Mafia III Thread

edited August 2015 in General Chat

Welcome Mobsters! since the new Mafia game has been announced with a Trailer and some gameplay, I made this thread so we can wait until Mafia 3 eventually comes out.

UPDATE: When an IGN reviewer talked to the 2K Czech CEO, the Reviewer asked if Joe will be somehow tied to Lincoln Clay's story or not, and the CEO responded with: "Ehh..well, Mafia 3 doesn't really focus on Vito and Joe anymore but Joe might be tied to the Story but we'll have to keep this a secret until the game comes out."

UPDATE: If you have a save file from Mafia II, then your save file will cross over to Mafia III. Other than that, there is more news. The game has been confirmed to have choices that will affect the story in many possible ways. For Example: You just took out a Mobster and kidnapped em', then Vito will tell you NOT to kill him. But the others will tell you to kill him.

NEWS: The Game will be released on April 16th of 2016.

  • About damn time. Very excited about this. Vito and Joe will always have a special place in my heart though.

  • I haven't read much about it yet, but that's good news!

  • Yeah, He's apparently one of your allies in the game. Joe is nowhere to be seen, however.

  • ''Sorry kid, Joe wasn't part of our deal.'' I'll remain hopeful that he'll show up surprisingly.

  • YES. It's about god damn time. :')

And yay Vito is one of our allies.

  • Joe is nowhere to be seen

    Isn't Joe dead?

  • Great that it's coming back, hope they make the world of higher quality. Mafias story was good, but the long drive sections were dull

  • Joe was in another car that took a different turn at the end. It was implied that he was being killed.

Joe is nowhere to be seen Isn't Joe dead?

  • His fate was never confirmed. Did he die? Did he go to a magical land of unicorns? Did he become the god he was always destined to be? We will never know.

Joe is nowhere to be seen Isn't Joe dead?

  • I thought Joe died as well.

I think 1968 is the perfect time for this game. It was a tumultuous period in US history, just as the first two:

    • Mafia (1930s prohibition)
    • Mafia 2 (1940s/50s post-war America).
  • Thanks for the screenshots, man!

  • Man, I wish this game could be released sooner. I loved the second one.

  • I'm really liking how the game looks so far, except for the main characters voice.

  • Why does the main character look like Ron Perlman? If Vito isn't in this game I'm throwing a fit

  • That was my impression, and I hope they stick with that. Mafia 2 showed how much Vito had to give up to go down that path. By the end of the game, he has no family (his mother being dead and his sister wanting him gone) , house or money. If Vito is indeed in Mafia 3, I hope it shows the toll it would have taken on him. For all the horrible things he did, Vito cared deeply about his family and friends, and watching them all die or leave would leave it's mark.

That being said, I'm still excited for the game. It's given me fresh hope that this generation of gaming won't be too bad.

  • Location? I'm thinking California, but there's also that song at the end of the trailer.

  • Looks cool, but I think the first one will still be my favourite.

So far I wasn't impressed by the physics of cars. Looks like Michael Bay was involved in this, because by the look of it, if you hit another car, it'll explode. (watch at 2:54)

    I hope they'll fix this.

  • Yeah, the cars exploding when you ram into them looks pretty odd. Hopefully, with one year left, they'll change it. Well, if it doesn't get delayed.

  • Well, to be fair. The car did just ram it and then made it flip upside down. I think that's what made it explode.

I'm pretty sure 2K wouldn't be that fucking dumb.

    Why exactly?

I dont quite get why people need the same characters

  • Did you even play mafia 2? The game ended with a cliffhanger it would be pretty stupid to end a game like that without having plans to progress the story they created in the second game.

  • Joe= Unknown (likely dead)

    Vito= Alive

  • While I am super excited for this game, I do think the A.I. is a bit retarded. They're completely oblivious to you. I hope they're only like that for show to showcase the cool executions and shit.

  • Feels like they're spoiling a lot in this game.

  • At first I was disappointed we wouldn't be playing as the actual Italian mafia, but having seen the recent trailer, I'm looking forward to it. Looks fucking great and the music in the game is perfect.
