Don't remember if I mentioned this but I enjoyed Ex-Machina and Kingsmen. I didn't like Age of Ultron as much as those two. I think after the Iron Man movies, it was a bad move to do Ultron but it did setup a lil' more animosity with Stark and Cap for Civil War.

I didn't hate Avengers 2, but it did not feel as fun to me as the first one or Guardians. Too much time with Hawkeye's family, love interest between BW/Hulk/some setups for future movies took away from the movie for me.
I sadly haven't seen Ex-Machina yet. Kingsman is possibly my favorite one of the year because it was so surprisingly good.
Thinking back at it, Age of Ultron was alright. It's not the best, but it's still fun to watch.
I thought it was nice to finally give Hawkeye a bit more backstory, so I didn't mind his family. I do agree with the setups because there was too many of them and it all felt irrelevant. For example, I didn't like Thor's.

FUCK, sometimes with upcoming movies I'm planning on seeing I'll go to the Wikipedia page but stay at the top to get me excited or something but I just did that and apparently there was a MAJOR spoiler at the top about something I'm assuming was gonna be twist...well damn lol
Hmmm, the movie "I Saw the Light" starring Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen which is about the life of singer Hank Williams (which I was d… moreebating if I should see it or not) has been moved to 2016...From screenings that already happened, it has pretty negative reviews and the plot doesn't interest me but I'm a fan of Hiddleston and Olsen so that was the main reason I was interested idk if anyone else was interested but just postin it.

I don't understand. By this late in the year I would've expected this thread to have turned into "STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS". Or is it just me that's excited?
It has a 6.6 on IMDb and 35% on Rotten Tomatoes from early critic reviews and it hasn't even been released to the public yet in which movies usually go down during their public screen run so expect it to get worse. I heard he studio moved it to next year so Tom Hiddelston could be nominated for an Oscar because they don't think he would make it for this season's Oscars, Again- I wasn't expecting much from the movie but I have high hopes for Hiddleston and Olsens performances, who knows? It might be decent.
At first I wasn't excited and thought it would suck but after the 2nd trailer a while ago, I've been excited but my sights are on Bond for right now (but I accidentally partially spoiled myself lol)

Damn it! I'm reading early reviews for Spectre and a lot of them say the movie has more style than substance. I've noticed a pattern with the Craig Bond movies.
Casino Royale started off great, things began teetering off with Quantum of Solace, it picked up greatly with Skyfall, and now it's coming back down again with Spectre.
That's what I've been afraid of, and from what I've heard- it says "fuck continuity" and I learned a pretty disappointing spoiler already...Meh, it will be way better than Quantum at least. Still looking forward to it though.

Let's just hope it's still a serviceable movie.
Yea, it's not looking good for Spectre. It has a god damn 66%!
I hear that everything in the movie is great in terms of cinematography, action sequences, and editing. However, many say the weakest point of the film is its script, and it's pretty damn bad from what I heard on Stuckmann's review.

The action's gonna be great and since I'm a guy who fan-boys over the Expendables movies- I'll love the action sequences but the script so far seems to show complete lack of planning- like seriously!?
(Minor Spoilers about how Spectre connects to the previous movies):That organization Quantum was working for Spectre the whole time!? They could have written that out better ... and Silva from Skyfall was working for Spectre!? Not really... They could have foreshadowed and built up SPECTRE but it seems like this was more of a last minute script idea and it's clear that they went't planning on it from the start or anything...
If this is Craig's last Bond then it's fucking pointless to me unless if this is the last time we ever see SPECTRE because: WHY THE FUCK would you re-introduce the organization just to bring it down in ONE movie when it's the movie RIGHT BEFORE the 25th!? For me, SPECTRE should be a 2-Parter with Waltz getting away to set up for the 25th, but instead it sounds like the organization is introduced, given credit for shit that happened in the earlier movies when they were clearly not connected, plans on something bad, and Bond goes in and kills everyone... I hope I'm wrong and I've heard Spectre has a "weird" ending but critics keep saying it's a "goodbye" for Craig so idk what to think....I am venting way more than I would have liked too....

It's that low on Rotten Tomatoes!? I only assumed Metacritic because when you google it, it had that number, WOW- wonder if it will keep going down.... I haven't seen it yet so I don't know why the script and story is that bad but I was just venting about how the writers clearly didn't plan ahead and that this seems to have just been thrown together.

Seeing it tomorrow night, I bet it will be fun but it will completely ignore continuity and common sense- think of it like the Expendables 2- possibly stupid but really FUN.

