I'm being serious, this is the reason I fell in love with Luke. This action, just the action nothing else. Who knew a tiny little thing like… more this could make me attached to him? XD But it did.
Although I did like his morals, I loved how he really tried with Clem, he saw her as a little girl that was capable of doing things and that is exactly what Clem is. Yes, some people say Luke is inconsistent and he is, but we have to analyse that now. Like in episode 3 people say that Luke suggesting leaving people behind is out of character but it isn't. Luke is known to panic under pressure and he had tried hard to persuade to group not to leave in their current condition, when everyone rejected that because Carver is crazy, Luke suggested leaving some people behind if they're in no shape to go, it was their last option and with everyone rejecting Luke's other idea, that was the next best thing. That isn't really out of Luke's character, it was just… [view original content]
That, I need to... hold on.
You are brilliant Lilac! hugs you Ok everyone, we need to make this into a meme, right now! Lilac, you have made something beautiful today!
Do you mean in a separate thread? (I'm confused by what you mean). I don't think I've seen a long post from you about Luke before. You normally just stay silently bitter. :P

Talk about it here! Right here, right now, right freaking now, when I'm so ready for a super long post from you! Who cares about arguments? We are here for Luke! You here that, Luke! We are here for Luke! Give me a post I can totally love you for! Coooooome onnnnn, since when did opinions scare you? Please, I will defend Luke til the end of time, this is no time to stay silent, this is a time to rise up and say, I LOVE LUKE BECAUSE. This is what this thread is about, put it in a spoiler, please. I wanna read your opinions so badly. Don't leave me hanging, cooome on.
No, I mean, I talk about it in other places just not this forum.
I stay silent here because posting a LAP is just begging for arguments. :P

