Which post-apocalyptic game is your favorite?

Mine, in all honesty, would have to be:

The Walking Dead - By Telltale.

And, The Last Of Us - By Naughtydog.

In some ways I personally consider the latter to be even better, since the zombie-theme has been the basis of so many post-apocalyptic games, books, movies, and so on.

And The Last Of Us steers away from that, and provides something a bit different.

  • Not only is TLoU much more enjoyable. But it's a far more poignant experience about an extremely fractured and bitter hardened survivor and a young child struggling with loss and abandonment.

  • Fallout New Vegas.

  • Lone Survivor is unquestionably the best post-apocalyptic game ever created.

  • TWD season 1. The only other ones I've played was dead light and left 4 dead.

  • The walking dead and Left for Dead 2

  • Fallout and Walking dead are the only good ones, so them.

  • no order:

    TLOU
    TWDG
    Fallout

  • Fallout, easily. Particularly the third one, since the main character is whoever you want them to be, and your actions actually do have consequences.

    • The Walking Dead-Telltale Games
    • The Last of Us-Naughty Dog
    • Dead Rising series-Capcom Vancouver

I haven't tried Fallout just yet.

Dead Island if it counts. Yes yes I know shocking, but I loved the game even with all the bugs and framerate issues

  • I cannot decide between the Last of Us and Fallout 3

  • I bought The Last Of Us: Definitive Edition yesterday. Still yet to put the disc in, I need a quiet night to spare so I can just completely invest myself in it. I'm so late to playing it.

  • Lone Survivor is great, so mysterious and creepy. Although I always find myself over reliant on blue and red pills.

The Walking Dead Game by Tell Tale Games, it's the only one I've actually replayed and still enjoyed :3 The Last Survivor was pretty good too imo.

  • Ohhh State of decay. Totally forgot about that. I love that game. I wish it had co-op

This was my favourite scene from the entire game. The whole scene was beautifully done (not the gruesome part obviously) but it's the first time we see Joel really care and show love for Ellie as if she were like his daughter, the music and a traumatised Ellie made you feel like you just wish you could hug her too haha. Truly one of the best games i will ever ever play

  • Fallout 2 is still the undisputed king of this genre. Hail to the king, baby.

  • Telltale's TWD.

    Naughty Dog's TLOU.

  • I owned state of decay for not even 20 minutes. The frame rate was so bad on my computer I got a refund for it. Which is too bad as I really wanted to play the game. Why can't I own a high end computer?

Well, since the enhanced edition of Dying Light has been announced recently, I'm going to wait for that when it comes out February.

dying light is a great game i recently got it for my ps4 i really reccomend playing it

  • I played that game like, ten times trying to get all the endings, extra ones included.

Lone Survivor is great, so mysterious and creepy. Although I always find myself over reliant on blue and red pills.

  • Left 4 Dead 1/2

    TLoU

    Walking Dead TTG

killing floor.. If that counts :p

  • Fallout will always be my favorite post-apocalyptic universe, mate. No matter how hard Bethesda try to ruin it.

  • I can't believe no one mentioned the Metro series. The redux version improved the games alot. Other than that, i'd say Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. It's not filled with much survival stuff so i dont even know if it counts, but it does take place after nukes are dropped i believe.

  • 1 & 2 had those things too though and they were done much better there IMO, but Fallout 3 had a beautiful and pretty well done map, I thought the story and characters were pretty weak though, New Vegas was much better in that regard but I didn't like the map as much as 3, I still prefer the first 2 games though.

  • I'm looking at getting Fallout 1 sometime soon. I've only played Fallout 3 and 4 at the moment, and Fallout 3 feels like the better RPG game (not that 4 isn't good in it's own way).

Fallout 1 is super cheap on gog.com and it's discounted quite often, definitely worth a look, it's old though and some aspects of it haven't aged well, I still like it more than the new ones though, in any case if you liked 3 a lot then try New Vegas, it's similar to 3 but the gameplay is a bit better and it has much better roleplaying and writing than 3 had, the wasteland itself isn't as good as 3's but the story makes up for it, also worth mentioning is that a lot of the people that worked on Fallout 2 worked on New Vegas and as a result it feels much more like a Fallout game than 3 and 4, since they nailed the tone and writing.
