  • I've been saying that from the beginning.

Telltale won this round for sure. Man the finale was such a disappointment compared to just finishing Tales from the Borderlands which was phenomenal. Dontnod could learn a thing or two from Telltale

  • And you're a troll

Hawt Dog man is an asshole

  • Roman

Sure he pulls all the ladies

  • You mean warren....yep, it didn't happen.

  • Well failing to save anyone else resulted in their death so I assume so

Did Alyssa just die from the fall? Or was she stuck down there until the storm killed her?

  • That moment was hilarious, My main disappointment was the fact Victoria wasnt in the episode bar that one flashback. Nathan and Taylor wernt there at all. I wanted some final fights with them

I can't express how satisfied I was that Alyssa's stupidity was fully realized in the finale.

  • I'm quite surprised how split the choice is. I think its incredibly selfish to choose to save chloe over a whole town, even if she was slightly more likable in the end for realising what max was blind to and admitting her flaws.. Still max is a very selfish character so I guess it makes sense for her to make that choice.

  • Yep you've spoiled the whole game, Shouldnt have gone on youtube

  • Can you explain your thought process there?

I mean i respect your decision but you save Chloe and therefore

    1.Continue to mess with time
    2. An entire town dies including chloes parents, kate, warren and the rest of max's friends
    3. Chloe wants you to sacrifice her

I mean I didnt particularly like chloe though respected her for the final scene but even if I liked her I dont see how I could cause all of that just for chloe and max to be together. It just seems to destroy both characters growth and label max as eternally selfish and also pretty immature.

  • I agree so much. The game's basic premise has been told a hundred times over, it's disappointing that Dontnod didn't come up with an original ending to this story. It just makes everything you did for nothing, especially if you didn't save Chloe. The entire episode I just felt as if I was playing though filler story just to get to the end, worse part is most of that filler gameplay didn't make a lick of sense. TT definitely do not have a competitor, I thought they did playing through ep 1-4 of LIS but ep. 5 ruined it. TftBL finale was just so much more emotional and rewarding.

  • I thought it was pretty terrifying.

But two things I didn't liked about it, it is the darkness. It was so dark that I had to close my light in order to see where I was going. And secondly, it did dragged on for too long.

I thought the finale episode- especially the endings- was pretty meh. The nightmare sequence was cool though

  • Max was pretty sad when they drove through the city, but Chloe comforted her and that's when she smiled.

I think it may be too far-fetched, but there are numerous events where Chloe wants to destroy Arcadia Bay for all the pain it brought to her. Sure, Max has killed a whole town to save her best friend, but throughout the game, Chloe seemed to be more connected to Rachel and Max. This is proven by how she acts with disrespect during Episode 2.

  • They kiss if you go pro-Chloe on you playthrough. (if Chloe change her phone's picture from Rachel to Max)

  • Huh, some people were displeased with the episode. Wow, for once I'M the one saying it was a pretty good episode. The Dark Room was better, and the Chloe ending is one of the worst endings I've ever seen, but it was still a good episode, especially the nightmare and when Max talks with Max in the diner, that scene was really good. Overall, the episode gets an 8/10, the series, about a 5-6/10.

I finsihed playing the episode yesterday and I did enjoy it. In the end I chose to save Chloe but there are many things I don't understand. Like why the people that live in Arcadia Bay didn't go to another city until the storm is over ? Max couldn've told everyone about the existence of a bunker in the town so everyone could have sought refuge there until the storm is over. Yes it is a creepy place where horrible things happened but now Jefferson is no longer free and I think most people would prefer going there rather than dying in a storm. If Chloe and Max survived the storm then why couldn't the others too ? I find it hard to believe that not a single person has managed to survive apart from these two no matter how bad the storm was.

Saving Chloe may seen selfish but it is an option that still makes sense. I know that she is a girl Max hadn't seen in a long time and they get reunited for a week and suddenly Max is ready to sacrifice an entire city to save her. But I think it is way more complicated than that. The way I see it, if you choose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay, Max tears the photo as if to say that she will no longer use her powers to escape reality, she wants to face the consequences of all she did. Although it might not be the best choice I still find this ending a lot more powerful than the other one.

I liked the episode but I expected a better ending and an actual explanation of how Max got her powers in the first place. It just feels like the devs didn't know it themselves so they aovoided it the best they could. I also wish there at least two more endings where more people would survive if you chose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay. I wish they had shown us what happened to all the people Max knew like Warren and Victoria.

Maybe to some it feels like a cop out that all choices don't end up mattering if you rewind? Some may want their choices to have meaning by not rewinding, they want Max and Chloe to both know what they went through that week and to live with the repercussions of it.

