Who's worse as a lord? Ludd or Gryff?

edited January 2016 in Game Of Thrones

For me Ludd seems more organized and tries to act under control(sort of). Gryff however seems off and is likely to do worse things as a lord ignoring order.

  • yeah Gryff would be a worse Lord because he's a petulant child and I doubt he holds the respect of his men really -- oh they'll follow him, but only because Ludd's calling the shots. He's likely to be an awful person and an awful lord, flouting his power and authority as much as he can and ruling everyone like a tyrant. Ludd is the one controlling the army and holds it with an iron grip and he can at least be reasoned with, to a degree.

this is actually reminding me of the dream I had of Rodrik and Ludd talking that was good fanfic material.

  • Is that even a question? Gryff of course.

  • Sorry I know it might seem kinda dumb.

  • I agree with you. His authority makes me wonder how Ramsay would react.

  • Gryff isnt a lord, is he. I thought he was just no more than a soldier.

  • Gryff though he hasnt really been lord yet. And in my game he never will

  • R.I.P. Gryff Whitehill, last of his name, most just and courage- aww I'm totally kidding, screw that guy!

read the above in claptrap's voice

Gryff though he hasnt really been lord yet. And in my game he never will

  • Didn't he declare himself as Lord of House Forrester when he occupied Ironrath?

@Menofthe214 Honestly, don't beat yourself up because it was a pretty legitimate question... but like everyone who posted earlier I think that Ludd is definitely a better lord than Gryff. While I think both are repulsive individuals, Ludd is in control of his house and does what he does to keep his family and Highpoint safe and secure against their rivals, meanwhile Gryff is just the Whitehill version of Joffrey without any real power (and even his men see it too when they barely put up a fight when Gryff is knocked to the floor and imprisoned at Ironrath in Episode 4).

  • His "declaration" doesn't mean shit.

Didn't he declare himself as Lord of House Forrester when he occupied Ironrath?

  • Also, isn't Gryff the fourth born son? Unless I'm forgetting that his older three brothers are dead, I doubt he'll be Lord anytime soon.

  • Depends on what Torrhen (idk if that is how Telltale spells it...) is doing with the Boltons - if Ramsay decides to go on a hunting trip with him after Ludd disobeys the original plan to keep the ironwood forest 50/50 then yes he does (because the eldest one died of grey scale and maesters - like people in the Night's Watch or Kings Guard - renounce their claim to lands and titles so Ebbert is out of the running as well since he's studying at the Citadel)

  • I literally just posted this above so I'm going to do a Cliffnotes version here - depends. If Torrhen (the one serving Roose Bolton) is alive, then no. If he's dead, yes.

    Well no shit.

Just pointing out how Gryff would behave, given his actions during his perceived lordship.

    His "declaration" doesn't mean shit.

  • Ebbert might not be out of the running yet. Gwyn said that Ebbert is at the Citadel, but that alone is not enough information to assume that he will become a maester without right to inheritance. Oberyn Martel also also studied at the Citadel, yet he kept his title as prince.

  • @Differic that's actually a good point! I wasn't thinking of if he didn't complete his maester training but if he stops before fully completing his training then you're right he is still in the running & at that point would actually be the lord (because I think he's older than Torrhen anyway)

  • Ludd is awesome, gryff is dog shit

  • What if Gryff becomes Lord and his own men decide to join the Forresters in taking him down?....

  • Gryff strikes me as the type of person who would become even more whiny and petulant as a Lord, so I'm going with him.

  • Mine either. Rodrick is ten times the man he was. Maybe more.

  • Ludd is a big steaming pile too.
