Explain to me how the fuck that equates to a "slightly updated fallout 3". Have you even played It, or are you like those idiots on metacritic who give games 0/10 with no basis whatsoever?
Yeah, like I said Skyrim is the only game made by Bethesda that I played and I think it was a good one. Not without flawes of course but still I enjoyed it. Mainly because I like fantasy. Also I like post-apocalypse. Hm... good thing that there is no rush for me so I can think about this.

I'll tell people it's a good game even though my high expectations weren't met, and they possibly would have if it was modified Fallout 3 (or better yet - New Vegas). Instead, it's a different game. Very good, though not what I was personally hoping for.
The bugs are actually pretty much the same tho, I just got up from my chair after an atmospheric cutscene and knocked someone's desk cooling fan right across their room...
EDIT: Actually, it might be what I was hoping for after all and I'll swallow my words... I've encountered some neat things and won't diss any part of the game any more until I've properly finished it.
So far it's pretty great. I did run into an annoying glitch on the quest "Confidence Man", so I'd recommend saving that one for later (I'm on PS4 btw). I haven't had the game freeze yet and I've been playing it almost non-stop since release. Combat is vastly improved, the companion system is pretty good, Weapon modding is fantastic. Settlement building is a little overwhelming for me at the moment, I think you'd need to sink a ton of hours in to get good at it. Overall it's pretty damn good, totally worth the price ($80 for me; damn Canadian dollar).

Does anybody know if you can move objects up and down while in building mode? I know there's a rotate option but there doesn't seem to be an… morey control for moving materials up or down - it's annoying to see my fences floating when I'm trying to build a garden enclosure.
Especially if the game is a bit expensive. I mean, the worst case scenerio is to buy a game that costs a lot and then regret it (while also losing a lot of money).
Honestly I haven't even run into any bugs yet. Not like in the old Fallout games and in Skyrim. In Skyrim I've had entire quests break because dialog options don't appear no matter what, and in the old Fallout games crazy shit always happened, not to mention all the crashing to the desktop. Honestly I only crashed to the desktop once, and the day 2 patch fixed that and it hasn't happened again. I'd also like to say that this time around quick saving is reliable, because it doesn't randomly bloat the file causing instant crashes to the desktop.
Honestly the game does feel like a Fallout game, but it does in the same way that New Vegas felt like a Fallout game after having played 3. It's different in all the ways you said, but then you have the addition of the voice acted pc, and the general stability of the game itself. The stability impresses me most off all.
What can I say? I don't really appreciate misinformation.
Does the game have flaws? Definitely. But calling it an update of Fallout 3 is just ridiculous.
Most of the bad reviews I've seen attack the same two things primarily. They don't like that the main character is voice acted, and they don't like the new way the dialog options show up. It's more like Mass Effect in how you select your dialog options than it is the previous two Fallout games. My main thought on the matter is that even though there are less options, there's still more dialog. In the previous Fallout games there would be 6-10 possible things to say, and generally only 2 conversation paths those dialog options would take you. Now you generally get a different response based on the option you pick, and it's my thought that consolidating the amount of things you can say allowed them to voice more responses.
Also, when comparing Fallout to Skyrim, I'd say that Skyrim feels more clunky to me than any Fallout game. The hud in Fallout is preferable to me personally, as is the entire menu system. That's just an added thought that's entirely my own opinion though.
Edit: I'd also like to add that most of the reviews seemed like they were posted only very shortly after the game released, so most of them, good and bad, are probably just people rehashing their thoughts prior to the game's actual launch.
I'm still not sure about Fallout 4. I enver played previous Fallouts and the only game from Bethesda that I tried was Skyrim. IMO it was pre… moretty good, I liked it. Although like I said I don't know what to think about Fallout 4. There is lot of good reviews but also a lot of bad ones.
I had a bit of an issue with this as well when describing how baseball is actually played to a guy in Diamond City. I just wanted to explain, but my person called him a dumbass lol. It was amusing, but not what I had intended. This is really the only instance of an option being far off from what I expected though, at least so far.
They also complain about repetitive side quests, small map, empty and boring world, lots of bugs and glitches... and overall that it gets boring after a few hours. That's why I'm not sure because of the amount of those reviews.