Slight problem with that, I'm allergic to flowers. So, my eyes would feel like they were burning, they would water and I would sneeze until I get the hell away from the flower. XD
I'm gonna start by saying his introduction gave me very, very mixed feelings.
He comes in, saves the day and takes Clementine off a situation she was sure to die from. Sure, Pete was there but Luke stood out more with his "swoop in and save the day" act, you know? So I think "huh, this guy is pretty cool". Then the bite. The freaking bite's there and he just drops Clementine and the panic makes him act a bit stupid. Now I'm fuming because I'm being irrational too and I want the best for Clem and think "shit, I was wrong about him, Pete's the real man".
Then what does he do?
"I ain't carrying you."
The hell he isn't!
He does.
And then everyone's treating Clementine like dirt when he comes out and sticks by her side even if he doesn't know for sure that it's not a walker bite. This just screamed that was in fact a kind hearted person who just freaked out; and for good reason, considering what happened to Nick's mother, right? Can we really blame him? One talk with Pete while she was knocked out and he was defending Clementine. Didn't happen with the others until it turns out she wasn't bitten afterall. Also, not to forget the talk at dinner -- he was the only one who invited her to stay and was actually interested in her story and her as a person. I actually think he was craving a person to be close to since everyone in the cabin group was in duos and that just made me feel for him.
That already made me attached to him as a person and I truthfully wanted to ditch everyone but him and Pete.
Then Pete died and I still wasn't that attached to the rest of the cabin group (I get there but no one beats Luke for being there since Day 1!). Then comes up the part where he asks for Clementine's help and defends how capable she is. To me that meant a lot because everyone was making me feel useless. Having some trust actually feels nice, guys! And I thank the gods that I'm leaving them to spend some time with him because he doesn't make me feel stupid.
And come on, what better way to bond than killing zombies? I got a high five from him, doesn't get much better than that!
At this point I'm feeling the little sister/big brother vibes when they're together and I can't help but want to interact more with him because damn it, he's a genuinely nice person.
Then the lodge thing; believe it or not a lot of people say Luke wanting to hide the photo was a horrible thing of him but... while I understand they shouldn't hide things from Kenny I also understand Luke was just genuinely concerned about Nick's well being. They were friends for twenty years, man. How can he trust people he just met not to kill him over quite literally the murder of their friend? I agreed with him and I still don't think this is the disrespectful deal people make it out to be; more like him caring for his best friend.
Also, the stair moment was cute. Who doesn't wanna call their "brother" an idiot?
But then he disappears at the end of episode three and this where so many insults of him abandoning the group and everything came out before episode 3 was released. I was really down and actually starting to believe these theories. But it just sounded so off that someone who was trying to protect his best friend and someone who bonded with us as the player so much was just leaving us for dead. And that bullshit came out of Carver's mouth, who was literally kidnapping us and broke Carlos' fingers in the process.
Could you really trust that?
Turns out that no, you can't and this is when Luke absolutely stole the number 1 spot (well, not counting Clem but she's a special case) in my favourite characters.
He freaking followed them on foot in the danger of walkers everywhere without eating or sleeping for days. He managed to sneak in undetected and he didn't rest for a second to rescue everyone. Sure, the plan didn't go as he wanted (which means he even took a beating for us -- remember his ribs?) but the intention doesn't change. He risked his ass to save us when he could have just left. Carver wasn't looking for him so why did he come back?
Because he cared. And that just touched me a lot, I can't even explain it in detail.
I defended him when Kenny and Nick asked because I had faith and damn it, it paid off.
How many other characters would have gone through all this for their friends? Not many considering how many have even killed each other!
How about when he runs after Sarah? People love to mention he quits on her and leaves her to die but completely forgot that if Nick is already dead he's the only one who's in there for hours trying to get her to come with them. Not to mention how miserable he feels if you do leave Sarah which really isn't his fault.
Yeah, he fucked up with the Jane situation but doesn't everyone? He didn't do it out of malice. Sure, it doesn't change the fact that it caused major problems (and Sarah's death if you have her) but come on now there's a difference between being inherently malicious and being ignorant. It makes him an idiot in that occasion but it doesn't make him a bad person. If he didn't care for her he wouldnt have gone after her in the first place. And it might sound like an excuse but the writing in this episode was all over the place (I still enjoyed it though) which explains the lack of consistency in his character.
Then... episode 5.
If you don't go for the baby he risks his ass again and jumps in to grab him and gets shot in the process. I went for cover, personally, because I thought the baby was in no danger and thought his move to risk his ass to get him was stupid. But damn if it wasn't selfless and I admire that -- the reason I like his character, overall, is the kindness, afterall. There's not many people like that at that point in the apocalypse.
Then we get a small mourning moment, finally. This moment meant a lot specifically because he doesn't want anyone else to hear it -- he gets a bit moody if you tell Bonnie he's not feeling well -- but he confides in Clementine. It just reinforced the idea that he was somehow special (and how I get disappointed later on) and the bonding moments meant something. It just helped get attached to him.
Then the campfire scenes where we learn more about him helped connect with the character even more beyond just the personalities (which is all that's necessary for me but this was still nice) but it raised some alarm bells.
Then the fucking lake.
I am not talking about this lake.
Fuck every lake in existence.
tl;dr: He was a kind character who cared about everyone in the group. He fucked up because he's human but it doesn't change the type of person he is which is very rare in the apocalypse. It was easy to connect with him because of how many bonding moments you were offered which culminated in... absolutely nothing.
Can you all smell the bitter?
EDIT: I didn't even proofread this or anything... I just word vomited whatever I was thinking. Oops.
I don't really get how anyone could hate him that strongly...
Ah, I remember the days when people hated luke because of the christmas dinner choice in which they supported Ken and so they came up with theories that he's a paedophile and that he only went across the state to Howe's in order to molest clem
The group was going to end up on that deck anyways, so Sarah would've died regardless.
I'm one of the very few people who had no probl… moreem that Jane and Luke had sex... obviously.
I laughed so hard at that scene, I'm never going to get over how funny I found it XD it was like sitcom of having a little sister walk in on her older brother with his girlfriend. It was too funny, I'm laughing right now!
This is beautiful. Thanks for this! I can smell all the bitter but it's great, it's nice to see all of your thoughts at the time in one place. I don't know what else to say but you're right; fuck every lake in existence. :P

No problem! I'm happy I managed to persuade you, it was a good read! I'm glad it made you feel better, spilling all your thoughts onto a page is a good way to clear your head and look at how much you can achieve by being loudly bitter. :P

Why is soil dirty, but water liquid?

I think if I were to write a full post on Luke I'd end up making it a LAP.

Ehm. If Kenny didn't try to kill Jane, he wouldn't be dead.
He reminded me of myself and looks a lot like me. That's my reason.
If Jane didn't hide the baby, he wouldn't die.
This is one of the times I actually laugh my ass off in this forum. This picture will be remembered for it.

That was glooorious Wolf T.T be bitter more often bro.
I am always bitter. ;-;
Any hope of that bitterness going away in a future TWDG title? Because I'm not feeling it right now ;.; my bitterness is an inferno.
