INSANE THEORY. AJ DIED DURING EPISODE 5?
i know it probably sounds crackpot, but I liked it when i thought of it. What if AJ died during the shoot out with the Russians and everyone was humouring Kenny and Clem because their mental health was about to crack. Clem's personality was dissociative, unemotional, and just distant from things, while Kenny was looking for whatever he could find to give him purpose. If they realised AJ was dead then neither of them would have reason to live, especially as Clem inadvertently caused the shootout which killed him.
This is why AJ was so quiet and didn't need to be fed and This is why it always fell to Clem to look after the baby. No one wanted to hold a dead baby. This is why Bonnie and Mike saw no problem with sentencing a baby to die. This is why Jane was so worried about Clem getting attached to the kid and why she refused to hold it until Clem forced her. Jane, not wanting to crush Clem's belief, pretends that the baby pukes on her, and Clem, being delusional, sees the puke go on Jane.
At the end, Jane tries to show Clem and Kenny that the baby isn't alive, but disguises it as she's trying to show Clem what Kenny is really like. Of course, it all goes wrong, and shit hits the fan. When Kenny is dead, Clem suddenly hears the baby crying. It's here where Jane realises that Clem has gone mad and opts to stay with her, allowing her to keep the baby.

Yeah... insane theory is right amigo.
The show has proven that they don't have the stones to kill a baby and I highly doubt TellTale has the stones either. And even if they did, they wouldn't do it in such a convoluted and bizarre way.
Good thing is game based on comics.
I'm sorry if i sound rude, but that sounds fucking stupid...
I know right
Thats fucking stupid Ben
Not like they're going to do it regardless if it's based off of the comic or not. The comics go to some real extremes that most people just aren't ready for, video games today just scratch the surface of terrible things that can happen to children and I don't think TellTale is going to dip their hand into that bucket.
plot shield keeps aj alive through the cold and hunger.
WOW
Well in S1 we can kill Duck and the walker kid(we even have different choices how to kill him). But game doesn't need to show how AJ dies, his death doesn't need to be graphic. I think writers can kill AJ, if they want it.
I like this theory. It's dark as hell, and actually kind of plausible.
That's just it though and my point, with Duck he's shot off-screen and the zombie kid is pointless since he's a zombie, there's no feeling attached to it, we simply won't see something as graphic as readers of the comics have seen; baby shot, kid who gets an eye blown-out from a gun but lives, kids getting beheaded. I'm not saying there needs to be graphic kills of kids or hoping AJ will die, just pointing out how the OP's theory is false and why it wouldn't happen.
I'm sure they could kill AJ now, when/if there is a 3rd season since he'd be a couple years older but if they did it'd be something tame I bet, my point there is that we're not going to see something as brutal as that in a game right now.
There's no evidence for this theory. So no.
It's plausible that Clem would be carrying a dead kid with her for days?
more plausible than Kenny surviving a herd of Walkers.
No, neither are actually.
That theory is really fucked up dude... Jesus... I love it though. I think that'd be an awesome idea.
I'd love to refer you to 5 games that completely say otherwise. If you'd want me to.
Yup. And it's plausible that she could have hallucinated AJ being okay. A walker baby poses no threat to anybody, as it has no teeth to bite and it has no strength to attack. A newborn's fingernails too aren't likely to break the skin of an adult or even a child. Newborns can't smile a day after they're born (they have to learn how to smile from others) and so Clem probably hallucinated that too, when AJ smiled in the game. Hell, given how little AJ made sense in the game, in how little he cried and how he didn't even need to eat anything or need any diapers, this theory actually makes a ton more sense than the game canon does.
XD That's why it's called a "theory" lol.
Go for it, I'm all ears.
The baby cried at the end of the Episode 5 and the person you picked to live would hear it with you so no, the baby is alive.
Works on a metaphorical level (Kenny and Clem being the only ones dumb enough to not see that the baby has no chance) but not a literal one. Neither were as far gone to start hallucinating.