I freaking suck at this game lol. I died no less than 30 times trying to clear out that factory towards the beginning of the game. It took me forever to get in without dying too, but I found a drain pipe.
Just from my personal experience I haven't encountered a ton of glitches. Honestly I can't even think of one off the top of my head. Not even stretching textures, which used to be so prominent. It's been the most stable Bethesda game I've played to date. Of course I don't have hundreds of hours of play testing under my belt, this is just my experience thus far.
Repetitive side quests, I can see this in a way. The main side quests I've done have been clearing out raiders that are attacking settlements. Otherwise they're mostly building clearing quests or fetch quests. All open world games basically are the same in this regard. The thing that always stands out for me in Fallout though, is finding bits and bobs of lore as I play. Terminals, old notes, that sort of stuff.
As for the map being small, in total I heard that it's over two times the size of the map in Fallout 3. There is a lot of water, but since you can walk on the bottom in power armor, and there is a perk to breathe underwater, I imagine underwater exploration will probably be a pretty big thing. Again though, I'm not far enough to confirm that.
I wouldn't say the world is any more or any less empty than the worlds have been in Skyrim and the previous two Fallout games. You travel around, and as you go you run into mutated creatures, raiders, and sometimes friendlies. There is less to find in the rural areas of the map, but if you travel through the urban areas there are buildings to explore everywhere.
It getting boring after a few hours is completely subjective. If you enjoyed previous Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, you basically will enjoy this I think. There are a lot of changes, but it still feels like a Fallout game. Everything else aside, just building up a settlement alone can be fun for a few hours.

Wow, thanks that you took some of your time to explain this to me. This will certainly give me some perspective while I'll decide whether or not buy this game. Also I didn't knew that you can walk underwater in the power suit. Of course I never played Fallout before so that's probably the reason why I don't know about this. This sounds interesting in any case.

Absolutely. But I think that, for better or worse, a lot of the core mechanics are fundamentally different from last-gen fallout.
I kinda miss skill/attribute checks though.
I don't think it's a bad game by any means, and I have been enjoying it. Maybe you should check out some videos on YouTube to get a better feel for the combat and such, hopefully ones without spoilers.

Well, I watched a couple that only lasted to the first city at the beginning of the game so I saw a few combats by now. Of course it'd be better if I experienced it myself but so far I think that it's not that bad.

Have you seen steam reviews? Also on my native sites people usually complain about this game. "iIt's Fallout only in title" some of them say. You can't even begin to imagine how much hate this game receives from some people where are live. I mean constructive criticims, nothing like "This game sucks and so does Bethesda" for example.
Clearing the raiders out of the Corvega Plant (huge car factory). I stood on the highway above and picked off the exterior guards one by one while Ride of the Valkyries was playing.
Most epic Fallout 4 moment yet:

What's yours?
One of my favorite moments so far was when I threw a frag grenade into a room and blew up two charging raiders. As they exploded into pieces they were sent soaring into my direction, and pieces of limbs and torsos flew by me, and one of the torsos smacked into me. It looked so gruesome, but so funny at the same time.

ohh my god im so glad im not the only one that had problem with that mission. lol still trying to get used to the controllers, i switched them to how Fo3 has them cuz muscle memory... gotta say the combat is so improved. love it. it feels like a Fallout game, its so great. and it its awesome, but also kinda suck dogmeat cant die. not that i want to, i leave dog meat on megatown on my house on FO3. well i was trying to figure out the place so i knew where the big danger was, so i could prepare well... well i didnt take him out, but on here when the death claw at the begging came out it attacked dogmeat and didnt die. he kinda crippled him and idk if he got better cuz i gave him some rat mole meat or idk, but he cant die right??? right???...

really like it. at first i just though ehh well its just Fallout, nothing really special, but as i did more it became clearer how it was better. the combat is so much better. like everything is better. and it has actually felt like a survival game. i mean i guess cuz its the beginning in fallout 3 it also felt kinda ominous when you were all srubish, but man it has been pretty cool. im checking corner every time. i mean i went into a cementary, open a door to one of those big resting places and inside there was a skull place in some sort of way, and when i was heading out this fucking raider bitch attacked me, i actually jump out my seat and killed her lol. it was so fun. and then i wen to like a lil downtown area, to got to the car factory and i ran into a building with feral ghouls, holy shit was it blood pumping. ghouls are actually kinda scary in this game. they attack in packs so good.

Yeah, waiting is probably the best course of action if you're on the fence.
I move the mouse up and down and that works for me.

There's a special behemoth called Swan. I accidentally stumbled acrossed it when I did the quest for the freedom trail.
Once you meet the robot, head towards this pond, and the location is literally called Swans pond or something.
Well I did encounter a few bugs when in dialogue mode and frame rate hiccups, but other than that I'm satisfied.
Feral ghouls are the fucking worst man.

It just works.
The eyes of this girl disappeared for a second for me and I got a great screenshot.
Do it!