PS: It is also left ambiguous on who lived and died in the storm.. maybe Joyce survived? otherwise I don't think Chloe would be smiling.

This is about the endings of the game.

I don't know, the choices in Episode 5 lacked that emotional connection. It's hard to feel for "town people" you don't get to see. Heck, you don't even get to interact that much with most of the characters to learn them better.

Considering almost all character development went to Max's "inner circle" of friends, Chloe was only one I could feel for really. Also even though the developers say that everyone died in that town expect Max and Chloe, the game didn't show to make 100% sure that somehow nobody found shelter?

Also I "saved" those guys earlier in the episode, all of them. Wasn't that supposed to be the same timeline anyway? How exactly their "saving" didn't happen? Oh yes I know why, somehow Max's rewind power bulldozes along the way.

I feel that the season was too short due budget constraints or something. They did mention something about the budget recently and how they wanted to do more but they had to prioritize not to overspent. If I remember right one of the "casualties" was a more fleshed out "Sacrifice Arcadia" ending.

Also unless the tornado mysteriously popped-up in the next door, the town people are truly apathetic people by not leaving their town at that point. Yet they waited until they were trapped which makes me guess that storm mysteriously appeared without a warning.

  • They still have this habit of generalizing their viewers.

I didn't feel bad, yet video tells me I did?

I know it's just how English language works, it's hard to say precisely what you mean but still.

It has even more to do with the fact that they like to do those monologues with style of talking directly to the viewers. Then get offended when comment section disagrees and write their responses in all caps.

I have kind of love hate relationship with Geek Remix. I'm one of their avid viewers after all.

So, I'll make this review as best as I can since I still feel like my stomach hit the bottom of the trashcan from last night. Here goes...

This has been... an okay finale to the game Life is Strange. Personally, I felt this was weakest of the series, which is not good. Now, I did like it at moments, but after long consideration it made me not like it partly for a few factors.

I'll get my gripes out of the way. >:/

I didn't like the idea of why of the storm and weird shit was caused by the fact that it's all because one person just HAD to die. Now this isn't me being biased because oh, "You liked Chloe that's why you're pissed", no it's not that. Take away my love for the character and I still wouldn't find it logical. It's the fact that so called destiny didn't go bonkers over William and Kate's fate's being altered, it didn't try to constantly try to kill them and had a freaking tornado drop a week after either of them were originally supposed to die, but when Chloe survives it does vice versa. That's illogical bullshit (btw fuck butterflies, man). Also it made me ask myself why the heck was the rewind power was given her to in the first place if bad shit happens from it, and where did it come from, what was its real purpose? If anything it's more like something given to Max just to mentally screw with her. Another thing is both endings basically rendered nearly all of my choices meaningless except for a few tidbits, and that kinda annoyed me because Dontnod marketed their game saying choices actually mattered in this game and said this would revolutionize choice and consequence games when they basically Mass Effect 3d and took the easy way out. It was a cop out. I feel they could've done so much more with the endings, and the cause of the storm (Save Chloe ending had budget cuts unfortunately, so I can understand that bit.) Just, when you say you want things go in full circle, you expect it to be a hyperbole. My final gripe, is the fact they left so much of the plot that they included to the game and left nearly all of it unanswered (someone posted lots of my exact thoughts early on), and they even said the story is done, but no it's really not, they left it incomplete and that made it feel rushed. Dontnod you could've made a fantastic end, but you kinda screwed up in the end. It was like letting a cake rise as it baked in the oven, till some a-hole stomped his foot nearby and flattened the cake a bit. Ehh...

Now let's talk about what I liked! :D

I absolutely loved the dynamic of Max's character, you really got into the psyche of Max, looking back at everything she went through, and to be judged, ironically, by herself. And I absolutely loved the dark room sequences and the whole thing about Jefferson who turned out to be a Grade A creep. I loved the little fight between David and Mark, it was a little comical but intense as well. And to sit on a chair as Max makes me feel like she's watching a movie rooting for the good guy. lol David's character developed a lot this episode despite his short appearance, he finally showed what he was all about and it made me respect him. Going from hating the guy at the start to liking him in the end, is impressive writing. I could say the same thing about Victoria, she rounded out that in the end, she was just scared and needed a hand in life. That also goes for Nathan too, despite the bad things he's done that made me hate him, it did make me feel sorry for him when he messaged Max. Not only that but Chloe made one last great appeal to me is her biggest redemption for her selfish behaviour, and that she's willing to sacrifice herself for the entire town to survive. Despite my gripes with the end, I still managed to cry during both endings since there's that emotional connection I have with Chloe and other people in the Bay (I chose to sacrifice Chloe despite how much loved her, I wouldn't have done it but she told me to, and there was no guarantee destiny wouldn't try to kill her the next day. I felt awful in the end). I also loved the nightmare sequence (going through that made me think of myself and my actions for the past 2 years), as it was very Silent Hill-ish, along with the San Francisco sequence (Red Head Chloe is there too lol) and going through Arcadia Bay in its destruction (and in the diner, sitting with Pompidou was adorable and sad), and my last moments with Chloe (despite how much it tore me apart inside). Also, bravo to all Pricefielders and Grahamfielders in succeeding in getting their ships canon (I only got to hug Chloe and Max only hugged Warren too).

