I think of it as five separate games rather than one long one chopped up into five. Its not like a Telltale game. Each Chapter has a definite resolution.
I'm definetly not waiting to play one episode at a time. I will just wait for the whole season to give it a look and I thought telltale release schedule was ridiculous
Has anyone played the new King's Quest? We got Chapter 1 : A Night To Remember free on PSN this month and I think it's brilliant!! The writing is great and the narration is really funny; the gameplay is varied and it is really well polished. Chapter 2 is coming out on December 15th with three more Chapters coming out in 2016! I'd highly recommend it. Episode 1 took me about 5 hours to complete!
I loved it. They've taken all the best parts of a Telltale game and mixed it together with a more traditional adventure game. This is the type of game I've wanted Telltale to make since The Walking Dead came out. Doesn't hurt that it runs circles around Telltale visually and technically.
I'm very interested to see how well the second episode works after such a long wait. I stopped buying Telltale games at the beginning of a season because I found that I forgot major plot points when the next episode came out. The way they've laid out the story structure of King's Quest (5 standalone stories set years apart) makes me think that it will be a lot easier to settle back in. Anyways, I'll find out in a few days.

Chapter 2 is finally here.
I'm downloading it now. I still have two hours left to go on the download, but I'm excited to finally play it once it's done.

I'm about an hour in and I'm loving it. They've apparently solved the problem of puzzles breaking immersion. I've never felt so much tension in a puzzle based adventure game. Usually in this type of game you just kind of wander around, knowing that you can't really fail a puzzle. I don't want to spoil too much, but basically, if you fuck up a puzzle, there are narrative consequences. The game autosaves constantly and there's no rewind so when you screw up, you just have to live with it. And yes, I looked for a rewind function after screwing something up.
A good friend on Steam gifted me the first episode of King's Quest! Now I'll able to see what all the hype is about.
Edit - I just completed the 1st chapter in a single sitting. Now that was a REALLY good 5 and half hours of content. The choices were also pretty cool despite them not exactly mattering in the story itself, but I LOVE seeing how Gwendolyn responds depending on how you act (I chose kindness). Backtracking was a little bit of a nuisance and not being able to skip dialogue was pretty bothersome, but overall I REALLY enjoyed it and will definitely be purchasing Chapter 2 soon. I'll give chapter 1 a 9.5/10.
So Chapter 2 was one giant puzzle and while it had moments of the charm in episode 1, it felt like a different game. I was getting frustrated with the puzzle at times and it meant alot of travelling. Most of it was just mashing items into other items than using any actual intelligence. Well at least for me!! Maybe I lack intelligence!

Chapter 1 trailer :
I am waiting for all the chapters to come out.
I'm waiting for a sale so that I can buy the complete bundle with the epilogue included, but I've heard nothing but good things about it.
Might be a while, Chapter 2 has taken 5 months to release!
I am patient I guess? :P
In all honesty, I want to try an episodic game where all the episodes have been released.

It runs so smoothly, it's just so well polished and shows what can be achieved with a decent engine.
I didn't realise the stories were years apart! So pleased it showed up on PSN it really is a great game.

Tell me how it is once you finish. I'm considering buying the first 2 episodes, but it would help to found out if the quality dropped or not.
I hope you have a lot of fun!

Reviews seem to be iffy for Chapter 2. The food managing mechanic seems interesting, but also might be incredibly frustrating.
