What are your thoughts on abortion?

edited August 2015 in General Chat

I personally think that there's always an exception. I think it's justifiable in the case of rape and incest as long as it's in the first five months. I think third trimester abortions are wrong since you had all that time and now decide to kill it, because lots of babies born in the prematurely do survive.

Please be civil to one another guys.

  • IMO it's very situation when it should be used or not. Also this thread can't go very well.

  • I think it's terrible, but really a personal matter between the mother and father.

  • Morally opposed, legally ambivalent. I think that killing another human being is almost always wrong. I generally don't like war, I don't like the death penalty and I don't like abortion.

Am I right? I don't know...it's just my personal opinion. That's why my moral code isn't the law of the land. Just because I think something is completely wrong, doesn't mean everyone else should be obligated to accept my point of view. Roe v. Wade stands, when it doesn't, then we can talk. I've voted for pro-choice politicians and pro-life politicians, it really isn't the most important thing in the world to me.

Something we definitely need is better sex-education and easier access to contraceptives. Fewer unplanned pregnancies = fewer abortions.

  • Can we not do this thread please?

  • Well said.

..Just going to casually drop this here and encourage anyone to read through it (at least the last few pages or so).

  • Would never EVER do it myself, and if someone close to me (say, my little sister or one of my cousins) came to me saying they were going to have one I would beg them not to and even go as far as to offer to raise the child as my own (I'm a lawyer with a stable life, though I'm single). No questions asked.

HOWEVER, I do not think that I have the right to legally forbid anyone else to do it. They are not me, our situations are different and I may never know what they have been through.
