What game of the past would you like to see come back to life?

First one for me would be Ultima Online. If you never played this game, its crazy. Imagine a world where you can own your own castle, horse, but also everything can be taken from you. I remember getting scammed for the first time in a video game, this was ultima online. a True game of Player vs Player. A match of minds, a match of skill. It began as one world where if you went outside the town limits you weren't safe from others. This game inspired other games such as World of Warcraft, to Eve Online.

Super smash brothers Melee. While it's still WELL alive right now, I'm really hoping for an HD remake sometime in the future. Melee is something the other smash games don't and can't replace, the game has so much depth for a fighting game and party game. I've fell in love so much with the game that I find myself just watching big tournament matches from the past and even taking large times of my day just to tune into any small or major tournament going on at the time. I also play it a ton, and have learned over the past year that there's so much competitive depth in the game and hidden features to the game that I didn't even know existed for the almost 15 years that I've owned the game. The problem right now is that as it grows and becomes more popular, in order for people to play the game at it's max potential, since it's old as fuck it requires CRT's (those old fat TV's) to be played without any game delay on the screen. And as CRT's become rarer it's going to be harder and harder for more people to pick up the game, an HD remake for newer consoles would be great and keep the game alive for even longer than it already has been kept alive.
Oh and for those who don't know what a REAL Melee match looks like, here watch.

Sorry for the little gush, Melee's a pretty big passion of mine :P

What was wrong with Brawl? I don't get why everyone in the FGC hates on it
I think Smash 4 is a great blend of Melee and Brawl. Sure, it's not as fast as Melee and it lacks some of the meta-gameplay tricks like lag-cancelling or wavedashing (not that I care as I never played nor watched competitive Melee), but I think the character balance in Smash 4 is solid - especially impressive given how large the roster is. Even ignoring all the new characters they've added since Melee, the character balancing changes Sakurai made for all the older characters are great and give life to previously neglected fighters like Yoshi or Bowser and they really even the playing field. Lots of characters in Smash 4 are now practical and fun to use, whereas in Melee, everybody jumped to Fox or Marth.
I think people in competitive play don't like how Sakurai deliberately simplified the game to make it more accessible and less competitive. He slowed down the pace and made the stages more frantic than they were in Melee to emphasize the party game aspect. He also made it to where characters have a random chance of tripping while they run, which can't be predicted or prevented in any way. I personally don't mind the casual playstyle of Brawl, but I can see why lots of other people would prefer the faster gameplay of Melee alongside it's less chaotic stage selection.
Would love to see Conker make a comeback and no not a project spark comeback....
I'd like to play Baldur's gate with Dragon age graphics. It's good to dream.
A remake of GTA III, SA or VC
Simpsons Hit and Run that was like the GTA for kids if your mom wouldnt let you have it till a certain age
There are 3 main things most people complain about
The game was intentionally dumbed down in a competitive sense by removing many core mechanics that made so many people love the fast paced nature of Melee, basically framedata was a lot slower, so many less ways to cancel moves, and they removed things like dash dancing and wave dashing which are tools that basically make up a huge percent of Melee play.
Balancing, the game has 2 characters that so many people mained because they were both pretty broken, one was Meta Knight probably the lesser of the lames, he was just too good and fast for a game that isn't really even that fast to begin with, and Ice Climbers the lamest of lames because they have an infinite where they can continuously grab the opponent till death % and kill them. So basically a grab was death.
Tripping, probably the biggest complaint but adding something so easily punishable that was completely random has no place in a competitive environment (keep in mind most people in the FGC are into the competitive side of fighting games which is why they hate on Brawl so much, also other smash games too, Melee not as much anymore though.)
So yeah. Though casually I think Brawl is great, competitively the game isn't really that fun IMO
Yeah that's true the character balancing is really good (though Luigi and Shiek are kind of overused right now, and before a certain patch Diddy was like the Meta Knight of Smash 4), though I dunno, I guess I never really disliked that people went Fox, Falco, Shiek, and Marth so much? I always love watching/playing those matches especially because those characters have the highest potential for some really cool gameplay. And I don't find that many people play those characters the same way, there's tons of different ways to play them.
There's a (partial) mod for that.

I'd love to see a Kotor remake with Mass Effect/Battlefront 3 graphics.
Id really love to see a Pirates of the Caribbean online return to life, it was an epic game.
Ghetto Blaster
b
Also River City Ransom
b
Front Mission.
Goldeneye 007. Probably wouldn't get that nostalgic feeling playing an updated graphical version of this but I had so much fun playing this game. Also Turtles in Time, Streets of Rage 2 & possibly Super ghouls & ghosts
Lol I like that game better than GTA... don't hurt me...
Lone Survivor in HD with a bigger plot would be epic.
The first Final Fantasy in HD.
All the games released before PlayStation 3 pretty much lol
INDIANA JONES AND THE EMPEROR'S TOMB!
It came out back when PS2 was in use.
It was a fantastic game, great storyline and great action, and with all the new graphic capabilities of game designers nowadays, it would look even better.
That game was really good, a bit underrated in my opinion.
Oh, thanks! I will definitely look at it.
The Legend of Dragoon. It was for the PS1 and was the first RPG I played. It was the first game to make me cry, and has inspired me like only one other game has to begin writing. It's really outdated as far as the cliche characters and the dialogue is cringe worthy now. It still has an awesome combat system and powers, and the story/lore is very good, it's great actually. It's actually held up very well for an old game, but sadly it never received a sequel and a remaster/HD remake will never happen. Though I still play it on my PS2 from time to time, I will always have fond memories of it.
I own that game. I got it on PS1, i even have a brady strategy guide for it. I really don't remember it very well to be honest though. OH btw if you want a new RPG to play try one out.
I just heard this came out, i really enjoyed it a lot when i played it on the DreamCast. A long time ago.
Check it out.

It's been 5 years since a Crash Bandicoot game, I'd totally want a reboot of the series.
I've pretty much written off Rare, but I'm definitely hoping that if Yookah-Laylee is a success, a Conker spiritual successor will be next. The Kickstarter was a huge success, so I figure that the game will do fine as long as it reviews decently.
mine would be timesplitters future perfect loved that game and crytec wont continue it or make a hd remake (I even emailed them no response) i wanna do the cat race thing on ps3/4
i stil sometimes play it on ps2 jus takes forever to unplug my ps3 to plug in ps2
Get yourself a team and get to work.
I think I might have seen that game before. I used to go to a video store to rent games, and they had a ton of PS2 stuff on their shelves. I never looked at them much, since I used to be an immature Xbox fanboy lol.
Considering my dissatisfaction with a lot of games today, I'm planning on getting a PS2 at some point this year or next year, since the system has a lot of games from an incredible lifespan.
Road Rash Jailbreak.
theres a second road rash? I only ever played the first one on ps1
Nice post George.
They might not be the greatest games but they are nostalgic.
