Thoughts on animal euthanasia?
What are your thoughts? I wrote a really long paragraph originally but I'll just keep it short.

It's good if the animal is suffering.
I've heard before there are people who will put down in their Will that they want there pet to be euthanized so they can be buried with them.
That's kinda fucked up, but I can understand that. I wouldn't do it.
It's better than making the pet suffer through a long illness or miserable quality of life in their old age.
If the pet is suffering from a terminal illness and their qualify of life is not good, its the most humane thing you can do for them.
An easy and painless death is better for the animal than a painful, long-lasting one if the animal is suffering from a terminal illness. I think euthanasia is good in that aspect.
The only thing I have an issue with is that pet owners are choosing to put them down simply because they're unable to afford treatment. I know this because my parents had euthanized two of my cats after they were injured in ways that could have been treated, but we weren't able to afford the surgery or the medication. I find it hard to understand how healthcare is free for humans but not for animals. My pets would still be living a long, happy life if that wasn't the case.
Not sure where you're from, but my healthcare costs a fucking fortune.
I'm from Canada.
Vet visits (even for checkups) cost like $90. It's especially stupid when you just want some helpful advice or for the vet to give them a quick look, but the fee to enter the freaking building costs almost as much as the medicine they'll give you that you probably don't even need.
God bless Canada.
If the animal is suffering and is going to die either way, I think it's best to put it out of its misery.
Shoot em in da face.
Lucky you. I'm American and take a lot of medicine, so even with my health insurance shit gets expensive. If I ever lose it, I'm fucked, since I can't exactly get by with no endocrine function.
But yeah, I agree about vet bills. My cat got an abscess on her butt and it cost $300 to fix it, when all was said and done. Still, I think it's unfair to ask taxpayers to pay for pets they don't necessarily own.
Tax money already goes to a bunch of other things, like military services that send soldiers to die in places like Syria and Afghanistan. I don't see how it's unfair to provide for the lives of living beings, seeing as we are also providing for deaths.
We had a dog that got incurable cancer. After keeping him alive for a while, eventually he got so weak that they really wasn't any other option. We let him sit on a blanket in our house, we all sat around the vet came in, gave him a shot, and he just went out calmly. It was really sad, and I know we're talking about a dog, but in those kinds of cases I'd say I support the option of euthanasia for people too. It's called 'death with dignity' for a reason.
I wonder what would I feel when my dogs start dying out.
Well, one of my puppies passed away few days ago for some infection in one of the vital organs. The pup likes to chew on wood, metal and dog shit so probably that's what caused it die.
Old Yeller that pet.
