It's not much, but would you (want to) play this game ?

TEASER JEU-VIDEO : Valentin ANDRE-TERRAMORSI "Odyssey" from Ecole Emile Cohl on Vimeo.

SO. Basically this is not a game, just a trailer for a potential game.
It was my graduation project this year, and now that it is done, all I wish is to know whether it actually does its trailer job or not, if people who like adventure games would like it to be an actual video game :) I was an illustration / animation / video games art student, so naturally my main goal was to come up with a singular art direction for my project, which is, by essence, incomplete.

I've regrouped more infos about the project HERE, but if you have questions regarding anything (plot, characters, gameplay...), please, ask me.
I figured you guys would make a good jury for this project, because you know what adventure games are about, and as TellTale games fans, you also have exacting standards.

So, by all means, please : let me know what you think of this !

It does a good job of building intrigue. Clearly some things have happened to the character that he doesn't remember, and he has to piece it all together using the clues he can find, possibly in something representing his memories? This basic concept has been used before, and it's a good one.

I like that there are multiple actions per object. You can look at it, take it, or whatever. That makes older adventurers happy.

Would there be dialog with others in the game, besides the narrator? No example was shown.

There are some menacing figures in the video, so we know something bad has happened. If this were a real game trailer, though, you'd need to show more than just menacing characters. There would have to be some action scenes, even if it's only a half-second glimpse, as the music suddenly gets more excited, with loud noises. Just enough to be a tease.

Hope this helps. Are you thinking of actually making this game, or are you looking for a job and want things like this to demonstrate to potential employers what you're capable of?

Good luck! And of course, if you do make the game, keep us informed. :)

  • Hell yeah, looks great!

  • I think you summed exactly the points I chose to develop, and the flaws I had to leave in the trailer :)

I totally agree that it does a Teaser job rather than a real Trailer : I actually worked on the video for two and a half months, from scratch (besides the concept arts I had already made, I had no assets whatsoever), so the technical and artistic parts prevailed in the end.

Right now the game, as a project, is on stand by ; working on it nearly 3 months, full time and alone made me kinda sick of it :) But I don't think it is dead. I'm just realistic about the amount of qualified people it would require to make a game like this one, starting with really good writers.

Thanks a lot for your honest and comlete reply WarpSpeed :)
