Ranking telltale finales.

Finales seem to be telltales best episodes, at least for the most part. I usually think the episode rankings are finales, third episodes, second episodes, penultimate episodes, and piolot episodes. What is your favorite telltale finale.
My ranking
The best: the walking dead season 1 no time left
Second best: tales from the borderlands the vault of the traveller
Second to least: the wolf among us cry wolf
the least: the walking dead season 2 no going back

Comments

    1. Tales From the Borderlands - The Vault of The Traveler
    2. The Walking Dead Season 1 - No Time Left
    3. The Walking Dead Season 2 - No Going Back
    4. The Wolf Among Us - Cry Wolf (Not a big fan of TWAU)

P.S. My list will be updated after the finale of GoT comes out.

    1. No Time Left: No matter what Telltale may do, nothing will ever be able to top this episode. Despite a few moments that happen for the sake of the plot (Lee's impossible herd scene, knowing what room The Stranger is in, Clem carrying Lee into a jewelry store), the writing is just so damn perfect, and the ending was phenomenal.
    2. The Vault of The Traveler: I'm going to go ahead and say it, the ending was almost as emotional as the end of S1 of TWD. Gortys said it best, "That was a roller coaster of emotions." One minute I'm laughing, the next I'm crying, then laughing again. Despite some quick resolutions, such as with Vallory, the rest of the episode was great, and the battle with The Traveler was amazing. Praying for a Season 2.
    3. No Going Back: the first three minutes was rough, what with the whole shootout result, Buricko and Vitali switching spots and guns, it was poorly handled. However, the rest of the episode makes up for it. There was great character development, there were some great choices, and I enjoyed the multiple endings. The Kenny vs. Jane choice was not only the hardest choice I've had to make in TWD, it was the hardest choice to make in any Telltale game to date.
    4. Cry Wolf: While short, it does what it needs to and doesn't feel like it begins to drag on. The Bloody Mary fight, the Crooked Man trial, and the ending are some of the highlights.
    5. The Ice Dragon: While last, it doesn't mean I don't like it. While I believe that Game of Thrones was better than The Wolf Among Us, I did find TWAU finale better than Thrones'. The episode did great with choices, but I consider it the weakest due to all of the loose ends. I get it, they were setting up Season 2, but still, it would have been nice for one of the stories to have a conclusive ending that didn't result in someone dying.

All of these Finales are 10/10's in my opinion so this was HARD!!!

    1. Vault of The Traveler - Absolute pure perfection. Not one scene in this episode felt dragged out or flawed too me. 100% enjoyable.

    2. Cry Wolf - Short, but Ohhhh so sweet! LOVED every scene in this finale. The trial is one of my favorite scenes in a Telltale game. Also the ending reveal was so well done

    3. No Time Left - Okay! Hear me out. I LOVE No Time Left...Like a lot, but...I like Tales and Wolf just a bit more.

    4. No Going Back - Shoot out was too safe in my opinion, but everything else was incredibly well done. The campfire scene, and the flash back were incredible. Also shooting Kenny or killing Jane was one of the hardest choices I've ever had to make in a Telltale game.

    5. The Ice Dragon (8.5) - Yeah, it's the first finale in a very long time to not receive anything lower than a 10, but it was still a fantastic episode with tons of branching paths and brilliant action scene's.

    1. Tales From the Borderlands- The Vault of the Traveler
    2. The Walking Dead S1- No Time Left
    3. The Wolf Among Us- Cry Wolf
    4. The Walking Dead S2- No Going Back
    1. No Time Left (tied with) Vault of the Traveler - Both were phenomenal ends to great series, Tales had a weak start with Jack's poorly handled betrayal (if you sided with him), TWD showed weakness with the stranger's ridiculous nitpicking (depending on your actions), but both were still fantastic.
    2. No Going Back, despite the shootout and lake scenes being a letdown, the moment after the fight, where everyone is talking by the fire, and the endings are some of my all-time favourite Telltale moments. Ps. hardest choice I've ever made in a game They were my two Favourite characters(aside from Clem and Lee of course).
    3. Cry Wolf - a bit too short, and not very re-playable, still pretty good.
    4. Jurassic park finale (don't remember the name) - ok, first of all I didn't actually play this, I just watched a let's play. That being said the ending was pretty lacklustre and a certain character (sadly my favourite one) acted kind of stupidly.
    5. Since I'm not even planing on playing it after a mediocre 4 episodes followed by an awful 5th I'm going to place GOT here. I could be wrong, maybe it will surprise us all, but based on what they've given us so far, I'm betting it won't be very satisfying. Ps. I really do hope I'm wrong since a lot of people still love the game, and I wish them the best, It's just what I'm predicting.
  • Professor Sorkin's complete personality change was DUMB. Also Yoder becoming a villain was so fucking cliche. Man the ending to Jurassic Park was shit beside the super cool action scenes.

