I prefer Asher's story to Rodrik's because of his relationship with Beskha and his fiery personality. To me he's more like a force of nature than anything else - a hurricane crossing the Narrow Sea to lay waste to the Whitehills.
How cool is Rodrik, though? If you've chosen him to survive he's easily the toughest SOB in Westeros. He's survived the Red Wedding, being dragged on a corpse cart all the way north, Ramsay Snow, beatings from Gryff, and what transpired in Episode 6. Rodrik the Ruined? More like Rodrik the Indestructible.
Rodrik was my canon choice, but his story was more brutal and depressing than Asher's. With Asher, you at least had a few potential good moments, but everything always seemed to go wrong as Rodrik.

I liked Rodriks better, although it was super depressing in comparison to Ashers. (Like how Ludd forced Ryon to hold up Ashers head on a stick, and Elaena being drags away screaming for help when you cant do anything about it
I think I prefer Asher's side. Killing Gryff as Rodrik was great, but Asher is the prodigal son and it's just more fitting to me that he survives. Things just felt way more bleak when I played as Rodrik.

I prefer Rodrik as a character over Asher, but I think that their story threads in this episode both fit them.
For my Rodrik, all I wante… mored against the Whitehills was to get even and wipe them all out. Having Gryff on his knees, and then finishing him off, seemed like the perfect turn around for a man who can't be broken.
But for Asher, I wanted to at least have the chance of peace (especially considering that trying to make peace is a big theme of the ASOIAF books.) I had him let down his family to marry Gwyn, in the hope that maybe the fighting would end. But fate is a fickle mistress for the star-crossed lovers...
From what I saw in playthroughs, Elissa argues with Asher about his last-minute call-off and loses it (I cannot fault her in the slightest to be honest...), stabbing Ludd in the face (he escapes with only wounds though, and instead you can kill Gryff). Then the usual mayhem in the hall starts, but Gwyn will help Asher in this case.
Yeah well...it's not like Rodrik has much alternative, with the Whitehills going for assaulting Ironrath directly and shoving his brother's severed head in his face
I agree though about liking having more possible courses of action as Asher. I really thought you could somehow make it with him...but of course the ending couldn't be that different.
Rodrik was my original story, but I prefer Asher's. Here are some of the reasons why:
Asher being killed the moment he makes landfall was too much in my eyes. He deserved to see his family again and make the Whitehills pay. It's also more fitting that Rodrik would sacrifice his life to save his younger brother. And it's kind of a dick move to just leave Beskha all alone after dragging her halfway across the world.
I like Asher more than Rodrik. Both are great characters, but Asher has that sarcasm going for him, and he is a pretty cool fella. Rodrik is earnest and strong, but his story was over in my opinion, at least more so than Asher's. He did the best he could and enabled his younger brother to escape, which felt like something Rodrik would do.
The feast scene is more fitting in my opinion. The 'Rodrik is dead, so Ramsay's terms are fulfilled' twist was interesting and I honestly didn't even think about it like that before. Planning what to do (poison Ludd/ambush Ludd) is more GoT than just sneaking in the enemy camp and murdering everything in sight. The scene also reminded me of a Red Wedding on a smaller scale, so Asher kind of got payback for his father's death at the Twins by doing the same to Ludd instead of straight out beheading him. The choice wether to stop Elissa from drinking or letting her drink and before that wether to break with the plan or keep it going was really hard. It's also more fitting that Asher, who wasn't trained to be a Lord, now has to take up responsibility and stop thinking like a selldword.
So in conclusion, Asher all the way for me, even if I foolishly chose Rodrik the first time around. Almost everything was better about it except for Gryff's kind of lackluster death.
Rodrik's story is great for action and revenge, but Asher's is more GoT like and consistent with the character's personalities (I can't see Rodrik running away and leaving his little brother to die without a player decision honestly)
They're both good in their own way, I do however prefer Rodriks version better as it seems to have more depth and shock like seeing Ashers head on a stick and you get to kill Gryff or Ludd in a more cooler way than you do with Asher.

I felt people respected and were more behind Asher than what they were with Rodrik. When Rodrik comes back and tells everyone what happened to Asher a lot of people were upset and lady Elissa even says a lot of people looked upto Asher. I agree i felt at times I wasn't in control when playing Rodrik but it would be good to see how things turn out in season 2
I suppose if you play as rodrik , you already have her support , since her family killed the man she loved and beheaded him and fed his body to the dogs , and don't forget that she was the one telling rodrik that ludd came with his army
I don't think people respected Rodrik less, but yeah, Asher's scenario was way more uplifting at times. For Rodrik to return home with his brother dead...it's yet another failure, and right before the final battle it preludes to disaster, so maybe that's why the people look discouraged. Also with Asher you seem to have a much better chance of survival with the ambush/poison plan than being attacked by the whole army straightaway, that makes you feel cornered from the very start. It's so sad though, because Rodrik always tried his hardest to protect his family and nothing, nothing ever went his way (if you face him at the camp, Gryff even dares saying that he always thinks things will go his way...if only they did ONCE! >.<).