Okay, so the whole hallucination thing stems from Clem's mental state as OP has stated before right? While she has gone through several traumatic events, don't you think it would be more likely that she would be seeing/hearing things that she's familiar with, like Lee? Why would she be hallucinating over some baby that she barely knows and hasn't grown strong feelings for? Throughout the whole season, Clem thinks back to Lee and even has a dream/memory about him, if anything or anyone would bring her comfort, it'd be him. But that's even if you believe her mind has become so fragile which I don't believe it has and there's no evidence to it. If she was hearing voices/things, seeing things, or occasionally losing consciousness I might be able to bite, but Clem appears to have it together.
And as far as AJ crying/smiling, that's simply TellTale taking some liberties there. For most people, seeing a baby smile makes them happy and that was to make the player grow more attached. The lack of crying is the same, babies cry a lot, TellTale just didn't want to be annoying the players with the amount of crying that would normally be happening since it can be loud, and at times non-stop. And you can add the diapers onto the list of things TellTale either didn't want to bog down players with or naturally thought it was a bad idea to do, while it may have made things feel more genuine, this is a video game about zombies not nanny-simulator.
Silent Hill: Homecoming, Sad Satan, Slender: The Arrival, Heavy Rain (Although Heavy Rain is more or less a kinda sorta) and Call of Duty. (I mean, just look at the poor children who play that game. They've become disgusting creatures.)
Sad Satan was a hoax from the deep webthough. At least...I think it was.
You're right about Homecoming, although I don't think we ever see the kid's deaths, just their nightmare machinations I think, (I've only seen an LP of it). Never heard of Sad Satan, I'll probably take a look and I thought the kids just went missing in Slender? And you're right about Heavy Rain too, although the kids just drown, nothing too violent which is more of what I meant.
Rofl, you are my new favorite person on the forums for that COD bit, too true! XD
Kinda. The story is that every kid in town is getting sacrificed by the town cult to the old gods of Silent Hill. And some fucked up shit happens to each kid.
It's a disturbing game made by an insane psychopath, and it uses audio clips of molestation, murder, and satanic worship ceremonies. It's on the... eh hem... Deep web.
Yes, but the story of Slender: The Arrival takes it a bit too far with what happens to the kids. Murder, Slavery, etc.
True.
Well thank you.
There were two versions, the fake version with artificial sounds created by a sane person. And the real version on the Deep Web created by one fucked up bastard.
Kind of implausible , don't you think , considering Jane. She doesn't seem like the type to sugarcoat that kind of thing happening.
"But the baby was dead all along!!" Hahaha. Sorry but this sounds like a twist fit for The Twilight Zone, not The Walking Dead.
Think on how Mike was holding the baby as he was crossing the ice. Was he pretending then to, as you say, humor Kenny and Clem?
Plus, the other characters only seem to respond to Kenny's 'irrational' behaviour, whereas they talked about this at length with Clem and treated her normally, for the most part.
Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan.
Oh ;; I think the one someordinarygamers played was the real version but i wasn't sure if it was real.
the problem with this theory is, if Clem was imagining the baby crying in the car after the fight, how did she know exactly where to run to to find him?
well, if we're being technical, the word theory means it's backed up by a whole bunch of evidence and is generally known as a law, but not quite there. This is more of a hypothesis.
Oh for goodness' sake. I knew someone would go and look up the definition of "theory." I even considered saying "hypothesis" instead myself. But lighten up, you guys. Don't take things so seriously.
I happen to like the idea of the OP, but I don't think that's what really happened, jeez. There's no way TT will start season 3 and say, "Surprise! AJ was dead all along!" with Clem and a zombie-version of AJ. I just thought the OP's idea was an interesting one, is all.
lol look it up? Or you can just have at least an elementary school education.
Plus this feels more like a crummy fan-fic.
No it's fine it was more of a joke. We all knew what you meant. :P
She actually picked up on the smell of the rotting body of the baby, but in her delusional state, her mind covered up the truth by compensating with auditory sensation rather than olfactory sensation, fooling her into thinking she heard the cries of the baby
Bam, now this theory is even more dark and morbid
It's a fun idea for AJ haters to toss around in their head, but even they have to agree there's absolutely no way this could be true.
