I was on the fence initially, shes quiet and overall a good person and they did a good job of catching a personality that would feel natural with the fanbase they are aiming for. Plus in a game full of horrible people max is still one of the overall good ones.
However max quickly shows her more annoying characteristics. Max is the perfect example of an annoying hippy teenager, they hate everything and everyone mainstream and act like a judgmental prick the whole time. Shes barely left school and wants to become an photographer but max apparently feels she knows everything about everybody.Hard not to agree with the adults she speaks to, shes either bland or an uppity snob. She also has a ton of ingrained opinions which support her rude behavior, the main one being that all rich people are evil.
Worst part is that max is guilty of many of the things she apparently hates, shes a privileged kid attending a snooty school, therefore a hypocrite. The way she treats others is also horrific at times; as well as condescending to all she meets max treats kate as a sideline until the rooftop scene, appearing bored in the scene where kate begs her for help in the room; yet after this she just blasts anyone over the kate scenario and dont get me started on how she treats warren, constantly ignoring him, sidelining him and only talking to him when she wants something, especially that one time she left him being beaten by a complete psycho.
Hanging around with chloe doesnt help max either, she becomes an accessory to numerous crimes all in the name of greater good and does things that conflict her personality and results in many idiotic decisions. The ones particularly in episode 4 show max to honestly be really stupid, questioning proven dangerous drug dealer. Check. Checking out a barn with numerous warning signs? Check. Not informing the police and going after a killer yourself. Check. Her idiotic behavior constantly gets her into trouble, initially I held chloe accountable for all the problems but after a while max is not helping by continually going along
And in the end honestly one of the main issues is that max really is just a giant bore, seriously its often so draining playing as her even in happier moments as she just cant ever enjoy anything.
As a final note, really find her voice grating, one thing I cannot warm to at all

The one thing that did annoy me about her was the moment when the player chooses not to tell Kate to go to the police in the second episode: "If you do that, they won't believe you. You're on video grabbing at all those guys and they'll use that against you. Bad. [...] That's what you have to prove, not them."
Who talks to a depressed and vulnerable girl like that? Saying "If you do that, they won't believe you." and "That's what you have to prove, not them" is the last thing she needs to hear, not to mention how she says the word "Bad" as if she's speaking to a 5 year old. These lines also reeks of Max subtly victim blaming her for 'being caught on video grabbing at all those guys' since Max doesn't bother to mention that Kate was very likely under the influence at the time against her will.
Since I'm not a big fan of her voice acting, I'm also inclined to believe that her breathy and overly dramatic emphasis when she speaks does makes her sound condescending at times, unless it was unintentional.

I remember trying to get the trophy for meeting Michael Mamaril. I spent hours trying to get him to spawn, gave up and then the first time I went back to sanctuary after giving up he was there.

It is reaslistic when she doesn't know what to say to Kate, it is realistic when she thinks that she will get in trouble if she'll continue to dig the dirt in order to find the truth about her. She's not some superhero, she's just a girl.
