The Cover of Women's Runner Magazine

  • Why does there need to be a reaction? Nothing is controversial about it. It's just a women trying to get into shape. Big fucking whoop.

  • The cover is fantastic.

  • So let's see here... it's a magazine called "Women's Running", most likely to help (women) get in shape. I see a woman running.

If you need to buy a book to help you exercise, you're probably already not in shape. It'd be pretty freaking stupid if they used a model who's already in shape to encourage overweight women to exercise. The picture probably also indicates that the articles inside the magazine provide exercise regimens and techniques catering to overweight women.

If men want something to fap to, they should find a Playboy magazine where they edit the hell out of every picture and go on extreme diets to look good for the camera. In the real world where more matters than sexual appeal, they probably won't find what they desire.

  • People are so dumb these days that they flip the fuck out when a chubby woman is on a running magazine.

Seriously, what is wrong if someone wants to be physically fit?

Calm the fuck down, shut the fuck up and go away.

  • Exercise is good for everyone, whether you're normal weight, underweight, or 20 pounds overweight.

just go on a simple freaking diet, its not that hard. if i can do it so can you.

  • I think that for the most part, the people who are questioning the cover are doing so in regards to questioning the intent of putting an obese individual on the cover of a health magazine. Some people jumped to the conclusion that the cover is trying to promote that it's perfectly fine to be overweight, and honestly I don't really blame them considering the vague/misleading message on the bottom right corner of the magazine. As Jennifer said earlier though, it would be pretty weird for a magazine having to do with exercise promote the idea that there is no issue with being overweight.

  • Isn't the "3 reasons your weight doesn't matter" in regards to being able to exercise, even if you're overweight?

It makes complete sense to feature sports bras in a magazine dedicated to women running. Sports bras aren't for beauty or vanity. They are absolutely necessary for most women when they run, as without the support they provide, running can be quite painful.

That statement was most likely abbreviated for space. If you look at the full cover there is another blurb right under that one. Any more words in that statement and it would have went down one more line and would have messed with the line formatting of the magazine. Also, take a look at that Facebook picture's initial comments, as there is a woman who took it the way I did as well, as when she thanked them for the cover and printing that weight doesn't matter, she said that she was glad that she finally saw a runner who looked like her. I'm pretty positive that she's right in that that is the intention of the cover and that statement.

There's also one of sports bras, I doubt it. Also, if they did mean it then why didn't they put that?

  • If you get proof then i'll say i'm wrong but so far your entire claim is that it's abbreviated...Which is an assumption based on no evidence. That quote doesn't prove anything except she appreciated the cover and kind words about her weight.

Yeah, I'm going to go get the magazine in question and find out exactly what it says, so that we can have a discussion about the content rather than the magazine's appearance. Everyone here (myself included) is literally judging a book by its cover.

  • Sounds good, tell me when you got it.

  • After thinking it over, this thread would be better off locked given the intentions of the main post. The rest of you guys had mature discussion and didn't stoop to being shallow, which I appreciate, but the main post of this thread was obviously meant for bullying. :/