Hey everyone. Since we are coming to a pretty close end to the year, why not share our Top 5 movies of the year so far? (Keep in mind that t… morehese are subject to change in the future)
Mine go as:
1. Kingsman: The Secret Service
2. Inside Out
3. The Martian
4. Mad Max: Fury Road
5. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Might write a review later but I saw SPECTRE and LOVED IT.
I will admit, Casino Royale and Skyfall were much better "films" but this was a funner "movie". Monica Bellucci had less screen-time then Jet Li did in the Expendables 3 but other than that, Waltz was creepy and I wasn't a big fan of the theme song at first but I was moved after seeing it with the video that goes along with it.
I still think that the whole plot clearly wasn't planned before and the whole "connecting the dots" to the other movies seems like B.S to me but check it out to judge for yourself. There are plot-holes, contradictions, and some stuff that's just plain old stupid but this is still a lot of fun and there's a lot of classic Bond references. Personally, I would like another Bond movie with Craig but I could see them ending it with this to go back to more light-hearted styled movies or something like that with a different actor.
Nice. So I could tell the entertainment value is high up! It would be nice to mix in a serviceable story though. Gon' have to judge for myself tomorrow. Expect a review of that mate.

Overall, I would definitely recommend a watch.
Spectre is the 24th official James Bond movie directed by Sam Mendes who returns to the directors seat after Skyfall and it stars Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux among others including Dave Bautista, Ralph Fiennes, and Ben Whishaw. The plot in Daniels Craig 4th movie as Bond follows him coping after M's death in Skyfall and he ends up uncovering the existence of a sinister organization called SPECTRE while the new M battles political forces which threaten MI6 as Bond finds a startling connection between himself and the heart of SPECTRE.
The Negatives
First off, this movie suffers from coming off the success of Skyfall. Next, I didn't really know of her before this but Monica Bellucci was kind of advertised as a big part of this but she literally has less screen time here than Jet Li did in the Expendables 3...The theme song isn't much compared to Adele's Skyfall but the visuals in the theater with characters from the other Bond movies made it interesting and enjoyable for me. Also, Bond villains can be stupid sometimes and even though I think Christoph Waltz gave a good performance- his characters motives were so stupid, luckily they don't focus on them TOO much but still, when they reveal them you're left thinking "worst villain reasoning ever...". This reason now is nitpicking but there is a part where M says to the government guy named C (C is the head of MI5 and questions if MI6 is still relevant) "Now we know what C stands for..." and the audience started cracking up but then M says "Careless" and the audience then died...The main thing that annoyed me was the whole "connecting the dots" thing- the filmmakers try to say that SPECTRE was responsible for some things that happened in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall and Chrtioph Waltz's character straight up says "It was me James, it is me, it always has been ME, the author of all your pain.." but you just can't buy it and it is SO obvious that this was last-minute writing to make the bad guys seem more intimidating.
The Positives
Now with the positives, this movie was kinda stupid but still- it was a lot of fun. Most of the actors gave good performances and I'm shocked that critics are criticizing Christoph Waltz the most here, he was creepy at times and he gave a great performance- the only negative from him wasn't his fault and it was the character writing. Also, Lea Seydoux made a great Bond girl, Dave Bautista was just a bad-ass, Ben Whishaw brought some humor as Q, Jesper Christensen makes an appearance in his role as Mr. White from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace with Judi Dench's M having a brief video cameo. The opening in Mexico City was well-shot and choreographed while the action throughout the movie was really entertaining. Besides being fun, this also had a kind of classic Bond feel to it despite being set in the modern age. Of course, there's a hot car in here and Craig got to finally use a few gadgets after not really using much in his first 3. The SONY hackings and leaks probably damaged this movie some and the third act can seem thrown together but as I've said: it's fun and they wrapped this up in a good way that could end Craig's run as Bond, or set up one more (I think Craig is contracted for one more but he's expressed disinterest in doing another).
Overall: While not on the critic levels of Casino Royale or Skyfall, Spectre still offers a great Bond movie with fun action and a great villain but I understand why some critics don't like it- I think for me right now it ranks in the upper-middle of my ranking for Bond movies- B+
I too didn't like how Waltz just blatantly says, "Oh yea all that shit that happened in the previous movies, that was because of me now look at me as the big villain I am." Don't get me wrong, Waltz was awesome in the movie, but the writing for the character was off. Bautista was a badass, but the way they handled his character was disappointing. HE DIES MIDWAY THROUGH THE FILM!
And while the action was cool, I thought the plane chase scene was meh.
EDIT: Also, do you remember the scene where near the end of the film, the remainder of Waltz's henchmen kidnap Bond? Remember how Ralph Fiennes (M) was nearly screwed? Nope, he gets away clean and simple. I really don't like it when movies do that. It's just incredibly unrealistic.

