Because that's not where the amulet was shining. They wanted to be exact on where they were going.

and how axel in ep 2 says stone bricks will take forever to punch though, but in ep 3 he breaks it in one hit at the start.
I'm sure he meant the obsidian
The girl in boom town does place obsidian at the door but he references to the wall which is made out of stone