Yeah Yoder is the one I was talking about, I really liked him and his death was sooooooo stupid, everyone in the series knew by that point not to move in front of a t-rex. I might be mixing up details, been awhile since I saw it.

    1. The Vault of The Traveler - Easily the best, most interesting, crazy finale yet. Also, unlike past finales your choices do very much come into play here.

    2. No Going Back - I know there's a lot of people that didn't like this one, but personally it was probably my favorite Telltale episode of all time before TFTBL ep 5, something about it was just great to me. I stayed interested the whole time, and liked a lot of the decisions Telltale made with this episode (despite how much others say they sucked). And that it has multiple endings is a nice touch too.

    3. No Time Left - Definitely an amazing finale, kept me on my toes the whole time. That ending too.

    4. Cry Wolf - Probably the only finale I really didn't find was done that well, most of the scenes felt really rushed, and while the final battle was pretty epic, it was also kind of lame as well (what happens to the villain, and how quick it lasted). Also since it's only a bit over an hour long, that doesn't really help in my book, I think there was a lot more they could have done if they just had added maybe another 20-30 minutes to the episode.

    1. The Vault of the Traveler - best ending to the best TTG (in my opinion)

    2. No Time Left - This one made me cry

    3. Cry Wolf - I really like a lot of this episode. Epic and fun.

    4. No Going Back - The multiple endings are good and that final choice was a pretty good one, but I have some problems with this one. Big problems, which is sad, cause there was a great campfire scene and such. Not a bad ending, just my least favorite.

EDIT: Because I am a nerd, I tallied everyone's vote - here are the collective results (so far, up to TheCatWolf's comment):

The Vault of the Traveler 30 pts

    No Time Left 28 pts

    Cry Wolf 15 pts

    No Going Back 14 pts

  • Damn, I haven't played TVOTT yet (busy week), and it seems like everyone loved it... I'm excited to play it now. Anyway:

1 - No Time Left: There's not much to say, the most emotional episode I've ever played it. The Stranger making you feel guilty for your choices, Clementine seeing her parents, everything about this episode is great. TWD S1 wouldn't be as good as it was without this episode.

2 - Cry Wolf: While a short episode, all scenes were great. Bloody mary fight, the crooked man's trial, etc. And the ending still gives me goosebumps.

3 - No Going Back: If I had to describe this episode in one word: Meh. The only season finale I didn't like. Perhaps it's my least favorite TT episode ever. The only ending I did like was the Wellington ending, the other ones were just meh.

I'll probably update this list once I play TFTB finale. :p

  • The action scenes were fabulous. Totally agree about Sorkin's personality change.

    1. No Time Left - Everything I can say has been said.
    2. Cry Wolf - Just a fun episode however all, I enjoyed it
    3. The Survivors - While Yoder's and Sorkin's personalities changes weren't very good, the action scenes are among the best Telltale has done.
    4. The Vault of the Traveler - I didn't enjoy this episode as everyone else did, but it was still pretty great.
    5. Outta Time - Still good, but I didn't like it as much as Citizen Brown.
    6. No Going Back - Didn't really like it, except maybe the fight itself, because that was brutal.

The second or third episodes of series tend to be my favorite, but that's just me.

    13. The Survivors
    1. No Time Left: Emotional and deep finale

    2. Vault of The Traveler: Definitely the best episode of TFTB

    3. No Going Back: An all around disappointment

    4. Cry Wolf: This episode had nothing really worthwhile in it besides the trial

    1. TFTBL Ep 5: A fantastic finale to a great game. Choices have large effects and it had some VERY funny moments (Cassius v. Vault Monster XD). Tons of replay value. +Fiona was quite a badass this episode. MVP: Jack/Fiona. Rate: 10/10
    2. No Time Left: Loved playing as Lee this episode. The quest to save Clementine being the main focus, with Lee's bite as a secondary was reallllyy interesting. Wish we got more Omid/Lee banter tho. MVP: Lee. Rate 9.5/10
    3. Not a telltale one, but imma throw Life is Strange finale here. Fun to play, very interesting. Dark room scenes were so creepy yet so fun. Last choice was very hard, and I loved both endings. MVP: Max (Jefferson is a close second). Rate: 9/10
    4. Cry Wolf: Relatively short episode and doesn't really prosper off previous episode's ending. The identity of the killer was pretty disappointing. Still very fun and lots of replay value. Loved the trial scene. MVP: Crooked Man (Bigby and Nerissa were very well played though). Rate: 9/10
    5. No Going Back: Somewhat lacklustre finale. Nice start, but the result of the gunfight was pretty lame. The frozen lake scene felt cheap, and a lot of characters acted out of character (BONNIE). Final fight scene was interesting, though Jane's actions had me scratching my head a bit... I liked the fact that there were multiple endings, and it was filled with memorable scenes (Loved Clem kicking out family ending). Kenny endings were amazing. Rate: 8/10
    1. The Vault Of The Traveller: Nothing can top this, enough said.