One of my most anticipated movies of the year turned out to be quite the disappointment. Here's what I gotta say about the newest James Bond installment, Spectre.
Spectre is directed by Sam Mendes - the guy who made Skyfall - and it stars Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, and Lea Seydoux among many others. It essentially follows Bond as he tries to uncover the mystery revolving around the sinister organization, Spectre. Along the way, Bond goes through a series of events that reveal a disturbing connection between him and the head honcho of said organization.
The Positives
The cast did a really good job as usual. Craig kills it as Bond cause he's a suave badass that can get the ladies like nothing. We've seen it in the previous films, so I don't need to say much here. Christoph Waltz, while a bit disappointing (I'll get to that later), still owned his role. His intro was great because he was all ominous and sinister to Bond, and I absolutely love the way he delivers his lines. Lea Seydoux was a badass bond girl who seemed like she's the only lady that can maintain a stable relationship with Bond. Dave Bautista was essentially the BIG henchman that would constantly stop Bond in his tracks. He doesn't talk, he's just there to fuck shit up. And he does that perfectly. Performance wise, nothing too bad.
The Cinematography for this film is really good. The action sequences were riveting and intense (except the one with this plane chase, I thought it was bland), and many scenes were well choreographed. The intro shot alone was a long take, and I fucking love it when directors take the initiative to make those scenes. Compared to the other films in the series, Spectre has a lot more action set pieces. This is one of the more "fun" films of the Craig Bond franchise. So, in terms of entertainment, the movie is a big thumbs up.
The Negatives
The intro theme song for this movie was NOT GOOD. It's not a bad song, it just didn't fit with the tone/mood of the movie AT ALL I know I'm comparing this movie to Skyfall and Casino Royale a bit too much, but you have to admit that the intro themes for those movies were incredible. Downright eargasmic. This theme hit all the absolute wrong notes. It wasn't energetic, it wasn't upbeat. It feels like it belongs in a sappy romance/drama movie. If you fuck up the intro theme for a Bond movie, then you know lots of other things will be bad as well. As a matter of fact, I actually thought Quantum of Solace's theme wasn't that bad.
(May contain spoilers for the script)
The script was very weak. It's not awful per se, but it's just disappointing. It doesn't do the film any justice at all. For example, Christoph Waltz' character was not well written. He did have good dialogue, but the character and his back story were poorly executed. As a matter of fact, he downright says that he's the sole reason why everything in the previous Bond films happened. No exposition, he just downright says that it is what it is. Not only that, his character was insanely under used. He only appears in like, 2 major scenes and that's it. Even Bautista's character was underused. They ended his character arch so quick, that I was about to make a joke about cuming but I can't because I can't find a way. There was also this side story concerning a character called C, and how he wanted to end the 00 program (kinda like Rogue Nation). This side story felt completely irrelevant, and the writers tried to find some way to connect this with Spectre, but ultimately fail. If they had done away with this portion of the film, the story would have been much more interesting.
Plane chase scene was meh.
The shift in tone compared to the previous Craig movies was something I really didn't like. While it is good to see that we're taking a happy go lucky feeling in the movie, I find it really dumb to change the tone near the end because it all feels inconsistent. I'm not saying I didn't like the humor in the movie though.
Overall
I was coming into this movie expecting a great conclusion to Craig's Bond franchise. However, instead of ending it with a bang, it ended like a tiny firecracker. Did I find the movie disappointing? Yea I did. I mean I told you in the beginning. The film did have great cinematography and solid performances, but there are so many things that are wrong with the movie that I just can't forgive them. If there was another word other than disappointing to describe this movie, it would be underwhelming.
did any of you all seen the Star Wars 7 international trailer??? man that REALLY hyped me! the official trailer didnt move too much, but this holy hype.
this one has nothing to do with this thread, but can someone do one for 2015 Games. i was going to make one, but im kinda lazy :P lol and i really want to deal with the notifications, specially if it will get as popular as this one.
I know dude. So much stuff has come up that I forget about the movie sometimes. I'll try to find it somewhere, and when I do, you bet your ass there's gon' be a review about it!
Good review, when I said I was spoiled by seeing the top of the Wiki- I was spoiled by the whole Blofield reveal so I knew that Waltz was gonna end up being Bloefield. And what was Franz/Blofields motivation- he got pissed off that his daddy tried to help a depressed orphan whose parents had recently died? They never exactly said his character was a psycho as a child so it just seemed random and as bad writing to me. I also didn't like the theme but I enjoyed the visuals with all of the stuff from Bonds past even though I didn't by the whole "They've been connected the whole time thing" . The torture scene was a let down for me, I heard there was gonna be one and I was expecting more than just a few Die Another Day type neck drills. I can point out a lot of things I didn't like but I think this is gonna go down as a guilty pleasure for me. Personally, I think this will be the last Craig movie but I would like one more- What's the point of re-introducing the organization and blofeld to just have them around for 1 movie that happens to be the one right before the 25th? If Craig comes back for another- I would want him and Lea Seydouxs characters to be married but she's then killed by a Spectre agent (like that old Bond movie), Blofield gets broken out, some new villain gets added in, Bond goes on a killing rampage, and blabla Bond stuff.
I liked Spectre but I do get why some people are hating it since it does have a lot of flaws.

I just watched my favorite movie this year - and you can see it for free (AND legally!) on Youtube!

Nice review.
Spectre Movie Review
Grade: C+
I know who's gon' win the Oscars next year.
bro.. did you watch it??!
... the opposite of yes....
I'll get it on blu ray lol.
i got a couple of things i have to put.
lol man ive been waiting on you to watch this movie!
