

  • Dude, that premise is fucking genius. If I had any money at the moment, I'd buy it.

  • Thanks Ralo, hopefully you're able to pick up a copy soon, I'd love to see what you think :)

Purchased. Loooooooong train ride tonight... so I can get started on it.

  • You can probably finish it, at 66,000 words it's long enough and short enough at the same time ;D

  • Already on 8. I like the mystery and the tone, and I understand the whiny teenager POV... It's one I've never been a fan of TBH. The fact that I'm still compelled to read more says a lot about your skill given a narrator like this would usually be a book closer for me.

  • Conceptually, the idea is that her tone matures over time as she gets older and experiences more throughout the series. It is a series that follows her as she ages.

  • I always draw Jackie in action poses and never take time out to just draw her as a person. I love her so much.

  • For the record, my book is currently in the top 100 Dystopian books on sale. So that's a good achievement in such a competitive genre. I mean, I'm up against stuff like Ready Player One and 1984 and my book's only been out two months.

  • Hey boys and girls, it's been a while (six months) and I've been steady working on new material for FLOOR 21, with book 3 set to release in 2017. I wanted to share some of the promotional art that has been created for the book to help portray the world. Hope you enjoy!