    2. No Time Left: Fucking amazing mate, good moments and very emotional.

    3. Cry Wolf: A bit short, and the bloody mary fight was disappointing, but still a good finale.

    4. No Going Back: What the fuck, telltale?

  • (Cassius v. Vault Monster XD).

Probably my favorite line of the episode, "you low-tier sonuvabitch."

  • 1- The Vault of the Traveler: Easily my number one. The emotions were real; there are only a few games that can get a reaction that strong from me, and this episode did it.

2- Cry wolf: Being able to strangle the crooked man just felt good. Bigby was a badass and I loved every second of it.

3- No Time Left: It was really good, no complaints

4- No Going Back: It was alright.

    1. No Time Left. This was easily my favorite Telltale ending. I can't overstate how much I love this game and its ending. Nothing else they've done comes close.
    2. Cry Wolf. It was a satisfying ending to a great game. It wrapped everything up nicely, and everything made sense.
    3. Vault of the Traveler. I was not nearly as impressed as everyone else seemed to be with this one. It had some awesome visuals and I really appreciated your choices coming back. But it was so damned serious compared to earlier episodes, and I really hated the Deux Ex Machina way they dealt with Sasha. Its probably my least favorite TftB episode. Still a good episode, mind you.
    4. No Going Back. This one would have been above Vault of the Traveler if not for how much the Kenny/Jane decision fell flat for me. It was supposed to be a difficult decision, but I hated both of them. I ended up alone without an iota of regret.

I'm assuming the GoT finale will be number 5. I really haven't been enjoying that series.

    1. Vault of the Traveler- This episode just has everything, it has well developed characters whose arcs are tied up in a meaningful way, action that tops all the others in the series, over the top hilarity, and really heartfelt character drama that worked since I deeply fell in love with almost every character by that point. It's certainly probably the most "happy ending ish" of Telltale's modern finales so far but I feel that's part of why I love it so much.
    2. No Time Left- Much like Vault of the Traveler, it does a fantastic job of ending each character's story in a meaningful way, has great emotional drama, and is left off with a beautiful ending of redemption and looking after the ones you care about.
    3. Cry Wolf- This is a mixed bag, I do enjoy the Crooked Man as an antagonist, and I do like the closure on what effect Bigby and Snow have on Fabletown in the trial scene. But the whole thing feels kind of rushed and unfinished. The twist with the killer is disappointing and could have been so much better handled instead, it's "Oh, he's the killer! Don't question it now since we're already here at the finale!" Bigby and Snow also don't really get much closure, I understand it's a prequel but at least maybe some semblance of a story arc ending but no after the trial scene, the whole thing is almost a race to the finish line. I did like the ending though.
    4. No Going Back- Hate it, I don't care for it honestly. Clem is not really much of a character by this point and her arc just ends up feeling underwhelming and feels like ANYONE could have gone through the SAME arc and nothing would change. Didn't help that the other characters were not well developed and were just forgettable background characters you barely got to know. The Kenny and Jane choice just ended being a mess to me mostly down to Kenny and Jane's "development" despite that a few of the endings I did like but didn't really get into since the season as a whole was just not that great to me.

    1. The Vault of the Traveler - This episode was amazing IMO. It had everything, character development, amazing action that probably tops everything else Telltale has done (including Cry Wolf's fight with Bloody Mary!), it was pretty hilarious and I did feel a lot of emotions because I got attached to all characters by the end of the game. Also, choices actually matter! Probably the most happy ending in a TT game, but that makes me like it even more!

    2. No Time Left - It was amazing like the Vault of the Traveler, very emotional ending I actually cried, and it ended Lee's arc very well. Great ending that makes you want a second season of the game. (which is out heh)

    3. Cry Wolf - The Bloody Mary fight was GREAT (IMO), incredible action. I liked the Crooked Man as an antagonist but the whole episode was too short, cliffhanger ending though :( The episode felt a bit rushed but I enjoyed it a lot.

    4. No Going Back - The shootout was disappointing, so was the "lake" scene. The only thing I liked about this episode was the Kenny/Jane choice and the endings. When the episode was released, I did enjoy the episode but now looking back, I feel like the episode was disappointing, especially with the quality of the newer finales.