As a whole, I think I'll give the episode a 6/10. Bravo on the journey to Dontnod but not so much on the conclusion. For me it's not always just about the journey, it's about the journey and the destination. But with all that being said, I still enjoyed a majority of this emotional rollercoaster, thank you Dontnod for putting so much effort to this game and giving me a beautiful experience for this year. My rating for the series is 8.5/10 as a whole.

Goodbye Chloe, you deserved better for so much suffering. And goodbye Life Is Strange, it's been a hella ride.

  • So.. taking into consideration that the giant tornado was caused by the constant fluctuations of the time/space caused by Max powers. You basically "murdered" an entire town for a person who should no longer exist.

It may seem that you saved her, but unfortunately it is only a matter of time ( short time by the way) until Chloe dies again and every time you try to prevent this situation will only cause even greater damage on all around you. her death is inevitable. :(

I thought EP5 was good. A 9/10. Mostly because Jefferson was brought to justice and the nightmare sequence was awesome. The reason it's not a 10/10 is because of the endings. They were abrupt and left unanswered questions. Like, how did Max really get her powers? How was Rachel able to come back as a butterfly and deer? What happened to Max's other friends? What's next for Max(and Chloe)?

But overall as a game, Life Is Strange deserves a 10/10. It's story was unique, artistic, mostly well written, and filled with a lot of emotion. Choices noticeably affected the game too. And it's soundtrack was perfect. My favorite parts of the game were the calm moments when Max would reflect on things. DONTNOD truly accomplished something great with Life Is Strange. And as a mere Telltale Games fan, I thank them and wish them more future success.

  • I thought it was just about the right length, though i could have done without the stealth sequence.

People say the nightmare scene is too long since they can't figure it out on first try.

  • No more Max. Also, most petitions like this are pointless.

  • That Max that likes to reside in other reality, is definitely bat shit insane.

Even if she makes some good points, your Max gets "pulled away" before the shit was about to go down.

I guess it will be another mystery in storyline that will not get explained officially. However it looks like she made her own reality her plaything and froze people to pose for her or something.

  • Almost the entire episode felt like one last strong-armed attempt to get the people who didn't like Chloe to warm up to her so the final decision would have more impact. It was extremely tedious. I disagree with everything being for nothing because you still had the experience and enjoyed it until the end. The ending was very predictable and I wish they had done something more than "save the world, lose the girl" but I can't say I was expecting anything more.

  • Well nobody expected the storm if Max did try to warn them it would look like she is crazy or something. I didn't pick the save Chloe ending but I assume if you do then some of the Town does get evacuated its just that you destroy it and some people will probably die. Saving Chole seemed kinda selfish and I never liked her that much anyways, I was totally with the other Max in that dream scene :)

  • People keep saying that the "sacrificing Arcadia Bay" ending is selfish/stupid. During this episode I felt like the game strongly implied that we shouldn't rely on Max's power to fix the things we messed up. Max realized that her power was hurting more than it was helping, especially when she uses her focus power, that's why she kept saying that she wouldn't do it again. I decided to let Max accept her mistakes and face the obstacle before her. This was harder to choose, and didn't wipe the moments and choices we made during THIS WHOLE SEASON.

Disclaimer: I understand that Max would want to have memento of Chloe.

Not sure if anyone else noticed but in one of the endings, Max keeps Chloe's jewelry. At least that spike bracelet unless she bought her own which is unlikely.

Would be kind of a dick more to pillage all her possessions that now should belong to her family.

  • Yes, someone else gets it too. I was kind of like, "Stop messing with timeline and stuff."

Chloe wasn't really in rational mindset when she told basically to risk further violation of the timeline.

^To remember her moments with Chloe maybe? Joyce would probably allow that.

*sorry I choose "Add comment" instead of "reply".

  • Of course in a gaming perspective it wasn't for nothing, the overall game is fun and enjoyable no doubt about it. But taking the plot into account everything was pointless, we ended back at square one; letting Chloe get shot, the end. It beckons the question: why did Max get the power in the first place if nothing actually changes? In retrospect everything Max did was a huge waste of time. The only saving grace is the fact the player can choose to save Chloe instead, showing Max's efforts to save her best friend were not in vain. But that ending was so lack luster.
