Tie between DOTT and Fandango, then Full Throttle & The Dig
  • edited November 2009
My biggest gripe with Maniac Mansion and Zak Mckracken were the scumm set ups. I always found it sorta akward to play compared to the other games seeing how you couldn't hold long conversations with people. I think I beat Maniac Mansion once and to this day I still haven't beat Zak Mckracken. Same holds true for Grim Fandango. I got half through the game and never bother to finish it. I'm not a big fan of the GRIME system either.

I loved DOTT and Sam and Max. So for non-Monkey Island games those would be my favorites.

DOTT, hands down. I used to think GF is good when it first came out, but i played it again a year ago, and I wasn't too impressed. The 2nd chapter especially felt like it dragged down the entire story with its length. I mean you can take that chapter and make it as a game of it's own and it'll still seem too long. :\

As much as Grim was an amazing game, I think the story ended there, and re-hashing the world with a bunch of new characters would just seem empty.

Besides, TT have already done a "Bone" game ;)

I'm a little surprised that Maniac Mansion and DoTT are on the poll as separate items, since they're both part of the same series and world, and CRYING out for a third :)

The poll isn't what series do you you want TTG to make a new game from!!!

It's what is your fav game from that list.

Lol, true. But everyone knows that's what they're REALLY asking... ;)

Everyone assumes that, doesn't mean it's correct.

The fact that the MM games aren't together suggests otherwise.

If their only intent is to find out what your favorite LucasArts game is, then they are completely ignorant to the consequences of posting this type of poll after making a game like Tales of Monkey Island. I highly doubt it's just because they're curious about your taste in LucasArts classics.

when I was 2 LeChuck's Revenge was released (actually it might well be my earliest memory...This could explain a few things) but also at the time my dad had Fate of Atlantis. So I would have to say those two. LeChick's revenge slightly more.

Um, sorry to disappoint you. I am an MI fan, but I have never played GF.

Snap. I blame it on growing up poor with an ancient computer that failed to meet minimum system requirements. And... well, sheer laziness/ignorance since then. :p

My favorite in the poll was The Dig.

Snap again! The Dig is a beautiful, beautiful game. I always wondered if Spielberg would ever make it into a movie.

I have to be honest and say that I think I was a little too young for grim when it first came out, I never really got into it. That and the control scheme bothered me.

I'll have to try it again sometime soon.

And I never really got into the dig either. Probably just too young for that one too.

Too bad Loom isn't on the list... I would've voted that as that's the game I would most like to see sequels for.

In any case.. I voted Zak McKracken :D I love all the games, I can't really pick one favourite... but I suspected poor Zak had gotten very few votes... and I was right.

That was his original intent; the technology just didn't exist at the time. However, considering upcoming stuff like Cameron's Avatar, now would certainly be a good time (though the comparisons to Armageddon are going to happen and annoy me severely).

As to my personal vote, I'm afraid I have to abstain. There are just too many choices, both available and unavailable.

Actually, I think that the original intent was to make it as an episode of Amazing Stories. At the time, the technology may or may not have existed, but they certainly didn't have the budget to do it on a TV series.
Some ideas were used on Deep Impact (produced by Spielberg) years later.

Or suggests that, like me, they see a HUGE difference in style and execution between the first and second games in the Maniac Mansion series. If there was a significant enough proportion of people who more loved Maniac Mansion, aspects of the first game may be worth considering in a continuation of the franchise.

I don't think that LucasArts would give out Indiana Jones, but I could be wrong. And maybe the absence of Loom means that they are ALREADY WORKING ON SEQUELS?!

...or that it didn't sell any copies at all when it went up on Steam and they refuse to have anything more to do with it.

I don't think they needed a poll to know that isn't the case.

I chose Full Throttle, but on reflection it wasn't so much the gameplay that I liked the most as the story and the characters. Something Tim Schafer would have to be involved it. As yet we don't know for sure if the poll is to see which next LA IP TTG wants to snag and make an episodic series out of, but if it is Full Throttle wouldn't be the best choice for those reasons. Especially since the voice of Ben is now dead.

So Full Throttle would probably be my favourite game, but not the game with my favourite gameplay and not the game I'd pick for TTG to do something with.

I picked The Dig. It's such a beautiful game. Not sure if I'd really want a sequel, though, since it wraps up everything nicely in the end. Unless they
send Boston & company to another planet or something.

I probably would have voted for Grim Fandango but I haven't finished it yet since my computer refuses to run it properly. I wish they would hurry up and put it on Steam. :(
