Do you think a zombie apocalypse could happen?

Just watched a video on it that made me think it could. You should check it out, it's only six minutes long and very interesting.

Could he walking dead really happen?

Comments

  • No. Attack helicopters.

  • I think so, I think anything is possible with science. It just takes time and research to make it happen. Would Zombies end humanity, probably not. Could they exist, probably if someone tried to create them genetically.

    No.

  • It can't. Blood doesn't flow if your heart stops.

If it did, it definetely wouldn't be as hard to contain it as media makes it out to be.

  • Nah fam, this ain't the walking dead.

Although if it does happen then I'm fucked lmao.

  • No, but there's a little part of me that secretly hopes for it - if The Walking Dead is any indication it's the only chance for a loser like me to get a girlriend. "Not if you were the last man on Earth" she said, well, what about now?

If you mean "undead" Zombies instead of variation like in L4D games then I can say that unlikely.

Be it bacteria, virus or otherwise. It needs energy. Now if it would sustain itself by attacking the host body then that would cause them to quickly "rot away."

To make such thing to make body to even attack others would probably need to be created by the humans.

  • Err an accopcolyse? Maybe. But bot a zombie one.

    An apocalypse? No.

A short-lived/endemic zombie attack? Maybe. I could see an outbreak occur in a third-world country, but something like that would get quelled super quickly anywhere else. The reason that most zombie fiction pretends that zombies don't exist is because if they did, everyone would stop it from even happening. With how big zombie culture is, there's no way a large-scale outbreak could happen since there's too many genre-savvy people. Not to mention that with all the procedures and protocols in place, I find it hard to believe it'd be possible for a zombie virus to run rampant. Ebola pretty much got quashed the second a case popped up on US soil.

Slow, undead, Romero-type zombies? No. Unless science decides to throw a curve-ball and suddenly make it possible.

The 'infected' type zombies like in 28 days later? Possibly. I mean, the 'zombies' in 28 days are just people infected with a virus that makes them so inhumanly angry that their only instinct is to beat any living thing they see to death. It's not that far-fetched that something like that could potentially crop up.

  • If it did, it wouldn't last very long. Especially if it started in America. The military or even the police would wipe them all out before it would spread.

  • In the way of which we are familiar with (i.e shambling, reanimated corpses), No, I think not. However, if it were, say, something along the lines of a contagion that causes humans to become cannibalistic and/or impulsively homicidal (a la the Last of Us), then I would say probably.

Metaphorically, alas, it has already begun.

  • There are still these thousands of shambling, dead men that you would be competing with (I joke).

  • Not as in the dead coming back to life, but definitely some sort of disease, pathogen etc could wipe us out, no doubt about that at all. Probably won't happen but it's still a possibility.

  • It's happening all the time. Those people on the streets, blank look on their faces, mindless walking back and forth. Zombies. They'll try to get you, follow everywhere - will speak from tv, hide in newspapers, replace authorities with their rotting buddies. Internet is full of zombies. The chances of survival are slim.

  • The Zombie Apocalypse is just a fantasy, as are Vampires, Werewolves, Bigfoot, the Chupacabra, Extra Terrestrials, and etc.
However, there are such things as figurative zombies, and those are the types of people who spend all their time watching tv, playing videogames, or on the internet, instead of reading; and engaging in other types of learning.
In essence, their minds end up turning into mush!

In fact, it has been shown that people who are truly intelligent read quite a bit.
And spend very little time watching tv, playing videogames, or on the internet.

If you stop trying to learn knew things, you will become dumber and slower!
That's why it's absolutely ESSENTIAL to keep learning, and keep on educating yourself.

Of course not all learning is found in books.
You also learn by going out in the real world and experiencing life!

  • Intellectuals also don't outright tell you that Extra Terrestrials are fictional, instead they try to discover if they're or not. As you might know, the question is still open as we have no definitive answers there.

Anyway to not turn this to debate I'm just going to point out that besides I use internet a lot and watch a lot entertainment I'm not ignorant when it comes to trying learn new things or practice what I have already learned. As far I know entertainment is not turning my mind to "mush" and nor it's making me "slower."

  • I meant no personal offense.
I was just trying to stress how important it is that people continue to educate themselves.

It's not 100% impossible. Very unlikely to happen to humans as it would have to be very complex. If it were to happen it would most likely be man made. Also I doubt it would end the world like in TWD.
