What do you think about this idea regarding The Last Of Us?

I think it would be really cool if they were to make a game, that delves into the the 20yr time span between the beginning of the 1st game, and the time Elle came around.
I think there is a very interesting if they would explore that time period.

Comments

  • That would be an extremely long time span to cover. In my opinion, a book explaining that would be a lot cooler and probably more efficient than a game.

  • sigh.... alright here go. cracks neck and knuckles for no reason...

i want a sequel. i want, no i NEED joel and ellie. yes the ending is great but imo is not perfect. the world and the conflicts of the TLOU universe brings a lot of potential plot ideas that can be done. also depending on your interpretation of the ending can create certain plot ideas (sorry the word that i have in my mind i cant seem to place it) that can come to fruition.

now, im very persistent that if there is no sequel, they just need to really expand the universe by any kind of plataform. a show, maybe about the fireflies or like about survivors and seeing the world go to shit and how everything broke down. more comics maybe, or books. and games. IDK just expand this universe that IMO is one of the best and most unique.

  • TBH i don't really into this series. How am i supposed to take them seriously when they put a happy ending in a ZA story? Its like the time we saw Kenny again, after we all knew he was dead.

  • I would buy this and buy it again when the complete edition comes out.

  • ...how on earth was the end of The Last of us completely happy?

It ends with Joel telling a massive lie to the person we've grwon closest to throughout the game, and preventing a cure from being found. It's bittersweet at the very least.

  • I think they did enough exposition on those 20 years during the game. Bad shit happened. I think it's better left to the imagination.

  • Possibly Marlene and ellie might be interesting.....but I'd rather a game where we just play as ellie, maybe 19 or so.

  • The last of us was never about the actual apocalypse though was it, it was about the characters in that world and surviving it. In my opinion making a u-turn and then just making another generic zombie story would be boring af

  • well i think its a perfect ending for THAT game. i dont think that it is perfect in the fact it was the way to end it completely like that. it just has a ton of thing that can be possibly used for a story. i mean, kinda spoilers here, if Druckman does he he feels happens after the game Ellie pretty much gonna fend off by herself. and its not like joel will let just that happen. also that place isnt gonna be some safe haven, unpenetrable fortress. they have raiders, hunters and all that shit to deal with. also like in the suburbs chapter what if they have to deal with a herd?

also the fireflies are pretty much a treat. i mean we didnt exactly slaughter them all(if you even confront them). like theyre all of the sudden just gonna forget that not only someone slaughtered their leader, and friends but also how are they gonna forget that there is a "cure" out there? tons of possibilities, i would do like some fan story or detailed theory or whatever but im not such a strong writer. what im saying is i think that they can do far better. not just in gameplay, but int the story too. i dont think it could surpass in the emotional part(unless they kill one of the character, but wtf wants that?), but it can be very emotional too.

now i get why some people might not want one, and thats maybe for the strong possibility that one of the characters could die, Joel being the one thats the prime candidate, but they dont necessarily need to do that.

this is Naughty Dog we talking about. one of the best video game companies out there, im pretty sure they could pull it off.

i want, no i NEED joel and ellie. yes the ending is great but imo is not perfect. What would be your perfect ending?

  • What would fill the gap of the endless violence we got like in the first game. People would barely be assholes to justify killing and the outbreak would be in its infancy. As cool as it would be to see this whole thing from the beggining from a story telling persoective. It may not sell to the casuals that just want violence, explosions, and more violence.

  • Joel was a dipshit.

Not my opinion, just one of the messages the game was setting up.

  • Well that's a stupid message and contradicts the entire game. If humanity's not worth saving then Ellie's not worth saving, because she's a human.

I was so mad at that ending, it felt like such a waste of time. If i would of known the ending was going to end up like that, the journey was pointless. Everything we did, Tess dying for, what was it for?

All the people that died, when we could of just stayed home.

Not particularly, when Ellie wanted to cure the disease and Joel lied to her, knowing she would be angry at him for what he did.

I wanted Ellie to live, but I wanted humanity to rebuild more. By Ellie dying, thousands of girls like Ellie would live.

The frustration at the ending is the entire point, I think, and why it makes the ending sad. Everything we did was squandered by Joel's selfishness, and we have to live with that. It does a great job of being bittersweet imo.

  • Well i still hated the ending man. It was almost as disappointing as MA: 3, wait nm. Nothing is that disappointing.

  • I think that Naughty Dog should drop Ellie and Joel for good and concentrate on new characters.

  • I think the game was more so making a case in the idea of trying to create a cure would cause more problems and not lead much to a happy ending for humanity, since there is that idea that the procedure wasn't going to work and Ellie would have died for nothing and the fact that humanity at that point was a walking corpse.

  • It's what hooks em. Plus you gotta admit their was a lot of brutal violence between the sweet emotional moments. It's what gets people to stay intrested.

I'd disagree. I think the violence to a very backseat position. Sure it had combat, but that was far from the centerpiece of the game. There is a reason it has often been referred to as a playable movie (or other similar titles).