I preferred Rodrik's story. Chopping off Ludd's head was a satisfying end to their personal conflict. Strangely enough, after I chopped off his head, I realized I had some form of respect for Ludd. He's a douche, to be sure, but he faced his death like a man, instead of crying, like Gryff.
I gotta love them both,Best characters of Got for me ,But i siglhty prefered Rodrik's story , Asher is awesome , but it's asher's story that doesn't fit in for me , first off ,When asher invited them to the Ice wedding .Any fool would have considered it could be a trap but instead of that .Ludd not only come with Gwyn , but also with Gryff .It was very cool that red wedding revenge , but Ludd should have known that it was a trap , and shouldn't have brought his entire family to a death trap , even with the soldiers he brought in .Both are very awesome characters in their own way, and each one have their style .Let's not try to figure out who's the best one .Because there are both the best , Everyone has a different opinion .Some people prefer Peanut Butter and some prefer Nutella .
That and it doesn't seem quite right that Asher would go down very easily in Episode 5 if he stays behind as he's proven to be a tough fighter who's not afraid to get his hands dirty. Rodrik's easy defeat in Episode 5 if he stays behind makes WAY more sense to me since he's just getting over his wounds and probably isn't in the absolute BEST shape to fight gangs of men by himself.

Well it's way more satisfying killing ludd/gryff with rodrik, who was humiliated by them so many times. But Asher had this wedding with gwyn. I also like ashers fighting scene with Gryff on that table more. I really cant decide.
I can't explain how lost I was in my endings I was like "OMG this shit is all crambling apart what the shit do I do?"
ahm so Mira died in ym story, total heartbreak for me, but I could never make Mira that guy's bitch or deliver house Forrester to that idiot. But deep insde of me I really wish I could have saved her :S Is a total mixed feeling.
I choose Rodrick ro die in episode 4 and it was aother heartbreak but I identifu with Asher personality too much, taht's why I kept him alive. Also I think Rodrick would more easily die to save his house since he was already so weak that he could not fight as much as Asher. Ok so in ASher story I choose the poison plan, but then when my mom tried to drink it I didn't let her... Yeah stupid feelings, should have just let her die (I don't think I really could) because she ends up dying anyways... So it was the battle, I kileld gryff in the fireplace and the almost died when they broke the gates, Duncan saved me and died and House Forrester is alst since burning to ashes... what I kind describe is taht during the battle between Asher, house forrester and the slaves I was like "WHAT THE SHIT DO I DO??? WHAT DO I DO???? WE ARE ALL DEAD!!!! HOW IS ASHER STILL ALIVE???" (like he takes a knife stab by gwyn, a sword trough his body by that other dude, so manny punches, and he gets a arrow in the stomach :P) But he lives in the end and I don't understand why but Ser Royland was there with my sister to help me. And Bershka saved my little brother.
In Gareth's story, I used Finn's heart for the blood magic and SIvir went away, and I decided to stay in the North Groove just because I mean Lord FOrrester (you know the first one from the game :P) said it was important that the North Groove was kept intact so I'm guessing that's important for some reason. Ithas all that magic stuff in there and maybe JUST MAYBE if there's a second seson it will be important to have that. If I don't end up letting that entire thing burn like I did the FOrrester's house...
I liked rodriks a lot , it had lots of leaderish choices and a more Game of thrones feel to it , while Asher's storyline was cool but it don't feel as emotional besides the gwyn part, and it seems weird that she would abandon her family for a man she hasn't seen in 4 years who had been killing people for a lifestyle idk kinda sketchy still liked it tho
I made Asher live because it would be like if Danny got to Westros and died 5 mins later. All that build up for nothing, also Rodrik dying to protect his brother made more sense in my game.
Definitely prefer Rodriks story...I love Asher, and it's hard to choose as both Russ and Alex have taken time to message me on Twitter more than once, but there is something in Rodrik. His nobility, and honour which are just so him. Asher tries, but he has an underlying reckless streak, which whilst it makes him insanely loveable and a talented warrior, he is maybe a little too hot headed.

hey sniper can you or someone from TT ban this weird person thats sending me weird shit. i dont even know who he is.
I like to call him Rodrik the Unbroken.
Send me a PM with more info and I can help.
does anyone have a clip of the outcome of calling off the plan?
I liked Rodriks better, although it was super depressing in comparison to Ashers. (Like how Ludd forced Ryon to hold up Ashers head on a stick, and Elaena being drags away screaming for help when you cant do anything about it
Found one!

That's a much better epithet. TT should use this in Season 2.
I've seen it going around the forums. I think it's a pretty widely accepted head canon.
I agree that Rodrik's version is bleaker. But I personally felt it was more satisfying and awesome killing Ludd/Gryff and Harys with Rodrik.
Rodrik was my canon choice. But zi preferred Asher's story.
I prefer Asher's story.
I like Asher's better, but I can understand that.
Agreed
What happens if you play along? How do things get screwed up?

Rodriks there was a lot more siege defending involved and you get to wear the awesome Forrester armour.

I like it when Asher breaks the plan. Because he truly earns Gwen's loyalty.
Can you earn Gwynns support and still kill Ludd?
No, you can't. The only way to get that outcome is to call off the plan; you get to kill Gryff in the fight, but not Ludd.
They thought of everything lmao. Shame..

Edit: Apparently so! See the post below mine.
You can actually kill Ludd with Asher if you let Elissa drink the poison as well.

Asher was set up to die.
He knew he was going to die if he went back to Westeros.
Beshka knew he would die.
He did his duty and brought swords.
He had nothing to live for.
Roderik had Lady Glenmore.
It was no choice at all.
Asher's was definitely better. Although my canon choice was roderick.
