Will the Apocalypse ever end?

Afterall, have anyone has thoughts on the apocalypse, when it will end?
Comparing to the series (The Walking Dead, AMC), the apocalypse has lasted for around 2 years, probably more according to the main characters age.
In the game, it was a year skip (2 years) in the beginning of season 2 which means that we have missed alot of things during the year skip.
Has anyone thoughts on how the apocalypse would end?

I mean, if you talk about those people who has never appeared in the game, comic nor the series (other civilians) must realize in some point that even if you're dead and not bitten, you can still reanimate.
I think in the beginning at the apocalypse, the amount of walkers has increased wildly mainly due to no one knew how to kill one before (you have to experimente) or how to become one. As I easy to say, It easy to assume a bite from them would result = reanimation. I think many civilians knew that but never knew when. After a time, civilians would realise too at some point even if you haven't got bitten, you'd still turn into a walker no matter the circumstances as long as the brain wasn't badly damaged or destroyed.

Do you think in some point during the apocalypse the amounts of walkers will decrease? I mean other people who has not being starred in the series must atleast know a part about how walkers work. The more experience with something, the more you know how to handle it right?
But also, do you think there's a time where the apocalypse will end? I'm talking about slowly. In the last of us, 20 years later since the outbreak, the walkers was still there. I'd rather think that the apocalypse will vanish away slowly and in some point during the time, there will only be few walkers you can see, probably a month.

What do you think?

(I apologize for my grammar or if there was something you didn't understand, please tell me and I'd like to explain.)
(However, critism, ideas and other arguments are welcome aswell too.)

  • nope, because IMO the meaning of Apocalypse means end of the world, and to me, even if humanity is gone, it woudln't be the end of the world. The earth is still here, the sun, the animals, plants, etc.

The walkers would eventually rot out but that would take a long time but is it really an apocalypse? Because if you look at the series, it's only in the U.S, they haven't showed other countries so it doesn't mean that the rest of the world is shit.

  • As I've heard from the Wiki, they've tried to not mention so much about other countries but I've heard about that they've mention about France or something?

  • Idk what Kirkman's planning as far as his comic goes, for the end of the apocalypse. He's gotta end the series sometime, because otherwise it's just going to get very stale. For the show, I know the producers have talked about an "endgame" in that they talked about concluding the characters' emotional aspects of their arcs at the very least, but it might not correlate with the comics because the show producers didn't want to be spoiled on Kirkman's future unreleased comics lol.

I'm also annoyed in this franchise how no scientists or doctors ever seem to be working on a cure. There was only that Jenner dude from the CDC (in the show, dunno about the comic), and I think that Milton guy who was the Governor's assistant at Woodbury also experimented on Michonne's "pet" walkers. Jenner gave up when he lost his last walker brain tissue samples but, well, he could always just go outside and get more? I think he never thought something like that possible. There might be other parts in the comic where they put an honest effort into researching a cure, but I don't know of any really. It also annoys me to heck that in the show when part of the group stops at a library, no one picks up useful books, but rather they literally start burning books to make fires. Like, come on guys! With no internet, libraries are the next best thing you have in terms of research! There could be books on survival in there, or first-aid, or on advanced biology or virology to help people figure out what the zombie virus is all about! And yet they literally burn books instead. Ridiculous.

  • Unfortunely no...

  • I heard it was something about France trying to find a cure but failing idk. I think the series is gonna end with either....

    A. Most of the group dying and the few survivors unsure what to do.
    B. The group walking into a safe haven and some monologue about life and how
    C. They find a way to go to a different continent to see society running or something like that

Not sure if I would like any of those but

  • Lee: Yes, but not sure when. One day.

Clem: I hope that soon :)

    OneDay

  • In season 4 (I belive) of the TV-series the governor's right hand man (the blond guy with the glasses) says that the walkers actually starve, the starvation process is just a lot longer for a walker. The question is; Do humans (and hopefully Clementine) survive long enough for the walkers to die?

  • I've read that in wiki too. They explain very good about how the walkers work, the process and behind the scenes and so on. I'd like tot think the apocalypse would end pretty like in a long time, maybe in 20 years? But there would still be few of them but not so it would be dangerous.

  • I think with Jenner it would be hard to go out and then demand Vi to open the door for him? Because I guess someone has to in someway be in there to check it'll be okay.
I agree with you, and I think there could be a cure but only for people who recently had got bitten not the walkers :/
I think there's also plenty of people trying to study but it's just hard to get the supplies, the materials you'd need to explore and also a safe place to do all so.

I think with the france thingy it was something that they lost the connection to other countries so they couldn't make some progress?? idk tho xd

  • The virus is in everyone (as far as we know) and everyone will become a zombie upon their death. However in the current state of the world, most zombies are rotted and eventually will die out due to starvation/rotting/shot in the head. I guess the reason why humans were fucked at the beginning of the apocalypse is because they didn't know how to deal with the zombie outbreak and adapt to everything/everyone stopping their mundane lives. Now that everyone has either adapted or died due to weakness/stupidity/dramatic plot, civilization can rebuild itself slowly, but surely. As I've said the virus is in everyone, but that can be manageable... in theory.

If anything people will have to worry about the single zombie, instead of the heard of flesh eaters. There is always the question, will humanity want to come back to being civilized. It seems it's much more fun to do with whatever you want with no rules while being intelligent, have guns, and followers with a similar mindset. In the end it's up to the mercy of the writers $$.

  • No, why not? Because everyone is infected and doesn't matter how you die, from old age, sickness or whatever as long the brain remains intact. The existent zombies could eventually rot away but everyone who dies comes back and would be impossible to keep track of a very large population again.

  • I'm also annoyed in this franchise how no scientists or doctors ever seem to be working on a cure.

Got to give The Last of Us some credit that at least it has a group trying to cure that brain fungus.

  • For things to escalate as fast as it did, there had to be massive national death toll. I'd assume a high % of scientists and students studying science were in large populated areas and died.

  • France has been said to almost have found a cure but failed in the end, so there's that. I have no sources, just what i've heard.
