  • Still less toxic than TWD section.

  • That's debatable.

Still less toxic than TWD section.

  • Hmm, I'd say atm GoT is winning. But if TWD S2 ep5 had just came out, then bham! TWD would take the cake :D

Still less toxic than TWD section.

  • Ain't got shit on TWD section when 203 and 205 dropped.

  • I think 204 had a bigger reaction than 203.

  • Maybe, people were very mad about Carver, the railroading and 400 Days situation in episode three though.

  • I was just on a thread ans saw truly disgusting and despicable comments from a certain user (who shall remain anonymous) who got in a fight with one of the people criticizing the game and posted things like

Just enjoy what Telltale worked hard to offer, or just fuck off

I never said that you dumb mother fucker kill yourself.

I hate heat on these forums but insults like this come out it just makes a bad situation even worse.

  • For God's sake STOP.

  • Not right now it isn't.

Still less toxic than TWD section.

  • At least they'll be taking a 'compulsory vacation' soon. I've seen the mods come down hard on people for less.

  • I have to agree with dojo, when 204 came out, people went nuts in criticizing the game and arguments ensued way more than 203 which just made people weary and nervous for where the writing was going. I'll never forget how insane these forums were when 205 hit, it was so bad in how so many folks were turning against each other.

  • Oh my god, I just saw those comments. Did you get to see the shitstorm that went down the thread titled "I'm done with this cancerous forum" before it was shut down and the majority of the comments were deleted? That was just awful.

If so, flagging comments helps us more than anything else does. Going off of hearing people saying something happened, I don't know which thread (and which page of the thread) to look in, but flagging posts takes us directly to the post.

It was fun to lurk on there while it lasted :|.

  • I pretty much left TWD altogether after 205. I'd just witnessed the "Forum of the Dead lounge" fiasco a few weeks prior and decided that was quite enough shit-slinging for me.

  • I've heard whispers of that but I've never fully understand what happened at the Forum of the Dead. Can you explain Max?

  • Basically it was merged with the "Whatever's on Your Mind" thread (it was also closed multiple times over a few months whenever it got rowdy in there). Everything got mixed around people got angry at Jennifer for merging it and she almost left the forums and mod position because of all the verbal abuse she was taking. Lots of people were either banned or left including a few prominent members. Because of this people in the TWD section began to unfairly judge the Forum of the Dead as a whole and began attacking them despite it being only a few people causing the ruckus. People eventually calmed down and started apologizing, but the scars it left are still present.

It was one of the biggest shitshows on this forum.

I've heard whispers of that but I've never fully understand what happened at the Forum of the Dead. Can you explain Max?

  • I knew they were merged, but people got angry like that? I recall reading through people upset at that, but no angry.

Could you PM me some more details perhaps? My interest is piqued.

Prior to when Telltale relaunched the site in September 2013 (which in part changed the forums from a traditional message board to this current Reddit-styled format), the old Telltale forum crowd populated the "Whatever's On Your Mind" megathread. After the new site came out and Telltale released more games that were similar to Walking Dead: Season 1, some of the older forum members left since they were mostly fans of Telltale's old direction. Because of this, "Whatever's On Your Mind" became somewhat empty.

In the mean time, as time went on and new members from the Walking Dead: Season 2/Wolf Among Us era joined, there was a fan fic called "Forum of the Dead." Someone made an off topic chat for their fan fic thread called "Forum of the Dead Lounge." Prior to Summer 2014, we couldn't merge threads and that particular thread went under our radar, so we didn't think to do anything about the thread for a while. However, last Summer, we got a large back-end update which gave us mods new features like thread merging. Since "Whatever's On Your Mind" was still empty from the old Telltale crowd leaving in September 2013 and "Forum of the Dead Lounge" was a similar thread, the two threads were soon merged after. People from the Lounge thread were initially mad and made some hurtful comments, but eventually, things calmed down and people adapted to the two threads being combined.

How long did that take again? I remember the thread being closed for short periods of times even two months after the initial merge.

  • If I remember correctly it was just a week or so. The insanity petered out rather quick.

  • Didn't really go on there since I don't watch the show or play the game so I have no idea what people are talking about but RIP GOT SECTION

  • It was very odd. The anger was very intense but short-lived (in fact, I missed most of it), followed by a bunch of short bans and apologies from other people who were indirectly involved.

It was kind of like a riot. Things just flared up really quick with people feeding off each other and then it just stopped.