Since the finale of Game of Thrones came out, time to remake my list. Also sorry for the bump:

    1. The Vault of the Traveler - Pretty funny and amazing, the choices truly mattered and I loved how it ended. Feels... ;-;
    2. The Ice Dragon - The battle, the feels... There are so many amazing things with that episode. And looked like my choices truly mattered, just like in Tales From the Borderlands. I dare to say that the consequences of our choices in Game of Thrones are in the same level like the consequences of our choices in Tales From the Borderlands. Also, the feels... again... ;__;
    3. No Time Left - I just can't describe the episode without crying. One of the best finales I've ever played.
    4. No Going Back - It could use a little more work but it was great nonetheless. And that episode made me cry just like the finale of S1 of TWD.
    5. Cry Wolf - No. Just no. Don't want to talk about it. I didn't enjoy it, just like the whole series of TWAU.

    1. The Vault of the Traveler: Truly exceptional Episode, it's not only my favourite finale, it's my favourite Telltale Episode ever. The same goes for the entire game. Great characters, humor on point, cool bossfight and some feels. A true underdog, I would have never in a million years expected to love this game so much.

    2. The Ice Dragon: Dem feels. Quite honestly, this Episode was great and does not deserve all the hate it is getting. Sure, some things I didn't like (Mira's story), but the rest was pretty much on point and very GoT like. The battle of Ironrath was epic, even if sad. And the choices matter much more than in any other Telltale game. Asher's and Rodrik's part are completley different, not a single scene except for the final battle is the same. It also seems like Season 2 will be very different for everyone. Kudos, Telltale.

    3. No Time Left: I never really felt that bad over Lee's death tbh. The game is good in itself, and so is the finale, but it is not nearly as good as everyone makes it out to be. Good Episode, but most certainly not the best finale.

    4. Cry Wolf: I have never been a big fan of TWAU. It's only mediocre in my honest opinion. I also don't remember that much from the finale, that's probably a bad sign. I only remember the Crooked Man's trial and the Bloody Mary fight. This Episode like the entire game for me: meh

    5. No Going Back: Ok, this Episode is bad, like the rest of the Season. The last choice felt extremely forced and honestly while replaying without the hype I really didn't care anymore at all how it ends. Terrible game that was just a parasite feasting on the Season 1 (over)hype imo. I do, however, have high hopes for Season 3 and Michonne after seeing what Telltale is capable of now with The Vault of the Traveler and The Ice Dragon.

    1. The Vault of the Traveler: When I first started playing Tales from the Borderlands, I have this one hope that Rhys will control a robot. I have never have a dream fulfill before. When the final battle happened and I told Gortys that I would gladly do it for her. I felt like she knew my wish and let me drive her. I was practically in tears when my dream came true. And then, the power of teamwork happened, with the Vault Hunter Team taking down the Traveler together. This episode has so many emotions too it. It was dramatic and sad during the first half, then it becomes a glowing sun of love, heartwarming, fun and family in the second half. It ended so well and so perfectly with Rhys and Fiona saying the exact same lines of dialogue that began their adventure. Now, this one will certainly stick with me for a Very long time.
    2. The Ice Dragon: Game of Thrones get a lot of flak, but I love this season finale. It was epic in scale as the conflict between the Forresters and the Whitehills escalates to the Battle of Ironrath. Despite the fact that a lot of people die in this episode and how tragic and sad that despite all Asher's, Ethan's, Gared's, Mira's and Rodrik's effort to save their family was ultimately in vain, it was done in such a beautiful way that I have to admire Telltale for that. There are a lot of awesome moments on this episode. Rodrik/Asher being such a badass as they keep fighting and leading their men in battle. Gared truly establishing himself as a strong and skilled warrior. Mira facing her execution with dignity and bravery. The Siege has such a great atmosphere to it and Asher/Rodrik leading was downright heroic. Despite the downer of the ending, this episode was very well made.
    3. No Time Left:A very emotional final to TWD Season 1 that started Telltale's popularity.
    4. Cry Wolf: Just because this is 4th, that doesn't mean it is bad. I actually like this episode a lot. More than No Going Back. This episode is more action-paced and it felt like Bigby was finally unleashing his full capabilities, showing his enemies exactly how dangerous he is when he is pissed off.
    5. No Going Back: I don't hate Season 2 as much as a lot of people. But thinking back to it, I just didn't felt as emotionally invested in the story as I did with Season 1. One of the problems was that I didn't care for many of the characters. I didn't have the proper time to get to know the rest of the group well enough. Thankfully Telltale has managed to fix that problem for Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones where there are a lot of character interaction and time for me to get to know them.
