The Walking Dead freezing up.

I'm having a problem with the game freezing up at one specific scene in episode 2. I had a similar problem in episode 1, but it solved itself by simply restarting the game and playing through it again.

The scene where I have this problem is in episode 2, right before Lee and Mark are about to go check on the fence at the dairy. Lee begins to speak, but suddenly the screen will freeze. I will sometimes hear the dialogue continue for several seconds afterwards, and the background noise continues, but everything else stops responding. Also, if it helps at all, afterwards when I close TWD the process will continue and I can not end it, and everything runs very slowly until I force a shutdown and restart my computer.

I have tried every fix suggested, and none of them have worked. I updated drivers, reinstalled, turned the graphics all the way down, ran it windowed, checked to see if it or steam were running in compatibility mode, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. As far as I can tell my computer meets the minimum requirements, so I'm just wondering if there's anything I've missed that could be the cause.

Edit: I forgot to mention I'm playing this on a PC with Windows 7.

    Please try verifying the game cache files.

    If that doesn't fix it, please follow the instructions to run the Support Tool and attach the resulting "support_data_pc.zip" to your next reply in this thread.

    I tried verifying the game cache files before. Here's it is.

    Edit: I just looked at the file I sent. There doesn't seem to actually be anything there. I followed what it said to do though, but I'll try it again.

    Edit: I tried it a few more times, but I'm still getting nothing.

    That's odd. Did you let the support tool run to the end, and press Enter after it asks you to?

    If that still doesn't work, please post your dxdiag info.

    Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
    Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

    Now click on the button that says "save all information".
    It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

    Open the file and press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents, and paste them in a reply by pressing CTRL-V.

    Not sure what causes it, but one thing you can try is installing the latest sound driver.

    Not sure what could else cause it.

    But just to be sure, please check the properties of the Steam.exe, your Steam icons, and the games .exe files, and disable any compatibility mode settings.
    Sometimes compatibility mode is checked, but is grayed out. Then you have to click on "Change settings for all users" at the bottom to disable the checkbox.
    Afterwards try if the game works.

    Same thing happened. It's so strange. Everything runs so smoothly up until that one specific part.

    Please check if the game crash creates an entry in the
    event viewer in the "Windows Logs/Application" section.
    If so, right click the entry, select "copy the details as text", and paste them in a new reply.

    I've actually checked that the last several times it crashed. It never seems to create an entry.

    I fear I have no good ideas left.
    One last thing you can try is creating a new windows user account, making a fresh installation of the game there, and testing if it also happens there.

    I've played through the first two chapters, and this far, I've encountered two freezes. On both occasions, the music continued but the game was completely unresponsive. My only option was to kill it with Ctrl+Alt+Del. But then I could continue fine after a restart (having to replay the last bit I'd done), so I'm just posting to let you know. Maybe it can help you track down the bug.

    The first time it happened was after pushing the button to throw the brick in episode one.
    The second time was after pushing the button to lift the fence in episode two.

    I'm playing on Windows 7 with a GeForce GT 630 with the latest drivers from Nvidia.

    Really great game, btw!

    i have a similar problem, my game freezes like ever 5 seconds. i have to click pause and then its fine, and i have to keep doing that cause it freezes. i tried fullscreen and windowed mode and still. my computer has all the requirements as well plz help
