What Are you Happy to have or are Thankful For? Positive and Funny Thread

So, I know that we have fun bs'ing all the time in the Vent thread and other threads, and those are good places for us to do just that! Because Lord knows we all need to just blow off some steam and talk crap sometimes, and we get into some healthy and sometimes not so healthy debates and discussions... but I wanted to make something that could be a happy place or just a place to talk about the things in our lives we're happy to have!

It could be a significant other, a movie, a video game, music, a project we want to do in the future that makes us excited, our family, our friends, a new car, our college, our home? What are you thankful for or happy you have? Or maybe you want to brag about your good grades, your personal triumphs, something cool you have or love?

Or, maybe just post something that acts as inspiration for you. Something that maybe you want others to see or know or have to use for encouragement in their hard times?

I just wanted to try and make a place we could talk about the great things we have, for one, I'll start with...

These forums.

The cheesiness of that statement might make you roll your eyes, but I must say I'm so thankful to have these forums. I've met a lot of good people on here, and even seen more great opinions and thought provoking threads and debates. I'm glad I could be a part of this community. :)

And now for something inspirational.

This song just came at a great time, and the lyrics ring true of life and the challenges we face.

Now, go on to posting positive things! I know we all have something we'd like to say! :)

  • Hmm. I can only say: "Nothing". Nothing really gets me excited. Some things may, but it's temporary. Fleeting, like the time itself.

I'll take my leave before I pollute the thread with my negativity.

  • I'm certain there's something that makes you happy. And something that you're thankful for. Sometimes we just gotta think about it. Happiness can be hard to find.

I love cheese! There's plenty of things I'm grateful for.

    -- I'm not dead

    -- I'm healthy

-- I'm not sleeping in the streets

-- I'm reasonably intelligent and attractive

-- I have a job, such as it is.

-- I grew up in a steady, loving, middle-class household

    -- Fallout 4 is coming.

-- I live in Florida, where I can go to college without ending up in crushing debt.

-- I have a reasonable bright future despite my best efforts.

-- I have family and friends who are willing to put up with me.

-- I have the coolest dog in the world.

-- I have an unopened pint of beer in the fridge.

For a legally blind person who could've easily died or lost their spleen a couple years ago, I'm doing pretty good.

  • I'm afraid I can't say if anything does.

  • Then maybe you should pursue something that does make you happy. Video games and art are always my go too for when I need a break or need a pick me up. I'm sorry that you truly feel like there's nothing to make you happy. :<

Those are the things I'd say I'm thankful for, as well. The rest I simply doubt (like my intelligence or attractiveness or having a bright future, if any) or don't have (the dog or an unopened pint of beer).

  • That's the problem, lol. I don't know what would have. Don't be sorry for me.

  • What has in the past? I know when I'm depressed even the things I love can't make me happy. And well I am, especially if you have depression or are going through a rough time lately. Things can get shitty in life. But they will get better. I believe that.

  • Video games, books, music. But video games I've played have grown stale, music only temporarily raises my spirits and I don't really have a desire to read books right now. I'm also trying my hand in writing, but I don't think it's worth a damn or that anyone would want to read it or would like it. I often have a rather depressing mood, often for no apparent reason. I'm also quite pessimistic, so I don't believe that things will get better.

Well, look at me. It's a thread for positive things and here I keep complaining.

  • Cheese is the best, the sharper the better.

Crackers, sharp cheddar cheese and a Yuengling is the meal of the gods!

  • I'm thankful to have a place to call home and parents that supports my future aspirations, financially.

  • At this moment, I can't say there are many things that make me happy. Perhaps I'm being a little (or a lot) ungrateful, but in the past few years, nothing has really made me happy. But anyway, I'm still healthy (as far as I know), have a nice family, despite its problems. I also have a place to call home. And that's it I guess.

That's a cool thread though, I'm glad you created it.

  • I'm healthy and alive, and fallout is in a few days. Only thing I have to look forward to.
