What did you choose? It doesn't matter, really
So I watched this trailer, believing my choices would play a role in the final, and to my disappointment none of them mattered at all, except a few
Let's do some analysis:
Did you swear loyalty to the King or Margaery?
- This never matters for, A, the king dies, and B, Margaery will lose trust in you no matter what, you can be the most obedient and trustworthy handmaiden in all the seven kingdoms, but in the end it means nothing, Margaery will act completely out of character and remove Mira from her position. I thought since I gave my loyalty to the King maybe Cerci could help Mira in the end, nope
Who did you choose as your sentinel?
- This may be one choice that does, in fact, alter events, but when you realize whoever you don't choose will betray you, it's one of the most frustrating parts in this whole game because no matter what, even if you agree with Duncan/Royland every step of the way, he'll still betray you and give the most asinine excuse, it's so out of character, they would fight and die for their lord and their house, so they betray said house? Cmon...
Did you kill Mira's attacker?
- This choice only means something to the coal boy, because if you don't kill the attacker, the coal boy will, and nothing changes, except a few lines of dialogue, even keeping or throwing the dagger is pointless because you'll be accused of the crime anyway
Did you help Beskha or Malcolm in Drogon's cave
- I'll admit, this choice was a heavy one, but it was a false choice, neither of them will die and it really does nothing different in the story
Did you try to stab Ramsay Snow?
- Okay, this was obviously another false choice, but it was a disappointment, All I every wanted was to stab that bastard in the throat, but the game says, nope, just kidding
How badly did you beat Gryff?
- Hmm, does this choice make a difference? Anyone know? I doubt it changes much
Which brother did you leave behind?
- Finally a choice that matters! It only took 5 episodes to get a choice like this, with actual alterations to the plot, it's the one worthwhile choice leading up to the final
So, yeah, I know I'll likely get a lot of hate comments from the die hard fans, but I don't care. If TellTale Games is going to tout how choices in every episode will change the story, it's only like 20% true, and 80% on-rails storyline with no variation

If anyone knows about a particular choice that does matter, I'd like to hear about it
Well, it depends on your definition of "matters."
Everything matters technically. Every dialogue choice serves to flesh out your character's intentions and feelings, and help you emphasise with them. Every decision provides your own unique take on any given situation; it makes this story your own. It makes these characters your own.
So, no Telltale are telling you a story. And you can't change it. However, you can make it your own--you can personalise it to your heart's content. Who is the lord of House Forrester? A reluctant Asher, trying to honour Rodrik's sacrifice, with the help of the cunning Duncan Tuttle? Or perhaps a bloodthirsty Asher, who will stop at nothing to spill Whitehill blood, with the aid of his warrior Sentinel Royland Degore. Or perhaps none of that is the case--Rodrik Forrester never fell to the Whitehills, and now he's recovered, ready to fight the Whitehills, for Asher, or justice, or both. He forewent Ryon's safety to slay Ludd Whitehill--or perhaps he didn't, perhaps he beheaded Gryff and rescued him. In the end, near death, does his Sentinel come to the rescue? Or perhaps the traitor, trying to redeem himself? Did Eleana get taken in the battle, or did Rodrik send her away to safety?
Did Gared Tuttle arrive at the North Grove, after being falsely accused by the Night's Watch? Or did he do so, by willingly extracting revenge on Britt? Did he honour Gregor's last words and protect the North Grove, or forsake them in the name of House Forrester, and march south?
Did Mira swallow her pride and live another day, or hold her head high, and go out the Stark way? Did she betray Sera, or keep her integrity?
In the end, no, your decisions don't change the story, and how core events play out. But that doesn't mean they don't matter. I of course understand why it frustrates people. It frustrates me! However, I don't play Telltale Games for that. I play them for a great story, with great characters, that I can interact with and make my own. And I got exactly that.
Telltale's Game of Thrones is far from perfect. And I wish they incorporated the choices more into the finale. But the story of House Forrester, to me, is Telltale's most engrossing narrative. And the money I spent on the game, the time I spent playing it, was worth every bit of both.

"Your decisions influence the story" was the tagline, but I felt I had no influence, I was merely playing along. I know Telltale games are not meant to change the story, that's true for all their games, but this feels less interactive than any of their other titles. How could you be alright with that ending? It felt like if I wanted a complete story, I need to pay another $30
"I play (Telltale games) for a great story, with great characters, that I can interact with and make my own."
Me too!
Couldn't have said it better myself
Have we seen this thread before? I feel like we have seen this thread before.
Now that you mention it...
If you don't like the thread topic you could just not click on it
I'm pretty sure: "This game is tailored by how you play." is the tagline.
And essentially, that is correct, so...
We've definitely seen it before.
Well it's not new that our choices hardly matter. But in this game I feel like Telltale did a poor job hiding it. Some particularly grating examples are the harbor ambush (you let the Traitor live, he tells you, you fall for the ambush anyway) and the choice wether to kill Gryff or Ludd (Ryan survives in both cases and killing Ludd does not change the outcome of the battle in the slightest)
They also screwed up the balance of major/minor decisions imo. A lot of work went into fleshing out that "let Beshka (not) kill her Master" decision, even though that was a mere misunderstanding at best, or that Sentinel choice, which suddenly turns two long term advisors into sworn enemies (I wonder how they got along before that, somebody must have been Sentinel for the old Lord).
And then actual major decisions like the ones outlined before, that have "consequences!" written all over them do not change the story one bit
Ugh... second time I use this GIF...
You posted this topic because you want people to comment on it. And there will always be people with their own opinions.
Besides, this game actually has choices matter tremendously.
It's just not the choices you THINK matter.
Its mattered more than any other telltale game, anyway I would like it to matter more yes
It is horrible it is a game i cant just win!
But after realisation that no matter what there is no bad choices, enters the freedom of decision. So we can play however we like. So for example be super bold against Ramsay. Or tell Cersei to go fuck her brother. Or tell the favorite characters that they are awesome. I for example have a hiden goal to set Sera Flower as good as possible. BFF
Too bad there is not much little things we can do beside that.
Still looking forward to Season 2. There are some decisions (war or diplomacy, north grove, Mira) which possibly matter. We will see.
My most hated choices who are very disapponting are Killing Damien or just run and Stabbing Ramsay or not. Why did it have to be a choice of Mira letting Tom die when he just saved her life? Tehnically, why would Mira leave someone to die after preventing her death? WHO would? Mira killing Damien should have been canon. Really? Did Telltale really think GOT TV viewers would think they can kill Ramsay in the game when they just know he is just alive canon in the TV series? I cleary do not see the point of this pointless choices.
Well, Mira can be a complete scumbag.
That's the point of the choices.
You don't control the world but you control who you are.
Who would be such a scumbag to let someone die when he/she just saved his/her life?
Because the people that ran didnt want to be associated with a murder. Which when you think about it , is what gets mira killed/enslaved at the end. Though I agree it should have been canon so as it would always make sense for her to be charged
and then
lmao.
In a serious note - your choices did matter, and I think that the choices present in the trailer are only there to engage GoT fans to play this. Like imagine a GoT fan looking at a Stab Ramsey choice.
It was not "kill" it was "stab" . I think there is a difference between these 2 words. And I let Tom die , because you have to survive no matter what. I would do the same if i was in her position. That's what the game want you to choose - what you would do. Simple
What if he would still follow you? You should kill whoever tries to kill and follow you no matter how much you try to avoid.
Yeah you are right but the choices matter after all we have so much determinant characters. But I thinks that telltale will finish them all if they are lazy.
